This purchase is a Christmas gift, however I have purchased a different model from the same company and it seemed to be quality materials. It was put together by an 8 year old boy and he required some assistance to get started as all the pieces seemed overwhelming. Once the pieces were opened and put into easy accessible containers containers and he began to understand the instructions he had no problem completing it by himself. It seems solid and he really enjoyed putting it together and playing with it. Therefore, he is getting this one. I would recommend it and it is nice to build something with your hands instead of playing video games.
Love this set! My six year old needed some help to build it but it is much more sturdy when built than Legos and has held up to play much better.

I think that the age classification should be raised a bit.
The product itself is really quite good.
This stem toy is what I want. It is good for kids practical ability. My 8 year old boy took about 3 hours to build the tank model then he was so exciting to show it.
