I got this to replace the quick disconnect clip I had when I initially got the KeySmart. This clip is a great improvement. My one complaint I had from the original was if the KeySmart which had my house keys on it were turned in a certain way, my car keys would unclip and fall to the floor. I really like the KeySmart system, so I just lived with it for the last couple of years. Then when I lost my clip, I went to order a new one and was happily surprised to see it had a lock. I've been testing it out all weekend trying to get it to slip out and so far so good. The design seems excellent, a simple twist of the lock blocks the spring clip from moving. Hopefully it's durable, since the lock is made of plastic. I'll try to remember to update the review if I notice the lock slipping.
I bought one of these a while back to corral my house keys and it really worked out well - two bulky rings of became one flat thing that's really unobtrusive in my pocked. 5 stars for that.
So I bought another one for my motorhome keys but that didn't go so well. There are some very long keys for the doors, and some very small keys for other things, neither of which worked well in the KeySmart - the extreme sizes where just hard to get in and out. it's now holding the spare set which is again contained to a small size, but old fashioned rings work better for very large and very small keys. Minus one star for lack of adaptability.
Item was exactly as pictured. Bottle-opener on one side, keyring on the other.
The nice thing is that the bottle opener is pointed enough to do the job without being unnecessarily sharp. I can push the bottle opener tip against my finger and not puncture myself. So if you keep your KeySmart fairly loose, no worries of poking yourself in the leg through your pocket.
The construction is also pretty good. Won't bend or even flex at all. The hole is big enough for the original KeySmart screw to fit without much play.
It is a bit weird at first to open bottles with it, but it gets far easier if there is a keyring attached to the other end. Without something keeping the add-on from closing, you'll have to use some leverage from (in my case) a thumb to get the bottle cap off.
Again to be clear, the bottle opener is made to open bottles. It does not work well to open cans. It is not sharp enough. All edges have been rounded and are not at all sharp. This is JUST a bottle-opener, not to be used a can opener.
That said, I'm very confident using the bottle-opener, that is after figuring out the small learning curve. It stays discrete when not in use, and when needed can be easily exposed, used, and put back away.
I bought a Keysmart a year ago for myself because it seemed like a better solution to the problem of having many keys on a key ring or carabiner. The Keysmart serves the purpose well.
Keysmart is a simple device whose design is the result of good common sense. The two sides are punched from thin aircraft aluminum sheeting and finished with rounded edges and powder coating. Wear parts are stainless steel for long life. Basically, the device sandwiches keys so that it operates much like a pocket knife or multi-purpose tool. Keys are held between the aluminum sides by bushings with inside threads to which endpieces are screwed in. Keys are separated on the bushing by thin fiber washers. These make possible an adjustable friction fit for how tight or how loose the keys are held. The system works well and is expandable with the purchase of a separate kit. If the keys on one end begin to fold out too easily, you just tighten the bushing on that side using a flathead scewdriver, knife edge, your fingernail or whatever. It’s all very simple.
The optional Quick Disconnect is a great way to keep your vehicle key (with fob) separately attached to your other keys. It consists of a small figure 8 twin spring-loaded carabiner with a single positive locking lever which securely locks both sides. Then, when leaving your car for service (or lending it), a twist of the lever unlocks the carabiner, allowing you to detach the vehicle keys from the Keysmart. You car keys stay together on the carabiner until you reattach to the Keysmart.
The Keysmart and the Quick Disconnect work well together as a key-keeper and organizer. Because I like it so well, I bought 3 Keysmarts to give to my sons and son-in-law for Christmas this year. Guys are always hard to buy for. I enjoy giving things that I myself use and like. So far, no complaints! 😊
Works great to attach my car remote key fob, a nano flashlight, and my small swiss army pocket knife to my Keysmart Rugged Key Holder. I especially like the fact that it has a lock so nothing can accidentally fall off while you manipulate the keys. And all three items are right at hand, readily available, and easily detached if someone else needs one of them. (My wife is always asking for the little scissors on the pocket knife.)

First of all, I really like the KeySmart Compact Key Holder. It fits its name brilliantly, silencing jangling keys and reducing them to a small space in a pocket or purse. It even provides a bit of extra leverage when twisting the key in a hard-to-turn lock. The quick release seemed a natural accessory for handing only the car keys to a mechanic or valet, so I ordered it as soon as I knew that the key holder was a good purchase. It arrived and I quickly realized that my arthritic hands weren't strong enough to turn the release. A pair of pliers did the job, but not too many folks want to tote a heavy tool like that around, especially when the purpose of the KeySmart is to be compact.
Minds that were clever enough to think up the KeySmart and its useful accessories can surely come up with an easy-twist release. I'm looking forward to the result, but keeping the "quick release" and pliers handy until then.
I ordered the KeySmart Compact Key Holder Add-on Accessory - S-Biner Stainless Steel Quick Disconnect Clip because I was tired of having multiple rings upon rings with my key fob. It is much smaller than I expected, which I find to be an asset. Key fobs are rather clunky already, so less bulk from the holder of my other keys was important to me. If you've ever tried to wrench off a key from one of those keychain rings, you'll especially appreciate the convenient disconnect clip - easy off, easy on without breaking a nail or leaving dents in your fingers!
good quality craftsmanship. it is not compatible with competing key holders (I use the key-disk mini, but they do not offer a similar single purpose loop piece). I cannot comment on function or its compatibility with your KeySmart key holder or how smoothly it is deployed and tucked away. I would assume it is just as reliable as any other KeySmart product, and that says a lot for a crowd-funded kickstarter venture that has become the industry standard for key holders. I chose the key-disk solely based on design, and I do not regret my decision. But for anyone who is interested in a quality key holder, look no further than KeySmart. They have even continued to push the envelope of integrated utility by partnering with tile on their latest KeySmart device. I, personally, prefer a minimal profile no frills key holder and, for this reason alone, opted for an equally high build key-disk.
I use this for my everyday keys, I also got the Keysmart key holder. I got tired of a big feeling in my pocked, not many keys can do that on a tradional key ring. This system is KOOL, the keys are organized and have a compact feeling to having my keys, what is better is the accessories like this, I can clip them to anything! I clip my to my iPod thouch holder that has a strap I removed and use it for my Keysmart key holder set up.
Didn't like it at first, but once I got my belt hook, combined it with this holder and my KeySmart keys, AWSOME! Like the locking mechanism. Takes a while before it becomes easy to use, but is worth it. Carbiners are nice, but most of them don't lock.
