You can read my original review after my update. I purchased these pencils a long time ago and did set aside my Prismacolor Premier pencils to use these. After a while, I found a lot of imperfections. The big one is that a lot of the pencils don't seem to be mixed together thoroughly, e.g., while using a blue pencil, it will suddenly have streaks of violet in the lead.
Needless to say, I no longer use these pencils and suggest spending a little more money for a better quality... unless, you're getting them for a kid or something. Also, I think I was in denial about each pencil being its own unique color, a lot of them look the same color, maybe for a slight difference.

My original review:
Just like my headline says, I'm pleasantly surprised by these colored pencils. I wanted to try an oil based color pencil, but couldn't afford the Fibercastell brand, I picked these colored pencils on the fact that there's 160 different colors AND the description actually says they are oil based. I really like these, the pigment is great and by pushing hard, I can actually fill in the teeth of the paper, where when I push hard with my Prismacolor pencils, they do not fill in all the teeth. Honestly, I put my Prismacolor pencils aside and decided to only use these for now. I am only a beginner and don't really know much about this stuff, but this is my 4th set of colored pencils (all different brands) that I've purchased and these might be my favorite. I should also mention that my Prismacolor colorless blender pencil seems to work with these, not dramatically like it does with its own brand, but I think that's a good thing to know. I found these are a little easier to erase too. I forgot to mention that they come with a DIY color chart, which is super awesome. I have a bit of OCD and my color pencils HAVE to stay in the exact order that they came in. This is the first color pencil I've purchased that does not have an example of the colors (in order) on the box and the numbering system on the pencils are not helpful for THIS issue.

This 160 set of Wanshui Colored Pencils are gorgeous containing bold, vibrant, and soft colors. I compare their quality to my Prismacolor Premiers. The pencils arrived well packaged and in perfect condition, pre-sharpened with no broken points. They come in a nice plastic case and holds 5 plastic pencils trays that can be pulled out of the case when in use. The pencils are oil based, the colors lay down very smooth, and they blend beautifully. This is a great set of colored pencils and you cannot beat the price. There are no color names on the round pencil barrels, but each pencil is numbered with a high quality look to them. I am pleased enough that I am considering a second set as a backup for future use. My satisfaction is 100% and I recommend this beautiful set of 160 Wanshui Colored Pencils to anyone who loves to color.

I am reviewing these pencils according to price. Had these pencils been more expensive I would not have given them 5 stars but for the price they are a really good deal.
There are 160 different colors in the case. Some may look like the same color but they are a bit lighter or darker in shade.
The pencils do not have names on them but they do have a number. The pencils also have a DIY color chart included. I wish other pencils would come with a chart.
The case the pencils come in is not the best and the trays are kind of flimsy. The pencils are thinner then most but they sharpen real well and I have had no issue with breakage. I used a electric pencil sharpener for these pencils and was able to sharpen to a fine point.
I had no issue with shading and think these pencils would be real good to use on adult coloring books.
I whould say save you money on the more expensive colored pencils and try this brand. Better than most brands and much cheaper.

These pencils are wonderful! As a teacher and mother, I think these pencils should be in every classroom and house.
I love that they are presharpened! It also comes with a DIY color list, which my kids loved making, and a nice plastic case to carry them. I will be buying a second set for sure!

Great pencils that layer and blend beautifully with a couple of problems.
First the pencils aren't organized. There's maybe a group of red then some blue and then some green. Move to the next tray and find another grouping of reds, blues, and greens. I've never had to organize my own pencils before.
Second you have a white, but no off whites.
Third, out of 168 colors there are only 3 yellows. Lots of reds, greens, blues, etc., but only 3 yellows. One of these is a nice deep yellow that you will use a lot. Will I need to buy a whole new set once a month to replace this color? With the other colors their are choices that are so close that it won't matter if one is used up.
Fourth, most of the barrel colors don't match the pencil color. The darkest green, blue, brown, and two of the grays have black barrels.
If you get these dump them all out on the table, organize them, then do the color chart. You will definitely be referring to this chart a lot.
BUT even with these problems the pencils are well worth it.

First there were two empty slots. I counted 158 not 160. These color pencils are not what i wanted. I didnt realize they are oil based. Unfortunately i didn't know what oil-based meant. So read the descriptions. these are not good for blending. they are not good on grey scale pictures. they ware down immediately. you have to constantly sharpen. I color for 8 hours a day at my job so i need at least decent pencils. I just want regular color pencils. these aint it. 30 wasted. Im sad.

I'm going to address the BAD first, and then go on to say why I think these are STILL worthy of 5 stars even with the flaws.. (hint..part of the title)

1. About 10 pencils are bowed slightly, however they sharpen fine
2. Barrel colors is all over the map. You'll need to sort these by a scratch test, and you WILL NEED A COLOR CHART.
3. About 6 pencils have a slight split in the "manufacturer" sharpened point. I was able to sharpen them out.
4. Packaging is a nightmare. The trays pop pencils out, the carryall is flimsy, You're going to need a better case.
5. A *few* lighter pencils are very dry and scratchy. Most are a very nicely pigmented medium/soft texture.
6. VERY skimpy on the light blue shades, and solid orange shades.

Okay. With that out of the way, let me tell you why these are still worth 5 stars, in my opinion.

THE COLOR SELECTION IS THROUGH THE ROOF! With the exception of the above mentioned, the yellows, browns, greens, purples, pinks, reds - are insane! There are at least 3 pencils that can be used as a true red shade. Those of you that color lots of nature, scenery, caricature, and leafy pages are going to be in HEAVEN!

FIFTEEN CENTS A PENCIL PEOPLE. I mean come on. You aren't going to get perfection when you are paying 15-20 cents a pencil. I wouldn't even expect that. HOWEVER. The quality of the COLOR, the smooth pigmented texture of the cores..for the most part far exceeds anything I have seen from Crayola, Arteza, and Feela, and that's actually pretty good for bargain pencils. No, you're not getting Prisma's or Poly's here. Yes, you are going to have a few flaws, maybe a few that will need a couple extra trips to the sharpener. But, what you have left after that, is still a HUGE AMOUNT of really nice QUALITY pencils!! If you can look past the flaws, and still recognise what a huge value these are, then BUY THEM! YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!

P.S. To all the reviewers who complain about sharpening, and anyone considering these or other mid range/bargain pencils: Please buy an electric or battery operated sharpener. Bargain pencils WON'T BREAK if you use a quality motorized sharpener.

I recieved the Wanshui oily colored pencils on-time and in pretty good condition. However some of the tips of the pencils had been chipped during the shipping process. I don't think this was the fault of the seller at all. If you're looking for standard colored pencils in a wide range of colors, I'd recommend going with these. You get the most colors possible within this price range. Great for anyone who just started getting into coloring as an adult or even as a child! They came in a nice carrying case that makes it easy to transport.

Pencils are lovely and I am going to enjoy using them particularly with the wide range of shades. However, in filling out the DIY color chart I found that there were 2 #019 pencils and no #055 pencil. Since one of the answers to a question said there were no duplicates I thought I would suggest that you check your set carefully when you receive it. Since the pencils are not in numerical order I would suggest writing out numbers from 1 to 160 and checking them off.

Very good quality sketching pencils and a huge variety of shades and lead sizes. Our Son In Law is a very gifted artist but he's got away from it because of work and our 2 year old Granddaughter so we wanted to get him some drawing supplies for Christmas to encourage him to start drawing again we bought 2 very good quality sketch pad and these professional pencils when he opened the gift he immediately got tears in his eyes and his excitement was easy to see he took my Wife and I aside later Christmas day and told us he had been wanting to start drawing again but he couldn't get the great quality supplies he needed so these were appreciated very very much. We don't know a great deal about art supplies and were hoping these were as good as their described to be and they are and then some with the variety in this set he will be set up for quite awhile he told us these we some of the best pencils he had ever used there's nothing he will draw that these won't work for their smooth when they need be, sharp when he wants them to be and he can draw so many different shades he absolutely loves these so we're very happy with these and wouldn't hesitate to buy them again when he needs more and hopefully that's soon because using these his work is beautiful.
