I sometimes feel like I’ve spent more in Lightning cables than I did in my iPhone 6S+. I recall the original OEM cable living a few weeks. Apple’s original cables are also always too short.
My battery never lasts, so yes, I use my phone while it’s charging. Apple designed a phone with a cable on the bottom. That means the “bend” will always be a design flaw iPhone users most contend with. Battery cases are no fun, so a durable lightning cable is what I need.
After my latest Syncwire cable succumbed to “the bends,” I started looking for a new option. I wrapped electrical tape around the old cable while I searched Amazon for my next option. All my store-bought cables had meet their fate, while my online purchases did somewhat better. So I read review after review. I felt like online dating was easier that finding a durable lightning cable.
And then, I see there’s a new version of the Anker PowerLine. My excitement was palpable. I ordered it almost instantly after reading the listing. I was in a parking lot of an electronics store. I had walked out without buying a lightning cable because I had previously killed nearly every one they had on stock.
I eagerly awaited the arrival of my PowerLine II. I expected a lot based on the Amazon listing. When I opened it, I immediately noticed it’s much thinker. That was a good sign! The connector was also solid and it fit snuggly into my phone. It charged quickly. I was very happy with the purchase.
So far, so good. The “bend” hasn’t killed it. No shocks are unraveling. No exposed wires. It’s pretty much performing as well as the day it arrived (about a month ago). By this time I would have expected wear.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 Stars is that the “bend” stays. I really wish a company would design a cable designed to bend and just not withstand the bend. I’ll also include a picture of how the cable now has a permanent bend.
I do love this cable! Kudos to Anker. If it makes six months, i’ll update this review
I purchased this item last year but I’m just getting around to post the review now... which is probably better off since it’s the only charger I use for my phone and other Apple products that I own. So you can easily say I’ve gotten quite a lot of use out of it continuously since then. This cable still works perfectly, as if it were brand new... it’s very strong and sturdy. Each end of the cable plugs in to the phone and port securely as it should. No wiggling or connection issues. That’s coming from the girl who’s 100% guilty of laying in bed using her phone while it’s plugged in, pulling and turning every which way. But this long wire has no sign of tearing, bending, stretching, etc. And I have to admit I swear by Anker products and have no problem speaking highly of their customer service also. They’re great. Some of my micro usb cables were purchased from them as well, except they are the nylon braided wires and I love them. I’m not sure if it’s just me but these cables (and even some of the Amazon Basic cables) have all managed to outlast every cable Apple has ever made or sold themselves. And with the warranty that’s offered with these cables, you really can’t go wrong. I’d never spend another extra dime on any new genuine Apple cable again. I’m very happy with this product and would definitely purchase another one in the future! Yes, it’s recommended!
EDIT-08/18/18
I was contacted by Anker customer service and was promptly sent a replacement. The replacement has been functioning correctly so far. The customer service experience was great and very quick. This has reaffirmed my confidence with anker and their products. I have changed the review to 5 stars.
This cable completely stopped working. There are no excessive bends or kinks in it and no twisting of the cable. I always buy Anker cables/products as I find the quality to be high and the prices are great. Unfortunately this particular cable has failed me. I have continued to buy other products from Anker and have not seen this issue, maybe it was just a dud. Hope they can sort this issue out in the future.
This Anker cable is much sturdier than the cable which comes with the iPhone. Given that I just received it I will update my review regarding durability accordingly in the future. As of now I am impressed with how well this cable fits the plug/wall adapter and the iPhone itself; there is no rattling nor misfit on either end which is a common problem with after market cables. It also comes with a cable wrap for tying up extra lead which is quite useful since I got the 6 footer. It is much thicker than the original (iPhone) cable so I’m assuming it should last longer than the two years it took for the original to fail. I also registered it with Anker to get the lifetime warranty and given Anker’s track record I am certain that they will honor that warranty. Thanks Anker.
These are simply the best cables I've had. I don't buy cheap cables either. I've always bought good quality cables and don't mind paying the price. But these are way better than any cable I've used and for a very decent price. U can't go wrong. Lifetime warranty, too?!? It's a no-brainer. The cable feels strong. The texture is a soft & velvety and makes for easy grip to disconnect; no slippery fingers. It's very pliable, bends like a normal cable, not like the flat cables that tend to spiral or the braided cables that kink. I by a set of 3' and 6' cables in 1 color and when I replace them, I buy another color so I know roughly how old they are and since they come in colors that's great! But I don't think I'll need to replace these anytime soon.

I buy tons of stuff on Amazon - TONS - but don’t usually take time to write reviews but I had to write one about this cable. I don’t know what it is but I must be particularly hard on them. They all were crimping and twisting right below where you plug it in to the phone. I kept buying ever more expensive cables because they made promises that they would last but within weeks I would start having problems and they’d stop working. Very frustrating and expensive! This cable was my last resort! I want to tell you that it’s been fantastic! I am 6 months in and not one sign of bending, crimping or twisting! Wonderful! I would definitely purchase again - but I don’t think I’ll have to!
I think I have finally found a six foot cable that works! Have been using this for over 2 months now and it has worked from flawlessly from the start. I'm done with the "cheap" cables, they last for maybe a couple of weeks - if you're lucky. Although more expensive than the "cheap" cables, the price for this cable was reasonable, especially if it lasts. I'm hoping I can update this in a year and tell you it's still going strong!
Update 1/13/18
It’s been over six months and first cable is still going strong. Just bought a second one as all the “cheap” cables (I had purchased 2 sets of 5) are dead and in the garbage. Price was $2 more but still reasonable if it lasts.
Needed a new cable so I went with my favorite brand Anker! I ordered the 6ft and wow! The quality is real nice and the cable is twice as thick as the one Apple provides.
I also like they included a little velcro strap to bunch the wire up when not in use! Highly recommend!
Anker cables are great! They feel much like the old ones. These are higher quality than some of the no name brands on Amazon or eBay selling discounted cables. I haven't had one complain that it was not compatible with iOS yet - I've used Anker cables for about 6 months now. No issues.
The 6 ft. is definitely a lifesaver. I recently moved and my outlets are further away from my nightstand / bed than my old place. The extra 3 ft. makes charging doable without an extension cord or surge protector.
I ordered 4 of these and they are great. I have had to do warranty claims on 2 of them. one of them I had to do a claim on twice but each time Anker has been super easy toi work with. these are truly the last Lightning cable you will ever buy. my youngest daughters has been replaced twice under warranty probably because she uses her phone while it is charging my wifes was replaced once but that was because the dog chewed it. Anker is amazing. a couple of photos was all that was needed to do the claim, this last time they also sent a shipping label so I could sent the bad one back for them to do an autopsy on the see why it failed and they cross shipp it .
