Apologies if this review seems too negative. It's not meant to be, it's just because the positives have already been written about in other reviews and I'm sparing the repetition.

ALL my expectations were met save one: temperature regulation. Of the two images, one is 1/4" of water in a seasoned cast iron frying pan (smiley face). The other is with water about 1.25" deep in the same pan. In both cases the temp is set to 180°; ideally there should be no boiling, but there is. After 'shooting' different regions of the pan as seen in the images with a temperature 'gun', I found that the very center of the pan was 186° (shallow water) and 196° (deeper water). In deeper water, the surface temp is being read, so the bottom of the pan could still be about 186° while closer to boiling temp water circulates above.

I repeated the process with very shallow oil at a higher setting that should not cause any smoke or burn the oil at all, but it did start to generously smoke in the same region where the boiling water is seen.

In exploring the best egg cooking setting by the temperature method, I find that the eggs can begin to burn in one area while being barely cooked in another. Just setting a low power level (not temperature) does better - 2 or 3 when starting with a cool pan, then 1 or 2 for the rest of the time.

Conclusion: the temperature sensor is in the center one inch of the surface. If the surrounding region must reach much higher temps to bring the center to the temp setting, that's what will happen. Therefore I cannot rely on this surface to accurately keep the whole pan surface at an even temp. I considered trying a different induction cooktop, but after reading more about these, the internal heating area and temp sensor arrangement is basically the same across many brands.

Maybe an unusually thick pan bottom would do better to spread the heat more evenly?

Recently bought and used a few times and for what it is I gave it a top rating. The cooktop works well, and brings water to a boil faster than our gas range. You can set the heat by temperature or a "power level" with 10 different settings. This unit performs very well: The element heats up really fast, no more waiting endless minutes for a pot of water to boil . I found that temperature and time settings work quite well. The unit is attractive and the controls work easily. It has a timer to turn off the cooktop, which is perfect for me because I have a tendency of forgetting and overcook my food. The glass plate is of very good quality. The surface cools to the touch very quickly, and it’s easy to wipe clean . A big advantage, especially for families with children, is that induction cooktop use an electromagnetic field that will only create heat when a pot or pan is on the heating element.

The unit does have a fan that produces a bit of noise but as long as one keeps the unit in a kitchen or an environment with some noise, the fan noise is not obtrusive. Placed on a quiet dining room table for Hotpot , the unit would be distracting, but 1800W needs a fan.

Not all pots and pans will work with this cooktop. The pots we use are induction compatible. If you don't have the right pot/pan, it will give you an error (EO). If you not sure, put a magnet on the bottom of the pot or pan, if it sticks it most likely will work.

I am very pleased with this product and its performance. The cooktop surface is big enough for what I do. The options of power levels and temperature setting is a very useful feature. I like the almost instant temperature change when adjusting the settings. The portability of the unit is great. It's small enough for easy storage. Cost was attractive for what you get. Great value, performs well.

Heats up fast and has more control.
Energy efficient
Light weight makes it easy to transport
Cools down very quick
Easy to clean
Safe for children
.
An excellent product for under $70

This is my first induction cooktop. I have used gas and electric range before and I never really liked it. Gas being the preferred method of cooking. Induction cooktop is a whole different type of beast. I never thought 1800 watt of power will be enough to actually cook. But this induction cooktop won me over.

It makes best instant noodle. I tend to over cook them but this stove boils the water so fast, I don't have time walk away from it. And it keeps the power output down well enough that it does not over heat the pot which results in noodle that is slightly undercooked which is what you want for instant noodle.

Power control on this is an oddity. I hear it uses PWM which means it turn on and off to control power. That unfortunately has issues. I tried making green onion pancake, (IMEI), with thin wok it burnt the pancake even at the lowest setting of 1. I am guessing it will be better if I use much thicker frying pan instead of thin wok.

This is good first induction cooktop. Well made.

I had a portable gas cooktop that uses butane fuel but was getting tired of keep purchasing the butane cans and those aren't safe to transport around so i gave this a try. this was a lot safer, just plug in and turn on the knob to desired power. I use this for tabletop hotpot and with indoor grilling pan too for KBBQ, it works really well and no worry about running out of fuel, and no worry about misfiring like with the gas stove. I saw at first one side was heating up quicker than the other when i was making hotpot, but i gave it a good stir and readjust the pot and everything was fine. I'd highly recommend this over portable gas stove, a lot safer to use, easier to clean and to take with you as well.

I never had induction cooktop before but I saw it from my mom's place and wanted one for a while and decided to try this product. My first thought when I first opened the box was it was a lot bigger than the one my mom had. So it looked much mors sturdy and legit. I turned it on as soom as I opened the box. I turned it on to see if it worms properly. But the unit kept turning off!! I thought this was broken unit. Then I was talking to my mom on the phone and she asked if I put a pot on top of the cooktop. I was like ummmm no? She told me it will stop working if there is no pot placed on it. O wow!!!! Haha duh?
I placed a pot and turned it on. It worked wonderfully. It heats up so fast and I was surprised. I have regular stovetop and this heats up faster than my regular stovetop. The design ks sleek and sturdy. So far, I am loving it. Nothing to complain about.

How It Works
Induction cooking works through a magnetic field between the induction coils beneath the glass top and the ferrous (iron-containing) material in the cookware. Heat from induction is only produced in the pan itself, not in the glass top. The cooktop will get hot where the pan is placed as a result of the heat transfer from the pan.

Selecting the Right Cookware
Only induction-ready cookware will work with induction cooktops. Cookware must have iron in the bottom of the pan. Place a small kitchen magnet on cookware bottom; if it holds, it is induction cooktop ready. Use only flat-bottom cookware that is 4.7 to 10 inches (10-26 cm) in diameter.

Cookware that works:
✔ Some stainless steel
✔ Enamel cast iron
✔ Enamel on steel
✔ Cast iron

Cookware that will not work:
✖ Copper bottom
✖ Glass
✖ Aluminum (includes many nonstick pans)
✖ Pottery-type cookware

Care and Cleaning:
When finished cooking, turn cooktop off and unplug from outlet. Allow cooktop to cool completely. Wipe cooktop surface with a soft, water-dampened cloth. If further cleaning is needed, wipe cooktop surface with a mixture of water and mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners or abrasive sponges on the cooktop.

I have just moved into a new apartment which does not yet have a kitchen installed, however, I need to prepare food at home. I've been using this cooking technology for a couple of weeks now and I'm really amazed at how efficiently and quickly food is cooked. So far, it's been easy to clean and I also think it saves you a few bucks on your electricity bill. I think I made a good investment and I'm thinking about buying the second one. Another advantage is that you can move them anywhere, even on your vacation.

Perfect introduction for my husband to use an induction cooktop,
. We purchased this to use outside to reduce odors in the house, as well as reduce the heat produce whilst cooking inside during the summer. I love the safety feature that keeps the cook top off unless you have a pan on it. It was easy to use right out of the box and we are looking forward to using it frequently. We might even pack it out on our next camping trip.

I always liked to use induction cook top before. It used convenience to cook hotpot, especially in winter. The quality is very good.I have used for twice. It always work good. There have ten level to adjust.and it's so careful to have a kids safety lock. But I feel it's a little bit smaller than I usually use.

I have been pleasantly surprised by this unit. I love that I can control both power level and temperature. It also seems much more powerful than the copper chef unit we had before this. One thing I noticed, and I'm not sure if this happens with all of these types of devices, but it cycles. The power will cycle from lower to higher, in about 15 second intervals. So, for example, I will have it set to 210 temperature when boiling water, and it will start out not bubbling at the beginning of the cycle, but towards the end, it starts bubbling. Again, not saying it is a concern, just an FYI about how it works. Very easy to clean. Overall, very happy with the unit.

This induction cooktop was very easy to use, there are has 10 levels of power, and I used it to cook the hot pot, only 5 minutes will soon boiled(just use level 5). This thanksgiving was to used it to cook hot pot! My whole family likes it very much, better than using Gas cooktop! Good!
