Your puppy probably won’t take to this immediately and that’s okay. It shouldn’t take long to get him/her to if you follow these simple instructions.

1) Wait for your puppy to have an accident in the house (preferably on hard flooring).

2) Remove the grass and use it to absorb some of the urine on your floor.

3) After the grass has the scent of urine on it, place it back onto the black plastic/deck.

Now, your puppy will smell the urine and will intuitively know what to do πŸ˜‰.

Really like this product! My chihuahua has only a cement area accessed by a doggie door to relieve herself. I had built her a pen from PVC. It was a mess! I bought this, and she used it from the first day, no problems. I solved the problem of the grass turf moving by using Velcro command strips. Cut them into small 3/4” squares, and attached one to each corner. They’re easily replaced when they get dirty. Also, I had a box of puppy pads left, so cut them to fit the pull out drawer. I get 4 pieces from each pad. So much easier to simply toss the urine soaked pad and replace it rather than having to try to empty pee without spilling it🀒 This product solves my stinky, messy problem. I recommend it.

Works as expected, i have an old dog that cant hold her bladder. She uses this if its her only option, took her awhile to learn to use it but after putting her peepads on it enough she got the hint. The only flaw is the grass comes off too easily and it starts to really stink after a couple uses even if you clean it. Also if the tray gets very hard to slide it out and empty without getting pee all over your hands and floor.

amazing. shopped around and did my research on potty training pads for puppies. Grass immitation turfs are the EASIEST way to train your pup! They instincitively know that they should do their business there, much easier to clean up and cost efficient than white sheet pads.

This was by far the most luxurious; high quality and most affordable. I love that there is a tray underneath that collects the pee for you. Other grass potty turfs dont have the tray to collect excess pee so the puppy ended up leaving pee marks everywhere, thankfully this unique designs take away that issue! No pee leakage either like the previous one we bought from petco
PERFECT size. Big enough for puppy to be comfortable with re-using and still easy to place anywhere

The grass turf is also much thicker and plush, making it wasier to clean up puppy's no 2's.

I'm honestly shocked this worked. I live on the top floor and my little guy (a Pomchi) has a hard time waiting in the morning. And with cold winter weather he often won't go. He's about 4 months now but I tried the actual grass that's delivered every couple of weeks when he was 2 months and it was hit and miss for him. However he loved going on the snag area rug (which he ruined) and the similarly textured bathroom mats (also ruined). I resolved to try the actual grass again but while throwing the rug away thought perhaps he would prefer the artificial grass since he loved going on the rug. This unit Is the same price as the actual grass (which is just a piece of overpriced sod) This (with replacement grass) will cost under $100 per year and the real stuff would be $500 to $800 a year, and considering the amount of stuff he's ruined I prayed this would work.
At first he played on it but got the hang really quickly after I put some of his urine on it and a couple of pieces of stool. Within a week there were no more accidents!
If I had a dog larger than this I don't know if I would want this in my living space but he's so tiny I put it in a conspicuous corner in the bathroom and I barely notice it and he still will go outside when I take him outside which is great.
I don't think every dog we take the artificial grass the way he did definitely grateful that he's weird like that.
Only real complaints are the grass is a tiny bit cut too small for the tray but that's probably just a fluke and it will washing the grass will come loose rather easily.

I read a lot of reviews about setting up the indoor dog potty system & it would not have been my preferred choice for puppy training. However, I got my 6 lb puggle puppy in January & it has been a rough Wisconsin winter so he did not have the endurance to do walks in the snow & ice. That meant I needed to develop an effective system for potty training until we can convert to daily walks. I am not keen on having the associated smells that go along with an indoor system; there is nothing worse than walking into your house & immediately smelling animal waste. I have figured out how to make sure there is no smell but it doesn't come without some work.

I purchased 2 of these synthetic grass pads to work with the tray that I purchased separately. Complaints about the turf was the inevitable smell & deterioration over time. What I do is line the tray first with a pee pad & then put the turf on top of it. The pee pad is changed each day, rolled up, wrapped & tied in a plastic bag & then disposed of so my kitchen garbage doesn't smell. Each week, I take the entire tray & grass pad down to my laundry tub & run the water so it is smoking hot. I wash down the tray first. Then I put the stopper in the tub & fill it high enough to cover the entire turf pad, add 1/4 cup of cleaning vinegar, & flip it around a few times. Then I let the water out & repeat the process but this time let it sit & soak until the water is cool (sometimes I may forget it until the following day). After soaking for a while, I drain the tub & rinse the grass pad one last time before hanging it over the line to dry. Meanwhile, I take the second grass pad that has been hanging from the previous week to use when I set the tray back up in the corner of my kitchen. I alternate the turf pads each week. There is some shedding of the grass, but so far they have worked for 2 months. If they start to really fall apart, I'll order 2 more.

My house does not smell at all. There are some times when my puppy is standing on the tray but he is positioned so that he is not peeing entirely on the tray & it goes on the floor next to the tray. Then I first wipe it up using toilet paper & dispose of it (along with any dog waste) in the toilet. Afterwards I use Nature's Miracle to sanitize the floor. Both the vinegar & Nature's Miracle are not harmful to my puppy which is why I prefer them to bleaches & other cleansers.

I hope this is helpful. Now that the snow is melting, we have lots of huge puddles so walking my puppy is still a challenge. I am eager for things to dry out so we can begin a regular system of daily walks & I won't have to rely solely on this system but it has gotten us through the winter.

My dog, when I put it down sniffed around it and before I knew it, I caught him using it. I did not have to make him use it, he just peed on it without any coaching from me. Wonderful product.

This is working out very well for my old and incontinent dog. She hates to go out in the cold winter weather. We put the toy pad in the bathroom near the living room. She uses it when we're out, sleeping, showering, and when it's so cold she doesn't want to go outside.
She's not perfect. Sometimes she'll have her head over the the potty pad but pee off the side. I wish we would have trained her to use this when she was younger and smaller.

It took a week for my dog to get used to using this. She’s 9 and the only astroturf she pottied on was the one outside the pet supply store so i know she would go on it if i got this.
So... She would not go on it at all when I first got it but i was determined to make it work. There was a week with non stop rain last month and it was not fun going out there. Rain was pouring and even with her coat and booties, she would not potty outside.
So I finally wised up and i got this for my balcony. At first she didn’t know what the deal was. I would put on her leash and take her over. She would sniff, walk in it, walk off and look at me. So I took a sample of her urine and stool next time she went potty. I smeared a teeny bit (doesn't take much) on the “grass” and that was when she knew what it was for. It still took her several days to go on it on command but over a week later now she’s taken to it and goes right away.
It’s awesome! I took the advice of another reviewer and got some potty training pads to stick in the little drawer where the urine goes and clean up is SO much easier now. I just fold it a couple times until it fits in the square tray. I do feel like it is a waste though because i pretty much have to change it out every time she uses it. I wish the tray was a little bigger so I don’t have to change it every time. She’s 25lbs so she just barely makes the cut. I made her use it this week so she would get used to it but I’m just going to use it for late night potty breaks or when it rains from now on.
If you are patient, you should be able to train your dog to use this. My dog is a stubborn 9yr old beagle. If she can do it, yours should be able to as well.

My dog loves it. Absolutely loves laying on it and looking out on his kingdom of things he’d like to be wizzing on. This pad, however, is not one of them. I’ve tried catching his pee and dumping it on there to show him he CAN pee on it, but I think I’ve only accomplished establishing that it’s HIS pad to lay on. Sure I could’ve gone with an ugly, smart dog but no. Super cute and goes wee everywhere but here.
