As you know I review alot of products and I have always been a fan of Auto-Vox since they make quality products at an affordable price. I understand it's slightly more money then other wireless backup camera systems but this one seems to work the best. The system is easy to install and you only have to run a wire to your reverse light bulb wire. **IF you have a German car or if your car has bulb sensing which means it knows if your bulb is out you must purchase 12V DC power adapter filter $6**
Once you hook up to the reverse bulb and plug in the wireless transmitter your literally done! The next step is just plugging in the screen to the cigarette lighter.
Overall this system took me less then 10mins to have it working. I would strongly recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to run the wire to the front of the car.
I also have to admit the little LEDs really do a great job of lighting up the area. I really don't have any cons.... Maybe future models can include a 12V DC power adapter filter. Other then that I am VERY satisfied with this unit and encourage anyone that's on the fence to buy it.

I spent about a month researching cameras from different suppliers and different sources. Reading reviews from "Tech's" and customers alike and in the end I choose the Auto-Vox because they had a small amount of bad reviews and a large amount of positive reviews from everybody that reviwed the camera. So I bought on line from Amazon, they shipped really fast and it really really really took less than an hour to install. (But I watched about twenty "You Tube" videos on the matter first) so when I got down to it I had the tools i needed and parked in the shade and was installed and viewing in less than an hour, about an hour and a half if you include "put tools away" time. The camera takes about a second or two to come up but that's no problem because it takes that long to check out the side mirrors first. The picture itself is a little grainy but certainly clear enough to see and to use for backing up during the day. ( In one of the reviews that I read online, the customer said that he replace the antenna with another one that was rated higher, 8dBi, and the graininess cleared up. The connector is SMA female so it was easy to find it in my router parts spares. I swapped out the one Auto-Vox supplied with a Linksys 8dBi antenna and sure enough the picture went from grainy to clear). The evening backup is just as clear for me but may not be as clear for you as I have replaced my backup lights with bright white LED lights and they augment the camera LED'S nicely. So if you install this camera I would replace your backup lights with LED's. I got mine at "Auto Zone" for my Town and Country only cost about $6 dollars a bulb. For me that was a small additional expense as I do a lot of night time driving and perform a lot of back-up work so the additional lighting and the camera has given me a great deal of confidence and added safety. One thing to keep in mind is that all cars bought or sold in 2019 will be required to have backup cameras and that's according to the National Safety Council. For me spending $135 dollars ( approx. total for camera antenna and LED lights with all taxes). was a small investment for a needed safety upgrade and a big return. Avoid one small fender bender or better yet a pet a child or a small something behind you and the camera is paid for. I did four stars only because I don't believe that you should have to modify something you buy for a specific need, but as you can see I am not above modifications when I need them. I would recommend the camera to friends and other family members and in fact have installed it in my wife's car also. Safe driving.

Installed this on a F150 2017 XL with SuperCab and 5.8' bed. Since I bought an XL version, a basic work truck, it did not come with a backup camera. After reviewing several options I chose this. It is amazing and works without issue. Like other reviews the delay when you place the vehicle in reverse is about 2 seconds, which is fine with me.

Couple things to consider if you are installing this on a base truck like mine:

1. Make sure the Camera is seated appropriately so when you lower the gate it doesn't hit it.
2. In order to mount the Antenna portion you might need to drill some holes in the metal. Mine is aluminum so drilling was pretty easy.

Overall install took about 30 minutes and that was with a friend. We just had to decide where to mount the antenna and re-seat the camera, otherwise it can be done in probably 15 minutes. The wire clamps that came with the kit worked perfectly and we ended up using about 3 or 4 more extra zip ties along with electrical tape to make the install look tidy and protect exposed connectors.

The quality of the camera and 4" screen is amazing and the fish eye lens gives a large field of view. Much larger than I expected. The internal suction cup mount for the screen is generic but works well. I highly suggest this product and glad I spent the extra money on this.

Ok, my first review gave it one star but that was on me. You really have to make sure the transmitter is getting 12V. This is indicated by a red led on the transmitter and, if the camera is in the dark, the led's on it will light up. If the camera/trans doesn't get 12V the monitor will just flash once, quick, and shut off. The website found on their manual is DEAD and another link I found doesn't connect to a working website either, just something about their being at a show. It does work once everything is powered properly.

The camera is excellent quality and has a durable hinge from which it is attached to the mount in order to adjust the height. The instructions are well written in English. The most difficult part of installation will be identifying the reverse light wire, which isn’t too hard using the internet. There is a several second delay for receiving the transmission from when putting the car into reverse. This could be due to the way I wired it and might vary from car to car. There was also a slight difference in the location of the guide lines to corners of the rear bumper on my 2015 Jetta. Again, this will probably vary. This product was worth the increased cost based on the quality of the components and sensitivity of the camera.

I installed this on my 2015 RAM 1500 Crew Cab which did not have a factory backup camera. I am so happy to be able to see clearly behind me! I’m very pleased with the quality of the wide angle view behind my truck. It works very well at night, the view is clear and bright. Our other vehicle has “active” guidelines when backing up which I like. However, the non-active lines don’t bother me at all. I mounted the transmitter under the drivers side bed rail of the truck bed and it works well from there.
Minir issue: on one occasion, using my windshield washer/wipers caused interference on my monitor, with images flashing off and on for a few seconds. I have also experienced interference that displayed an image of vehicle behind me that was not there! Very strange. Could this be picked up from another vehicle with the same setup? Hard to say. Either way, I’m happy with the product and I’d purchase it again.
Helpful hints: If you have no signal after installing, make sure the wire connectors to your backup lights are tight. I thought mine were but I clamped them down hard with a plier which solved the problem. Also, I’ve read other reviews where people stated the suction cup wouldn’t stick to their dash. You have to moisten the suction cup before placing it. Mine has not come lose.

Finally decided to add a backup camera to my 2010 Ford Escape, and managed to scoop up this one on special. Overall, very pleased, but the whole thing was not without its hiccups.

Installation:
The wireless features of this model take a lot of the hassle off installing--really the whole trick comes down to threading the camera light through to the interior of your car, then locating and clamping on to the reverse light in order to power the transmitter. As soon as you put your car into reverse, it powers up the transmitter, the camera comes on, and all is well. Admittedly, as someone who's never played around with my car wiring before, I had a bit of a time locating the proper wire (a $6 voltage tester from your local hardware store in invaluable here), but in the end, everything worked well.

Use:
The camera works well day or night, and the TV display mounts easily and looks fine. The only minor quibble in usage is that there seems to be a fixed flashing "STOP" at the red line of the grid display which can't be turned off, and is not triggered by anything in particular--it's just a distracting way of indicating that the red grid line means, well, that you shouldn't back up any more.

Another interesting issue while driving on a long car trip was that I suddenly saw the camera flash on, displaying the rear of someone else's bumper (!). After some bafflement, I figured out that I was passing a camper hauling their car behind it, and the owner of the camper must have a similar model who'd wired his to always be on. Since I got within range of his transmitter, my display kicked on with a view of the car he was hauling. It was a weird moment, but harmless.

Breakdown and Service
After six weeks, my unit suddenly didn't kick on when I put my car into reverse. I checked, and the transmitter was indeed showing that its power LED was on, so I deduced that the problem had to be either with the camera, or the special adapter that powers it. I thought the latter was more likely, so I contacted Auto-Vox for a replacement adapter, which had to be shipped from China. Sadly, I had guessed wrong, and the new adapter failed to solve the problem. Since I figured the company had already gone above and beyond to make things right--and since I'd gotten used to having the benefit of the camera--I decided to bite the bullet and simply buy the same unit again and swap parts until it worked. As it turns out, something had gone wrong on the camera side--as soon as I swapped in the new camera, all was well again.

I can finally see behind my truck when I back up!
Installation is not hard, if you have ever stripped and spliced a wire before, you will be fine. Tied into my reverse light on my RAM 2500 (there are 2 wires going into the reverse bulb, so its not the black one). Grounded the ground wire on an exposed bolt in the taillight opening and mounted the camera on the license plate as instructed. I put the box in the cavity where the taillight goes, and in retrospect, I should have mounted the receiver box closer the the truck cab (there was plenty of slack in the wire to do it). In inclement weather (like snow), sometimes the picture is a little fuzzy, but that is my fault for not using the full length of wire and mounting the receiver box in the fender well. No issue though, I will relocate it in the spring.
the monitor is the perfect size in my opinion, large enough to see clearly, but not so big that it is distracting while driving. I mounted it on the windshield just above the dashboard so it is out of the way. I power it from the 12v outlet in my center console, and ran the wires around the dash and down past the ignition, so you can barely even see it.
Operation is so easy, the screen is off all the time, except when I shift into reverse, which sends power to the reverse lights (and thus the camera) which automatically turns on the monitor in about a second or two. When I shift out of reverse, the monitor turns off.
I didnt want to spend another $5k for an SLT just to get a factory backup camera, so I saved quite a bit of money putting this on my Tradesman.
If you dont have a backup camera on your rig, GET ONE! It is amazing the difference it can make, especially when towing.

So its good. Itll work to help me hook up trailers. Only problem i have is i did NOT want the wireless. I wanted the wired version but i couldnt get it shipped to my house, PO Box, or my business yet i could get the wireless version 2x the cost shipped no problem... seems strange to me honeslty... anyways. It was easy to set up like real easy but if my head gets in between the router and the moniter i loose signal.... exact reason i didnt want this version! And you dont have much wire to play with and locate it in a good spot either. I will find a way to fix that by adding my own wire cause this company doesnt sell a "wire extension" kit. My photos you can see when your head gets in the way what will happen. Also camera sticks out very far from the licence plate so hopefully i dont step on it trying to get in the bed...

It was pretty easy to install even though I had one of the most difficult circumstances. My license plate is on my bumper and my back-up lights are on my trunk. That requires running the wire across the back of the car, along the side of the car, up the trunk arm, across the trunk to the lights.
My wire is pretty tight (it is 3-meters/8feet) and the plug sometimes comes separated when I open & close the trunk. The manufacturer has offered to send me and extension wire (1 meter). After that I can properly hide the wires that are currently exposed in my trunk.
I'll update to advise if I receive it.
Otherwise it is easy. There are only two wires to connect to your back-up lights. Just connect the others (plug type) into one another and you are finished.

I plan to buy another system for my wife's car. Hers should be easier to install as her back-up lights and just inches from her license plate.
