Learning Resources Big Time Learning Clock, 12 Hour

The clock works great for our homeschool lessons. It is 13" tall and 13" across. You can move the hands from the front or there is a dial on the back you can use to move the hands. Unfortunately, you cannot move the minute hand independent of the hour hand. So, if you want to move from 12:00 to 3:00, you have to move the minute hand around the clock 3 times instead of just moving the hour hand to the 3. There is a little stand that attaches to the back. It tends to come out easily if you are not careful. But other than those 2 things, it really makes lessons on time more fun for the kids.

I bought this clock for my grandson to learn to tell time with his watch I purchased for his birthday. He is 5 years old. This works perfectly as the minute hand moves as you move the hour hand. We're not using the clock for him now, as he is telling time very well, but his brother who is 3, is starting to use it! The only problem is the stand on the back doesn't stay well sometimes. Just stick it back in, no problem.

My 3 1/2 year old is learning how to tell time. I first purchased a digital wrist watch for him. MISTAKE # 1. That really confused him. I then learned that toddlers must be introduced to telling time with regular analog clocks.....with hour and minute hands. I then purchased this, put his digital wrist watch in hiding and purchased an analog "clock" style timex wrist watch for him. In 3 days, he was able to tell time and when I told him "put it to 3:30" he would put the correct time on this learning clock. I also recommend that you also purchase a "clock" for your home if you don't have one....try to hide anything digital while they are learning the basics. Only after they have mastered the basics, do you want to introduce the digital stuff.

so......in summary, for a young toddler to learn and tell time you need :

1.This 12-hour demonstration clock
2. A wrist watch with a clock, no digital number read-out watches (search for timex toddler watch)
3. a wall mounted clock for your home that works and matches the time on his/her wrist watch.

Good luck !

Works well. The hands are a little off which is the only reason it's not 5 stars. But for teaching time it works great.

I got this for my 6 year old son with Autism. He recently got into telling time and started telling us the time every 10 minutes so I got him this to practice different time. He loves it.

Great teaching aid.
Geared, so running the minute hand around moves the hour hand correctly.

It's a BIG clock. Hoping to get some good use out of it when home school starts. It's much bigger than I had thought. For that reason, the price was more reasonable.

Aside from this being a little pricey for a plastic clock, my 7 year old daughter loves this. Her teacher uses the same model and she loves coming home and practicing!

My son is autistic and this is a great learning tool for him he loves telling time now it is so easy and simple for him to comprehend

Excellent clock face . Easy to read with hours and minutes
