Very pleased with this on the day of delivery. It is sleek and compact and feels “solid,” unlike the Cuisinart SS-10 it replaced. It does not take up much counter space. The water heats up quickly. I measured the outflow temperature of the water (without a K-cup) with a thermocouple. It read between 182F and 195F, the optimal temperature for drip brewing. Although it can brew cups “in five sizes” ranging from 6-14 oz, those sizes are distributed across three ranges from which you must pre-select when setting it up. It is easy to preset the range: unplug the coffee maker, depress the “small” button, plug the coffee maker back in, then select the range you want to use. I will call the ranges “low,” “middle,” and “high” and the volumes produced “small,” “medium,” and “large.” What it produced on the LOW range was small=6 oz, medium=8 oz, large=10oz. MIDDLE range: small=8 oz, medium=10oz, large=14oz. HIGH range: small=10 oz, medium=12 oz, large= 14oz. I wish that the MIDDLE range was set for 8, 10, and 12 oz because 12 oz is an ideal size for my mugs; 14 oz is practically overflowing. I read elsewhere that the coffee maker will only heat its water when the lid on the K-cup compartment is closed. But even after the coffee maker put out the largest cup possible, it was ready to go for the next cup right away. I am puzzled that the Mueller website does not show this model as one of their products. Perhaps they sold it off to other manufacturers because the exact same product is marketed on Amazon under the “Aicok” and “Mixpresso” brand names (at higher prices). Note that the refillable coffee pods that come with the Cuisinart coffee makers do NOT fit in this device.
That in itself should tell you something. This coffee maker, for the price, cannot be beat. It has basically everything one could want in a K-Cup coffee maker, sans some minor bells and whistles that were most likely put in place to justify its ridiculous cost.
The break-down:
Fit and Finish: Looks and feels very sturdy. It doesn't look cheap nor feel flimsy. Nice and compact as well, without degradation in appearance. This will look nice in your kitchen/office/desk area.
Ease of use with nice features: Very intuitive. You can even change the default cup size settings, if you choose [directions in the manual]. Reservoir is very easy to fill, although admittedly some people may find having to get it from the back of the unit a minor inconvenience. Also, some people complain about the 2 hour automatic shutoff being too long. But you can always hit this thing called an 'Off' button, and frankly I think that is the default setting for the Keurig anyhow. It's far pricier competitor has an auto start feature, but seriously, get real. It only takes about 2 minutes from a cold state to get the heating element ready to do its thing. I, for one, don't have a problem with pushing the on button, getting my KCup/mug ready, and voila! ready to go.
Also, while it doesn't have a 'strong' brew feature, I easily compensate for that by buying a dark roast blend. Easy peezy.
Simple Clean Up: None this fancy crap in the form of specialized descalers and proprietary filters, which add more to the bottom line. Simply use filtered water [we take it from a Brita filter pitcher], and de-scale, per instructions, with standard household vinegar at the recommended intervals.
Great tasting coffee!: A caveat here: your coffee is only as good as the cups and the quality of water you use! Brewing temperature on this unit is fantastic too.
Superior customer service, far lower price, and backed by a far better warranty [TWO years!]. Any questions you may have, they reply very promptly. Contrast to a product information inquiry I had with Keurig, written a week ago and have still to hear back from them.
Only two minor issues I found, emphasis on 'minor.' First is the water reservoir indicator. You can barely see the red bead telling you the water level. The second is the location of the reservoir itself. That said, no unit is 100% perfect, but I wouldn't trade this unit for anything.
Buy it and try it! You won't regret it!
I *battled* with my old "K" coffee machine and hated it. About a year ago I got a Mueller travel or single serving machine that I loved. We've traveled the US with it and it made the best coffee. Our daily use household coffee machine broke the last straw and I bought a full size Mueller coffee maker.
First, the machine is sleek and stylish looking. It is more attractive on the counter than any of the other machines I looked at. It is also smaller in height and width than my old K machine. Winner winner chicken dinner.
Second, it has the option for three different sizes of coffee to dispense.
Third, the coffee is hot! Sounds silly but some machines just don't make it hot enough.
Fourth, it's easy to use. Even for company who isn't familiar with the machine it is a no brainer.
Fifth, the machine gets the water to temperature fast. Some other machines take a while for the water to get hot enough to illuminate the dispense button.
Sixth, the water tank is easy to remove and fill and reinstall. It is sturdier to move the machine around without the water tank coming loose as compared to the K machine.
Again, this full size daily machine is my second Mueller machine.and I love them both and they've worked flawlessly so far! I put a photo of my machine with a $1 bill in front of it for scale/size.
For the people that complain that it's hard to clean, read the instructions. The unit the K-cup sits in is removable with a counterclockwise turn. The bottom portion of that unit is removable also, again with a counterclockwise turn. Folks, the small drain on the bottom of the K-cup holder is going to get plugged because of tea leaves, coffee grounds, wrong size K-cups, etc., so you're just going to have to clean it more or less often depending on the products you run through it.
My wife and I were concerned that this coffee maker might not be of good quality given its comparatively low price to the better known market leaders. We were also concerned about some of the quality comments about the market leaders that cost almost twice as much. We decided to take a chance. We very glad we did!!
The quality of manufacture of this coffee maker is evident as soon as you take it out of the box. Our experience with the Mueller coffee maker has put a huge smile on our faces. It makes the coffee quickly, even the first cup. The coffee tastes great. There are plenty of suppliers for the "K-Cups" at our grocery stores.
This product is a winner!

Compared to the Keurig units we have had at the business, this one is simplicity. The coffee is hotter and tastes better, the time to brew is about the same or a bit faster. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is because the reservoir is a cup or 2 smaller than the K40. The price was much less than the Keurig and the unit takes up less space.
We bought a Keurig mini plus for Christmas and it quit working after a week so it went back to Target. After reading about the Mueller we ordered one and so far we are really happy with it. We appreciate the three different brew size options since my husband and I like different brew strengths and we are really pleased with how the coffee tastes! It comes out much hotter than the Keurig; even when we’ve added water straight from the fridge. IMPORTANT TIP for those who live at altitude (or even if you don’t): press the K-cup down gently when you load it in until the bottom is punctured with the lower needle; then lower the handle down to puncture the top like normal. That way you don’t get any grounds exploding everywhere. We haven’t had any at all.
Problem, my first cup overflowed. Solution, read the manual as the big mug button is for 12 oz not 10 oz. I've had a Keurig since they came into existence. I do regular, she does Decaf. Keurig had the ONLY perfect solution...back then. Now there are options. She never could put the lid on the reservoir on out Keurig 55, the pointy lid was awkward. This is a cylinder (aka. round) so it is easy-peasy. My sons are left handed. Again, adding water to the reservoir was difficult. The Mueller is accessible from left or right. Additionally, we found the noise level on par with the Keurig. Now I've had the Mueller for under 24 hours, but in that time I am VERY impressed. If that changes, you'll hear from me.
I was looking for a smaller k-cup coffee maker to set on my desk at work so I could make my own brews. I was going to go with a Kuerig because I like the larger one I have at home but the reviews for the small mini one were not very flattering to say the least. Then I came across this Mueller, read some review, did a brief research of the company, (German engineering) and went for this one. This is an awesome coffee maker. It is very well made, (all plastic but still solid), and makes a great cup of coffee. There is a fairly large water reservoir for a unit of this size with a handy gauge on the front so you can tell how much water is left. It heats up very quickly, (just a few minutes), and as previously stated makes a great cup of coffee. The default setting for the brew sizes are 6, 8 and 12 oz. but are very easy to change, (I made mine 8, 10 and 12 oz.). The ladies in the office love the rich coffee smell this brewer makes and now all of them are using it too. I have had this brewer for a few months now and it gets used constantly. I think this is very well made, very easy to use and the bottom line-it makes a wonderful cup of coffee no matter what size you set it too. Also, the price can't be beat for what you get. I would highly recommend this k-cup brewer.
My Keurig was slowly dying and I debated whether or not to get another one but stumbled upon this Mueller Ultima here on Amazon. The reviews are mostly great but still, like everyone else I wondered about the few negative reviews and whether or not I’d experience those issues. First, I experienced the same positives as everyone else. Set up was simple and easy. This thing is much more compact than my Keurig but produces the same output, while saving space on my counter. The coffee tastes great. I have one particular K-Cup that is the only one I use and the coffee was just as good and perhaps slightly better than from my old machine. To address some of the issues that others have mentioned and that I have not experienced such as coffee grounds spilling, I’m guessing maybe it’s the brand of kcup, perhaps? Like I said I used the same kcup (Keurig Starbucks) that I always use and I had zero grounds in my coffee. Next a few people stated the coffee is not hot enough. I know with the Keurig you could set the temp to nearly boiling but the temp on this coffee is perfectly hot enough. Some others also complained about limited coffee sizes. The default sizes are 6, 8, and 12 oz however there are very simple instructions included to changes the sizes to 8, 10, 12. Yes, if you have a very large travel mug you might have to go through two different brew cycles, but I had to do the same thing on my Keurig. Others claimed about the carafe being hard to get to. Really, it’s not. So you either pull the machine out a little or, what I do is just take the lid off and use a small pitcher to fill it. I will say though taking this carafe off and putting it back on is much easier than the Keurig. One thing that I didn’t personally read in a review that I absolutely LOVE is the ability to stop the brew mid cycle. So let’s say you chose the wrong size and your cup is about to overflow, you simply just push the same cup size button you chose to brew and the brewing will stop. I love this machine and I’ll dont ever see myself going back to Keurig.
