Easy to use just plug and play. No additional software needed. My none any laptop or computer have DVD reader. This player work out for me perfect. Light weight for travel use.
This external DVD driver is very easy to use. I did not even read the instructions. Just plug in the USB, put in the DVD, wait a few seconds for it to read and I’m ready to watch a movie!
Totally worth the price!
It works well. My only complaint is that the USB cable is really short. I put a USB extender so I could put the unit where I wanted, but it DID NOT WORK with the extender. Stay away from this unless you can sit this drive right next to your computer's USB port,
I'm asked to rate the features "Easy to use," "Light weight," and "Easy to install." Attacking the last one first, there IS no installation. This is the very description of "Plug and Play." It's extremely light. And it's not only easy to use, but it has also worked perfectly in my experience. I'd take a dozen if I had any use for more than the one. Recommendation: Get one, before they're sold out.
Since I have a MacBook Air, it comes w/o a DVD drive. I needed one to download some programs and pictures.
I went to BestBuy around the corner, but the least expensive one was $.49.00
I took a chance on this . For $26.00 you can't go wrong. It does everything the $50..00 Dell does.

Some have complained of the short cable, but I found that is better. I don't have a long cable to worry about. It just sits right next to my laptop. And, because it's short, it snugs right into the cable groove in the backside of the unit for easy storage.
You don't need to download any programs or software to run this. Just set up the zone you are in. North America is in one 1.
My moves are crisp and sharp, and was able to transfer pictures effortlessly.

Note:
Prior to using the Disc drive, please make sure your computer contains Media player software. Customer's using Windows 10 are advised to Install VLC Media player to Play DVD and CD.
Instructions for use:
This product is a data line interface properly connected to USB port of the computer, the computer display lower right corner should appear device icon.
Click on the desktop, open the "my computer", in" the mobile storage device should display the drive icon".
Click on this icon button, select the "pop" in the tray into the oppropriate disk read.
This slim DVD-RW drive fits the bill well for the occasional need to read from a disc. The USB cable is part of the drive itself, and the bottom of the chassis has a convenient storage groove to hold the cable in place.
The design will work quite well for a laptop with a USB 3.0 port (the ones that typically have the blue connector inside), as there is no external power source for the hardware.
For desktop computers, you may need to sit the drive atop the computer it is attached to. I didn't have good luck with an extension cable when I wanted to run one for the drive to sit on my desk.
The drive inside is not the fastest, reading at only 24x speed from CDs, and 8x speed from DVDs, but for typical end user usage, such as watching the occasional DVD from Redbox, or reading that driver CD/DVD that came with a new piece of hardware, it's more than enough.
Update, a year later: the drive still works as expected. I was also able to detect the drive with my Android tablet, which has USB type C connectivity. I plugged in the hub for the tablet, then connected the drive there. The operating system saw a drive.
Most of new laptop doesn’t come with CD Rom as slim design, but sometimes CD Rom is still needed and useful for software installation and data backup. This portable external DVD is the solution. My new laptop doesn’t have an internal DVD drive. So I bought this to read/write disk for the laptop. I like its compact design. The size is barely bigger than a CD. It doesn’t require external power, just plug it in the USB drive of the computer and you’re good to go. There is also no additional software to be loaded. Easy and simple to use! Highly recommend.
This was a good, quick and cheap fix to the problem of my CD/DVD drive vanishing from my Acer laptop. I tried everything I found on the internet to restore the drive to no avail. I needed a CD player so I could transfer some music to a thumb drive and this was a quick way to take care of that.
This is very easy to use, just plug it in to the laptop and go!
The only negative is that the cord is a little short. But that is something I can live with!
I purchased this drive because my laptop doesn't have an internal disc drive and I wanted to have access to my DVD and CD collection. So far, so good! It is very simple to operate and no special software is needed. Just plug it into your computer and the appropriate software will open (either your music player or your video player). It is simple to pop the disc in and play. It's also very slim and doesn't take up a lot of room. I would recommend this item as a good value, especially for the price!
