I bought this book to use as a decoration and an emergency light when the power goes out from storms. It sits on the corner of the coffee table, and guests to your home are impressed first by the quality of the wood cover, but when they open it and the light comes on, they are always delighted (no pun intended). We used it during the recent spate of storms twice, and it gives you enough light to move around, but it's not glaring or blinding like a flashlight. Great purchase, and yes, we have given a couple away as gifts now.
I got this as a gift for my wife. She loves that when not in use it looks just like her other books, but when in use it has a nice soft ambient light. Not quite enough light to read a book from at night as it is on the nightstand.
I like that this was a unique lamp. I use it as a night light and a bed side lamp. I have also used it as a classroom lamp during calming rest periods for preschool.
This is a nice size folded or unfolded. The magnetic closure is strong enough to keep it in place for reading when my other lamp is too bright. I really like the different color levels for just the right light when I need it.
Actually made of real wood . Other brands I bought had fake wood stick on cover . Actually changes into three shades of pleasant easy to use white . Some brands only have one color . Appears to be well built . First time I let it run down a full charge it lasted about 4 hrs .

Admittedly, I have only had it for about a week, and so I cant speak to durability or long-term reliability. But, other than that, I love it love it love it. It is so small and light (no pun intended) you can carry it almost anywhere you need a good amount of light, it has three settings which I love because the bright one is good when you really need to see, the middle one I have never used, and the more muted one is perfect when your light-sensitive partner is already asleep but you need to find your way into bed in the dark.
It is design-wise beautiful, real wood cover (thats why I picked this one over the others) and substantial, high quality paper inside. I saw this in the MOMA a few years ago and love that I can get a knock off at a bargain price. My only wish is that they would put it on sale so I could get the larger size or a few more as gifts for $15 or so. Right now its a bit pricey for me to buy more than one!
This is a wood binding book light, it’s not soft. But you do need to watch your fingers when you open and close this lamp as it can catch them. My husband who I didn’t buy it for but ends up using it in the morning as a light for when he gets ready in the kitchen. It doesn’t distract or disturb me in any way. We also use it at night to light up a room. It’s very nice and relaxing. It’s the small size but I would get another one we love it so much! Easy to charge usb outlet to charge is used.

I love this little book lamp. It's very well crafted and I can actually read a book by the lighting without disturbing my husband's sleep. I can also walk around at night with it not needing to flip on other lights. I got mine from Bosqueen, it got here way faster than expected.
We use these types of lights around our house to light up our living to watch TV with less intrusive lighting. Works well. Stays on for 6-8 hours before needing a quick recharge.
