I bought this for my 12 yr old daughter for Christmas and shes absolutely in love with it. Shes taken some absolutely gorgeous video of the fish in our pond with it. I think shes dunked it into every body of water she can get to so she can video tape those "hidden worlds". It really does let you see whats down there in a way you just can't experience other wise. The fish don't panic from it and the images are clean and clear.
Her second favorite thing to do with it is to attach it to her head while she zooms around. Skates, bikes, rock climbing...anything and everything where shes in motion. The rock climbing videos are fun because she can look out away from the wall and get some great views.
Its holding up well and theres been no problems even though it gets used hard. The clarity and detail it takes is great. Far better then my more expensive but older camera. This camera is completely worth the price.
Fist of all, a disclaimer I have never used any action cameras before, this is my first one.
The pros:
1. Water proof case is really water proof, passed a standard test of paper towel in the enclosure submerged under water for 30+ min. The interior came completely dry.
2. The slew of mounting adapters! Upon opening the package, I was blown away! More like intimidated, actually. However it's very easy to figure out how to connect one piece to another and various mounting adapters would allow this to go over Bike handles, car dashes, helmets, or simple tripods (there is a mini tripod included, which is a definite bonus). If you can figure out a Lego set, you can put these together.
3. I took some sample pics and videos of the interior of my house (hence no sharing :), the color reproduction seems nice.
4. It comes with an Android/iOS app, which you can get it by scanning a single QR code on the manual. The connection is done via Wi-Fi, which allows me to remotely control the camera for record/stop and preview images and videos (more on video preview later).
5. The package comes with an extra battery and separate charger, very convenient since you can't charge the camera while it's in the waterproof case.
The neutral:
I don't consider these as cons, just my observations.
1. Because of the wide angle lens, object towards the edge of the picture seems to be curved. This may be true with other action cams but I wouldn't know because I've never owned action cams before.
2. Image stabilization is good when I walk around the house and hold my hand steady. My hand is not very steady as my old camcorder can tell, but this camera seems to be doing fine with some small vibrations. Towards the end of the recording I moved my hand up and down on purpose and image stayed relatively clear.
3. 4K video only comes at 10fps. Not sure if this is the limitation of the camera or the old MicroSD card.
The con:
1. I used the iPhone app, and every aspect of the app performed as expected, except the video preview. The image preview is instant, but the video preview seems to have to wait for downloading the entire video to the phone before playback started. I was hoping some kind of streaming capability that would allow the playback to start while the file was transferred. Eventually I gave up waiting and took the MicroSD card out and watched the video on my PC. It's also possible to review the video directly on the camera with its tiny screen.
I would definitely recommend using it in the waterproof case because the camera itself is just a block, it needs some mounting enclosure to be connected to any anchor location. Of course you can use it as a normal camera/video camera, but iPhone does a better job on that and frankly, that is not the intended purpose of this camera anyways.
Great camera for the low price! I bought this camera because I was going on a cruise to the Bahamas with some friends and I wanted to be able to take some pictures and videos while we were in the water and also while snorkeling. I did not want to spend the money on a GoPro because I knew I would not be using the camera often and I did not need all the bells and whistles that the GoPro offers. Just give me something I can take in the water and make cool videos with lol. The camera also takes good pictures outside of the water as well and I got many good shots. Since you are only paying $70, I would not expect the same quality as a GoPro or other high end camera (let's be realistic) but it gets the job done! The camera came with many different attachments, but I mostly used the "selfie stick" (although I wish there was a button on it that would take the pictures instead of me having to use the burst mode, but no big deal!). Make sure you buy a memory card because the camera does not come with one, I bought a 32gb for only $18 and it has plenty of space for videos and pictures. All in all I would recommend this camera for anyone who wants to take some good pictures and videos without having expertise in photography and does not want to pay the high price for a GoPro.
This camara has been beyond my expectations!!! really love the quality of the videos and perfect for my purpose which is skateboarding footage. Battery lasts decent, great amount of accessories, very ease to navigate in and overall great. Have tested it underwater as well and also amazing!. the only con would be the clip to open the battery comparment, it's kind of fragile and tricky in the begiinning.

I love the app that you download, where you can control the entire recording process. I can mount this outside the car and control it with my phone.
The video quality is very nice. It comes with tons of accessories, like waterproof case, and a tripod. The remote is sort of hit or miss, but you have your phone app control. I don't even know why you would use the remote.
Buy the SD card with it when you buy it. It has no internal memory.

Much easier to understnad than my GoPro 3 although it is more simplistic. Amazing value for the money. I highly recommend one of these as you get quite a few accessories on included with the big boys; i.e. back pak, handle, cases, etc. Go ahead make the plunge and grab one of these for under $75 I was easily able to get the Bluetooth connection established.
Rec'd camera on July 27, so my experience with it is still limited. Ordered spur of the moment. I needed a small video camera quickly and the H9R was on a Lightning Deal with only 3 minutes left to go. So this was a "whim purchase". But I'm pretty satisfied with the camera. I have no previous experience with any similar action camera.
Recorded video results in 10 minute video files (MOV format) on the SD card. There is very little time gap between the successive files. With a 128 GB card installed the camera told me I had over 5 hours of recording time. Just over 3 hours with the 32 GB card.
Both video and still photos are great, and the camera does a good job of picking up audio. Haven't tried the effect of the underwater housing on audio yet.
Overall, nice, small, lightweight, and very adaptable with all the included mounting hardware. Good quality audio and video.
Fantastic price compared to Go Pro cameras, but again, I have no experience with other brands. The quick comparison I did in my 3 minutes of online spec comparison with comparably priced cameras didn't show any significant differences.
Con:
The 170 degree viewing angle is a gross exaggeration. My rough measurements are showing something just under 100 deg in horizontal and 50-55 deg vertical.
The box it came in is worthless for storage, so I'm ordering a separate carrying case.
Not tried it yet, but it is supposed to live stream video, but only with iOS equipment, not Android. Too bad.
The Android app for this camera (Ez-iCam) installed w/o a hitch on my Samsung Wi-Fi tablet. But it was a real nightmare to get working on my Nexus 6p smartphone. Long story short: Before installing the app, turn off 'mobile data' and 'roaming' under 'Settings/mobile network'. A simple statement to that effect in the instructions would have saved me hours of frustration. Had I not first seen that it worked on the tablet I would have returned the camera.
Would be nice to have all the buttons on the back of the camera. I find it a bit frustrating trying manuver my big fingers around 3 sides of the camera to get the right setings.
After using my buddies go pro a few times I decided to make a switch to getting an action camera for myself. Unfortunately when I looked up the Go Pro it was way out of my price range. Disappointed, I looked at comparable models and found this little gem on a flash dealbfor half the price of a go pro.
To compare and contrast I would say the biggest difference is how you obtain video footage off the camera. You have to use a third party, Chinese developed app which is in English but just very hard to use. I figured out how to pull videos off but to my surprise I can't directly just upload to facebook or YouTube. They are .mov format and didn't include the audio codec when saved to my Samsung s8. You'll have to download a third party app to convert to mp4, which wasn't an issue at all.
The quality of the videos is comparable to go the Go Pro. You also get a variety or accessories which comes in handy. Also a remote to capture pictures and video if your camera is mounted somewhere you can't access it (extremely handy in my car for use or a dash cam).
Overall I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend to others.
I couldn’t use it immediately upon receipt because I mistakenly thought I had a spare microSD card at home. LOLPLOTTWISTIDIDNT.
I haven’t tested the waterproof case it comes in, but based on what I’ve read and seen from other products, I have high hopes. I will definitely report back on that.
The specs aren’t as great as the other offbrand cameras that litter amazon, but they tick off my checklist, and the price couldn’t be beat.
I may need a drone now...

I purchased this Eken H9R because I had such good luck with my Eken H9Rse that I purchased nearly two years ago. This is a upgrade from the se model having a better sensor in it. I also, am a believer of the quality Eken puts into their products. My Eken H9Rse fell into a river while doing some filming. Took me a few minutes to realize it had fallen into the river. When I fished it out it was still running! Shortly after though it went dead. Thinking that it was finished my daughter took it apart and dried it out. A few hours later she brought it to me and told me it was working again. I was amazed! It fired right up. I figured it would not work for much longer though. That was nearly a year ago and it still is used regularly with no issues at all. Looking forward to using this upgraded unit for more filming fun. Thanks Eken! George.
