The unit is exactly as pictured. Extremely easy to install, anyone could do it. The design is complimentary to my particular shower unit which is a hand-held unit, and the small digital window sets in exactly 8 seconds, as explained in the instruction manual, and very helpful when monitoring the systems use and remaining effectiveness.
Very nice, accidentally took a sip a few times and water tasted great, like a brita pitcher. Softer hair, soft skin just like it advertises. One bad thing is it is quit large so unless you have a loooonng shower head rod, your shower head will be handing low. I am 5'2 and my hand-held shower head is very low when I have it sitting in the holder. For that reason, I probably will be getting a large Rain head type, with the long rod.
I installed the filter as soon as it arrived and within minutes I had clean water for showers. There was no lingering smell from chlorine or the occasional sulfur smell. I habe been using this for about a week now. I didn't realize how hard our water was until i started using this. My hair is so much softer and feels clean after each shower. Even my skin feels better. I am in the prices of buying a new shower head as spacing is a slight problem but that is just based on what i currently have. I recommend this if yippy want softer water for showers and no spray for a water softening unit.
We have hard water. This is not going to entirely correct a hard water issue, but the water quality is much improved. We also use a shower dental pick and run it through the filter and it helps greatly. Teeth feel clean and water tastes good. Very happy with the quality of this product.
The reason for the deduction of a star is two-fold... One, it did reduce the water pressure despite claims by other reviewers and the seller that there is no concern of water pressure reduction. If others did not notice this, my suspicion is that they did not have a major water pressure issue to begin with. That having been said, it was not a massive reduction so it seems better than other filters I have tried, but indeed still a reduction in pressure. I'm not sure this is something entirely able to overcome if you want to use a filter in a low-pressure situation, but just know that if you indeed have low-pressure water, this is going to reduce it further - though, as mentioned previously, not as much as many of the other options available (and I have tried several over the months).
The second reason for the deduction of the star is that this is a bit of an awkward installation design. It's larger than some other designs, making installation somewhat inconvenient and less than ideal. I would have preferred there was no ball joint because my shower head has this already. If you are intending to use this to support a rain shower head, extra weight on this may be an issue. I would prefer a fixed connection and not a movable one. However, if you are simply using this for a hand-held shower head connection, it shouldn't be any issue and may actually prove more versatile in some applications.
Overall, this seems to be a quality product for the price-range. The water is noticeably improved and, other than the large size and awkward installation drawbacks, it was not difficult to setup and use. The materials are quality and we experienced no leaking or other negative issues as far as normal operation is concerned.

We have very hard water in the house we rent and no water softener. It made a huge difference in our shower. No more itchy skin! The only downside to it is if you have harder than normal water like we do then you'll need to replace the filter way before the 180 days is up. We got to about the 90 day mark before the water flow got bad enough to require a filter replacement. It works perfectly again with a new filter.

Installation took me like 2 minutes. Works perfectly. I am super happy with the quality and how well it works. I never realized how hard my water was until I got this shower filter. I like the look of this. Installation was easy. Water comes out quickly. I don't know how it sucks out all the chlorine so quickly but I don't smell it during my showers anymore. I recommend you buy some pipe tape. It's a thin barrier you put on the rivets so leaks of water don't happen at the connections between this unit and the shower head or main pipe. Mine leaked without this tape.
I have always had sensitive skin that itches very easily, so I have gone through many bottles of the best lotions for this.
