This UFO was considerably cheaper - though with fewer "tricks". My daughter wasn't really interested in the tricks anyway.
The device is simple to use and entertaining. It makes a high pitched whine (see video) that is not too annoying as to be unbearable (like the Supernova). The kids like playing with the UFO, but I think the bottom sensor is either too sensitive, or the altitude is set too high. Toddlers and elementary aged kids (for whom it is specifically advertised) are too short to be able to interact with it consistently. They end up having to climb up onto the couch or wait for it to descend.
The battery lasts for 5-10 minutes - which sounds short. I guess it depends on how much you or your kids want to play with it. A replaceable battery would be helpful. Charging takes approximately 40 minutes or so (we don't really keep track). Basically, you have 5-10 minutes per day.
I think the design would be a bit better if there were a top sensor. It will often sense one of the kids underneath it, rise up out of their way, and get stuck on the ceiling. I have to get it down and restart the flight.
There are two light sensing diodes on the opposite sides of the body cage - and it spins as it hovers, so approaching the UFO will block some of the light, which will cause the UFO to fly away from you. This action works just fine, though children tend to chase it, which causes it to keep going away. If it approaches the wall, or another object, it will change direction 180°.
The issue is with the bottom sensor and the default altitude hold. When you initially set the UFO aflight, it will hover around 4 feet high. This is fine for adults, but for young children, that is high. The kids will have to get very close to it in order to reach the side - and since there is a bottom sensor, it will register that as an approach, causing the UFO to ascend. This puts it way out of reach for the children. Most of the time, if the kids back away, it will come back down in a few seconds (instructions say it takes 2 seconds if no input is detected - it is difficult to keep little kids away from it for 2 entire seconds). And since the bottom sensor range is approximately 4 feet, a 3 foot tall child underneath the UFO counts as an input, so it tries to go up even farther. With this input, the UFO will ascend to the ceiling and get stuck (it keeps trying to ascend). That's when you have to get it down (and flip it upside down to stop it). If the default altitude hold were lower and/or there were a top sensor, I think the kids would enjoy playing with it even more.
The one final issue I have with it is the charger. It charges via a USB cable with a tiny (tiny, tiny) barrel connector. We routinely misplace the thing. We will charge the UFO, use it, charge it again, disconnect, save UFO for later, misplace the USB cable, play with the UFO, look for the USB, find it, charge it, repeat. The charger is currently MIA, so not sure when we'll be able to charge it again. If it were charged via a micro-USB, we have scores of them all over the house.
update: instead of placing in your hand and extending it as stated which of course does nothing, you need to throw it in the air. Got the second one and of course it did the same thing. By then I was mad and tossed it. Bamn took of in the air and both have been a fabulous hit. Needs more instructions otherwise it’s pretty cool 🤣🤣🤣
This product is amazing!!! Customer service is unbelievable. Don't ever hesitate to buy this product because if you have any problems with it, just get a hold of them and they will take care of you. Very fast shipping and most important it works and durable! Very well made and i highly recommend. I just wish it could fly much longer. I hope soon they will upgrade the battery for much longer play time. Over all its fun!!!
I was looking to buy a small gift for my nephew's birthday. So I chanced upon this on Amazon and decided to give this a try as I saw him drawing pictures of UFOs. He was delighted upon opening his birthday gift, and this works easily. It might need to be calibrated, but you just flip the switch on and give it a small hurl - and off it goes in the air! Its sensors are smart, in that it knows when to ascend or descend. Easy to operate and totally free from the hassles of needing a remote control. It does need to be recharged periodically though. Overall, I think this made my nephew really happy for his birthday!

It's a fairly intuitive little toy. So far, it's the most fun we've had with anything drone-like, since it doesn't run away, crash, and break propellers.
Unfortunately, just as the battery was getting low after our first flight session, it found its way under our couch and got cat hair wrapped up in one of the rotors. I tried for 30 minutes to dig it out with a pocket knife and it still won't spin as freely as the other propellers. So, definitely keep away from hair of any kind! If we can't get it to fly right again, I'm probably just going to buy another one since I had as much fun as my son did in the 8 minutes we had with it...

Purchased for my son's 6th birthday.
I know it says 14+ but reviews made me want to give it a shot.
At 1st appearance I thought it appeared flimsy, however I put it to the test and was pleasantly surprised.
It withstood some good collisions and my dog attacking it. While I recommend avoiding such incidents, it still works like a champ. Not sure who enjoyed it more, the kids or the adults
Will be ordering more for the older grandkids
This is a cool toy! At first, I thought because of the lightweight feel that this was some cheap thing I had purchased. WRONG! This mini drone is a lot of fun and has great power. We had a blast trying to keep it in the air and at the same time running around the house. My 8-year old loves it. I do not recommend taking it outside, as it can very easily get away from you. But then again, that's part of the fun! I gave it 4-stars only because the propellers seem to keep coming off. (Sometimes, it lands hard, especially if it got up high!).
We didn't expect much considering the reviews however this thing is surprisingly fun. It basically flies around and avoids crashing into things in most cases. You can use your hand to direct it away from certain directions - once it gets near your hand it will fly away from your hand. Battery isn't much but considering how small this is you shouldn't expect too much anyway. The plastic cage is a soft malleable plastic, not hard and brittle. I wouldn't use it outside unless you want to lose it.
I got this drone for my 3 yr old for Christmas. It initially had some problems with a propeller hitting inside it so we exchanged it for a new one. My son loves it. He thinks it is super neat that he can just throw it and it will start flying. These are perfect for little kids that would not be able to fly a remote drone. It drives my dog crazy as well which is pretty funny to watch. The battery doesn’t last for way long. We play with it for around 15 min then plug it in to charge. Charging doesn’t take way long so it is ok. I bought this drone and another brand of drone this Christmas. This one has turned out to be the better drone. My biggest complaint is that I don’t think it is worth 40$. I got mine with a coupon so it cost me 27$. I spent 40$ on the other drone and it didn’t work 3 weeks after Christmas. I think 25$ is a good price for these.
