 My Thoughts:

Record Players seem like ancient technology these days and in a lot of ways they are. However, this comes in handy for someone who has home projects, live recordings, or something really special. You can convert that into an MP3 to save forever digitally. Besides from that you can play records of different size just fine. No external speakers required.

The Bottom Line:

A cost effective all in one turn table that can convert your old records to digital master pieces.

Personally, I love music, however, I am not musically talented like my older brother, he can play any instrument you lay in his hands! I purchased this for him. He has a huge record collection, he lost count at 300 he says. He had a very old turntable (record player), that put out a scratchy sound along with the music! It certainly did not have the features this record player has either. This turntable can play any size record, something my brother was quite pleased about, as he has other size records that couldn't be played on his old turntable, so he's very happy he can listen to them now. The thing that got my brother all excited when I gifted this to him, is the fact that you can use this turntable to transfer your records to mp3 files, to either transfer to a different format or to send/download the files to your phone! Super cool! I tried to find the country of origin ( where this is manufactered), but couldn't. I do believe its made in the USA or Europe, as the instructions are written in english, spanish, and portugese.
I told my brother I was going to review this because I purchased it on Amazon, and what are his thoughts........he asked me how much I paid for it, I told him $40 , and he says it's completely worth it. He said this turntable is obviously not top shelf quality, or the best equipment one can buy, but it is decent, works great and is very reasonably priced considering it's functionality. The quality is mid-shelf, the price is great, the sound quality is decent, the speakers are built-in, so no need to buy more equipment, it plays any size record, and you can use this turntable to transfer your records to mp3 files, this is a good buy!

Amazingly easy to use, great sound, incredible value. This is the third Mp3 turntable I have tried, and the first that actually works well. The software for recording to mp3 is also easy to use. I have nothing but positives about this product! Even if you don't care about converting to digital, this is an inexpensive and good quality turntable.

For the first time in years we have a record player that has speakers. I thank you as we have many, many LP albums from the 50s,60s,+70s. I bought it (Lauson w/speakers) because I wanted to transfer the music from our LP albums to CDs.
I still do not know if I can accomplish that feat as the process has failed me for three or four years. Using USB and computer is very complicated. BUT... I was able to hear the music that my wife and I loved for the first time in years. The first LP I tried was one of Johnny Mathis. I wept.......for the recall of our lives.
I shall keep the Lauson turntable player, and if the transfer of the LPs via USB still do not happen, I'll hang onto the LPs. I'm 82 and tired of ION and gadgets and tired of failures.

This is a great little standalone record player! I just got a whole box of my old records, discovered during a move. I have not had a turntable in years. I was going to just donate them, but as I looked through them, I just couldn't do it. So I looked into what was available in turntables now, and this one was well reviewed, and cheap! I received it yesterday, and spent an hour listening to old records. The built-in speakers are pretty darned good, with plenty of volume. Today I thought I would hook it up to my little tabletop system, with the included cable, and that works great too! The built-in speakers don't turn off, but that is fine, since the system speakers are across the room. I have volume control on both the record player and the tabletop unit. Really fun, and the old records bring back memories!

This is a real belt drive turntable that surpasses what you would expect with the price.

It has a wide range of input/output options and controls. You can use the included software to burn your vinyls to MP3 and place on your MP3 player or smart phone. Fabulous!

It's heavy, well built and high quality. My friend LOVED THIS as a gift!

Excellent little thing. Speakers aren't too good (they pass, but in a large room the sound will get drowned out by, say, a microwave or the television or conversation, or virtually any other electronic device). A pair of decent little speakers in the aux or RCA jacks will fix that.

I've noticed a problem others have mentioned, namely that the auto-stop feature stops before the record is finished, but this only happens with singles and only on the last 8-or-so seconds. On full sized records this is not a problem.

Audio-snobs will say it's cheap and will break down--or worse, ruin your records. If it breaks down, so be it, it's under a year warranty, and beyond that, what more could you ask from a 40 dollar record player? As for scratching your records, that's bunk. I've even experimented with pristine records, playing the same groove dozens of times in a row and listening for new pops. None. So don't believe that noise.

If you're looking to convert to mp3, that's probably where this little gadget fails. The quality is very low, sounds like radio quality, and at that point why even convert the superior audio format of vinyl if it's just going to degrade to below digital standards? This isn't the machine for that.

All in all, a great product, better than some slightly more expensive ones (Crosleys etc.).

I have a MacBook and was concerned because my laptop does not have DVD/CD hardware. I ordered this based on reviews, it arrived and I connected it via the enclosed USB cable. Plugged it in and it played records fine. Then I went to download the software, but the link in instruction book did not open. After a little surfing I found the link, no problems, just make sure you read how it wants you to save it. Recorded some songs from old vinyl, and saved them. Then I exported them as MP3s to my Documents folder, again you will need to download something but the link is there in the program so it was quick and easy. Went to my iTunes library, imported them from Documents, and my six "test songs" went into the library so fast I thought it didn't take. Synced phone to library, and sure enough, I now have music on my phone that was previously only on vinyl. I am very happy with this purchase and will be using it often, and look forward to walks and jogs with all new music that I already have on albums and don't have to pay to download. It has a recording volume control and ranges in real time from green to yellow to red so you know when it may be getting too "hot" and loud. Other features I have not tried yet.

If you want to listen to your vinyl records, buy a good belt- or direct-drive turntable with a viscous-damped automatic weighted tonearm, hook it up to a good amplifier and a pair of good speakers. This isn't really best suited for listening.

For digitizing your vinyl records so that you can listen to the music wherever you happen to be though, this is terrific. It's really compact. I can store it under my desk when I'm not using it. Since it has built-in speakers, all I need to do to start recording directly to my computer is plug the turntable into the wall and hook it up to my USB port. It's so small and light it can sit on a box at the side of my desk.

Audacity is included on a disc, but you don't need to use it if it doesn't suit you. I record using ocenaudio (free) running on a Mac, but any audio recording software you care to use will do the trick. This is not the highest-quality solution, but it's a good affordable one, and I recommend it.

Awesome piece to listen to some old records. I really enjoyed showing my kids how it used to be in my day. They were fascinated. Works perfectly, just as described.
