I was looking for a quality DVD player - I didn't need anything fancy. I haven't had it long, but so far it does the job. I didn't give it 5 stars because of the remote. The buttons on the remote are very small and are all the same shape. I have better than 20/20 vision and I still must have good lighting and look very closely to read the buttons.

This is probably a 3.5-star item. I'm giving it four for the fast delivery and the completely easy setup. I have a hand-me-down Visio flat-screen TV with all kinds of component capabilities, so I got this little unit to watch DVDs (yeah, I still have some). You don't have to read any instructions. It's basically connect the colored wires to the colored ports, plug it in, put batteries in the remote, open the tray, stick the DVD in, and set your TV to the right component. You can then use the remote to play the disc.

Simple. So why don't I love it? The remote needs to be pressed a dozen times to work. There's just not a crisp connection between it and the unit.

Simple to hook up. Our smart TV recognized it even when it wasn't on its favorites list. Which means that it can be found and you don't have to spend mega dollars on one and can still play everything except blue ray. You can even plug a thumb drive into it to see stored pictures. It's 1/4 of the size of our old one and does more, all for $35. For that price if it goes out or becomes obsolete in a year you can simply replace it. It does not come with a HDMI cable so make sure you have one. Many smart TVs don't work well with two sets of video audio cables. Our TV only accepted one set and we still have a old VCR, and lots of tapes!

I received my order very quickly and am happy with my purchase. The DVD player is very easy to set up as it comes with the cables which are color coded for an easy plug in to the TV. It also comes with an instruction booklet and a remote with a pack of two batteries. I set it up and it came on when turned on and I watched a movie. I did have a bit of trouble with the sound quality as the sound was loud and then seemed to drift off and I had to keep turning the TV sound louder to hear the movie. I noticed in the instructions that you can change the speed of how fast the movie plays and thought maybe the settings for the DVD, did not match my TV. I have not had time to do the remote setup, as to speeds or menu on with the remote, so I am hoping that is the source of the sound problem. Otherwise I am very pleased with the DVD, and feel I paid a fair price for it.
Wanted to add that on back of DVD unit their are several cable plugs that are color coded. Depending on your TV, and unit be sure to watch which ones you use. The cable included with the unit is color coded to match the red, white, and yellow. For my older TV it was necessary to use the lower set of plug-ins. I had mistakenly plugged into the top red plug-in instead of using the lower one. Once I changed this to using only the lower row of plug-in holes, my volume was perfect. So in review I am very much pleased with this DVD unit.

I was looking for a DVD player with slow motion and zoom since Blu Ray players do not have these features. This unit appeared to be the best fit at a reasonable price. It is also small and takes up minimal space. It is HDMI out and up-converts to better resolution. I like it so much I bought a second one as a back up for the future. I saw another review about the remote control being small. Yes it is, but you figure it out and actually being small is nice since it weighs little and is not a big clumsy unit.

I've only had the opportunity to use this a few times, but it does exactly what i want it to do...play DVD's. I notice that others have complained about the remote. Personally, i dont have an issue with it, its your basic remote. I had the player set up and ready to go within 5 mins of taking it out of the box. The one thing i do find odd is the timer on the front of the unit. It only goes up to 60 mins and then starts counting up from zero again. Whats up with that??? However, for the price and ease of use, I'm perfectly satisfied.

I needed a multi-region dvd player to play my UK dvds. When I found this dvd player on Amazon, I was a little worried that this dvd player was just a bad cheapo, since it was so cheap. Some of the reviews were not good either, which also worried me. The dvd player was delivered and my husband tossed the box on the ground. I thought that, if the dvd player was not so bad, that must have done it. I opened the box and I can now see with my own eyes that the dvd player is small and very light, which usually indicates cheap. I hook it up with ease, and the dvd player turns on, which was a relief, and plays my UK dvds with no problems. Image is crystal clear, better than my expensive dvd player, if I might say. Works absolutely great, has all kinds of features. I love love love it and would buy it again. Only down is that the imprint on the buttons of the remote is very faint, you can hardly read it.

I bought the Impecca DVHP9117 DVD player for one purpose: I needed to play British DVD's (Region 2, PAL format European disks) on my US (NTSC) home television. For that purpose this little player is an absolute best buy. It automatically detects and plays both NTSC and PAL format disks, and it can output either NTSC and PAL signals to your TV. (As delivered it defaults to NTSC output, so no setup is needed for US users.) Furthermore, it is a "Region 0" player, which means it can play disks from all over the world even if they are coded for use only in certain areas.

I've used my Impecca player for a year now. The Impecca is a small, lightweight box, but the electronics and mechanical internals have outlasted the much more expensive Sony and LG players which preceded it. If you are still concerned about longevity, Amazon offers very inexpensive extended warranty plans.

Product support is excellent. After my purchase I asked Impecca's customer service a specific question about the Regional support I mentioned above. The support representative gave me a very honest, "I don't know" reply, but within 24 hours I got an email from one of their engineers answering my question.

I agree with other reviews that the remote is both small and oddly configured, which means that I had to put on my reading glasses to use it. But my solution was to rummage through my junk drawer for an old programmable universal remote -- the kind where you point the Impecca remote at the universal remote, then press "learn" on the universal to program the keys. (The "universal" remote was actually from an old, defunct Samsung television.) Once everything was set, the Impecca remote went into the drawer...

This is a solid DVD player with some very useful special features at an excellent price. Now, if Impecca will just come out with a Blu-ray version, I'm ready to buy!

We've been using this DVD player out on the porch to play our interval training fitness DVDs. The player doesn't seem to be affected by the changing temps or inclement weather. It's been working great for several months now.

I will say the remote is rather rudimentary and doesn't have the normal play button configuration most remotes seem to have.

Nice DVD player with a small footprint, have not had it very long but so far I am very satisfied with this DVD player. It took about 3 to 5 minutes to set up and play my first DVD. The remote was very easy to use and understand and very responsive when pushing the buttons . Have not used the USB port yet .
Have now used the USB port and works well, you must have your videos in the MPEG2 format for them to play. Put you flash drive in the USB port before you turn on the DVD player, then turn it on and push and hold the DVD/USB button till you see on your TV screen the words loading, release the button. It will start playing the first video, just press the menu button if you want to play a different video. If you need a video converter XMEDIA RECODE is a great one and very easy to use has well, just Google it to download it .
