I've bought multiple Fox 40 whistles, emergency boating whistles and aluminum British police style whistles. This whistle is by far the loudest whistle I have ever heard. I do a lot of mountain biking on trails alone, so I like the safety factor of having a really loud whistle and a really bright LED flashlight with strobe and SOS modes in case I get injured biking and am too hurt to hike out of the woods. I also bike on multi-use trails, with joggers, walkers, dog-walkers and even horses sometimes. I don't try to spook horses, but many joggers and walkers wear stereo in-ear earbuds (I never bike with earbuds in, because it's way too dangerous), so if I'm coming up behind someone, especially with a dog, I try to give them a heads up as far away as possible with a quick whistle toot, because it's too easy to startle a human or a dog that is not realize you are rapidly approaching from behind, and if you are riding at 20-25 mph, it's not very hard to stop if they jump in your intended path at the last moment.
Each of the two whistles I got seem to to have slightly different pitch. One seems like both chambers are perfectly matched in pitch, and one seems like the two chambers have a slightly different pitch. But they are both REALLY loud.
My 2 whistles came with a bonus 3rd mini aluminum single chamber whistle. Not nearly as loud as the two main whistles, but super small and light, so I keep it attached to my car keys. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.
I bought these whistles based on the good reviews. I did receive them on time and was pleased with the extra lanyard that came with it. I am disappointed that only one of them works. Paid for a pair and one is useless. UPDATE! I have changed my rating to 5 stars. Unexpectedly today I received two more whistles in the mail. Both work beautifully and super loud. I can only assume the seller read my review and took it upon themselves to make my order right. Excellent product and customer service. Thank you.

I am using this as a recall tool to train my puppy. I don't even try to blow very hard purposely and it is still loud, but not deafening.
However if you want to use it to its full potential it is definitely LOUD.
Works great with the pup, he comes running every time. Again I use it softly for the sake of my pup's ears and so my neighbors don't go crazy.
Will be using the second one for emergencies, so turned out great to have 2. Highly recommended for both training and emergencies.
I have always been a fan of Fox40 whistles. Problem with them is they get dirty after some time. Not easy to clean especially when the plastic is badly scuffed up. A friend recommended Michael Josh whistle so I give it a try and I am not disappointed. This whistle is loud, although not as loud as Fox40. However, I find Michael Josh whistle is easier to blow. A small puff of air is enough to produce very loud sound. Fox40 sounds sharp (higher pitch) and piercing. Michael Josh sounds rounded, which reminds me British police whistle. It is as lightweight as Fox40 when attach to my keychain. Oh, they are so much easier to clean. Just wash under running tap will do. Good as new! Overall, a very satisfing whistle to add to my collection.
Excellent quality, EXTREMELY lightweight and compact. Do not have to worry about getting damaged, very sturdy. Piercingly loud. I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the extras (carabiners and lanyards). The lanyards were better quality that much of what you find in stores.

The whistle is loud as advertised and the lanyard and carabiner make it complete. I highly recommend to dog owners or for emergencies. Since it doesn't have an internal ball like traditional one it's good come rain or shine.
Everybody should have it available - wearing around the neck under the T-Shirt during jogging alone in the forest or other lonely area
Received at the office, and decided to try one out. Maybe not a great idea, as a colleague thought the fire alarm was being tested. It's that loud, and a similar tone.

I wanted a whistle to take with me when I go hiking, but there are so many whistles sold on Amazon that I wasn't sure which one to choose. I finally opted to purchase these Michael Josh whistles and am very happy with that decision. The whistles appear to be high quality, and I like the fact that they come with both a lanyard and a carabiner. When they arrived, I tried both of them while inside my home and I can attest to the fact that they are definitely LOUD! Hope I never have to use them, but I have packed them in my backpack for my next hiking trip just in case.
Noise level is highist I've ever heard. VERY loud. I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend them.
