The girl saw this and said "I love crushing chalk". I told her this kit is to crush chalk. And the I told her that after crushing up chalk, she can mix it with water and put stamps on the driveway or sidewalk. This kit comes with 16 Chalks, 1 Plastic Grinder, 1 Spray Bottle, 2 Stampers, 2 Chalk Brushes and 2 Chalk Rollers. Maximum fun for creative kids. You just know they will stamps themselves with designs too! This is for ages 5 and up. I think it is nice that the chalk has to be grated to turn it into a powder, which gives them something different to do. The girl will have something to do over the summer while she is here everyday complaining "I'm bored".
For whatever reason, kids like to destroy things. They just get a lot of fun out of it, so my kids loved that the first step in using this kit is to grind up chalk sticks. They asked, “We are supposed to grind them up? Is this okay?” I said “yes,” and they said “yay!” Who would’ve guessed? Another fun thing for kids is spraying water, in this case spraying water on ground up chalk. They also took the liberty of spraying a lot of other things too (cars, trash cans, each other). Then they painted their bikes with chalk and had fun for a long, long time. Whoever designed this set knows what kids like. Everything was simple to clean up.
This is better than I thought it would. The basic concept is a tray where there is some raised dots which let you essentially turn chalk into powder. A spray bottle lets you add water and mix it up into a little slurry. The rest of the kit are tools that let you stamp, paint, etc (couple of stamps, two rollers, two paintbrushes). It works really well, and looks pretty neat after it dries (one of the stamps is a dog paw print, so we made prints across the driveway). Comes with a couple of packs of chalk, but we started with the leftover broken pieces from our existing set.
This is a really fun idea! And it seems to work out pretty well in reality, too. The danger here is crushing up too much chalk and then running out prematurely, but if you can get the kids to take it easy, the stamps and roller designs are pretty fun. I can tell they enjoy it, and ...chalk washes away, thank God, so you only have to "enjoy" these priceless works of art until the next good rain. Definitely a nice source of unusual entertainment, and hopefully will endure in its effectiveness of getting the kids outside. Why not include powdered chalk?
This is a very simple kit but my boys (ages 5 and 3) love it. Not much slows them down so I wasn't sure if they would take the time to actually sit and grind the chalk (it's a bit tedious) but they did. They were so excited about the stamps (especially the paw print one) and had a lot of fun with this. It does take some strength to grind the chalk so younger kids would probably need help. This is a really fun toy though and one that my boys are eager to use again.

My grandkids had a blast with this chalk set. They crushed and mixed and stamped and drew the afternoon away and cleanup with super easy with a broom and garden hose. It encouraged their creativity and provided hours of fun. I’m sure they will want to use this again.
The kids love this chalk set. They have been playing for 3 hours now and still not tired of it. First, they played with the chalk, then the stamps and water bottle I think that was the most fun for them. I have been told we need another set as well.
Super cute set for "painting" in chalk and "stamping" in chalk. Wish the sponges were a bit more durable but its very cute. My daughter had more luck grinding chalk on the cement patio then on the included material.
My daughter loves it!
