When you think of hole saws, you typically think they have a pilot bit. Not so on these, so in order to use them you'll need either a drill press or a template. I needed to drill a 1" hole in a slate floor. Slate is an easy material to cut, and the diamond bit went right through it. What I did first was take a piece of scrap plywood, drill a 1" hole in that, and then use that as a template to center the diamond bit. Voila--no pilot hole or bit needed.
Years ago we had to drill a hole on melt-texture ceramic samples in our lab and it was done with a wood stick as a drill bit on a drill press with hours of work. With this tile hole saw I made a hole on my flower pot with a cheap handheld drill in minutes. I had to spray with water to cool the bit in the process but the result was perfect. I avoided the center thicker part but after the work was done I knew I over worried.
These work as expected, drill as they say starting at a 45*angle then slowly moving to straight on. I thought they would be hard to use but surprisingly not bad at all... I drilled delicate porcelain tiles after they were installed for a shower unit and it worked great... one hole the bit grabbed because I was drilling through the tile, motor and cement board and the shaft bent , but it was because I got lazy and wasn’t holding the drill as steady as I should have been.... all in all I would buy the again... Note: the largest hole was not big enough to go around the mixer valve... I have to cut a square with a diamond blade on an angle grinder...
Others have noted that they are cheaply made but a good bargain for the price, and I feel the same way. I used one to make a 1/2 inch diameter drainage hole in the bottom of a 10 inch ceramic flower pot. The pot was white glazed porcelain and not very thick. I don't have a drill press so I used my cordless drill and started the hole at a slight angle. The bit wobbled until it got through the glaze and then I was able to straighten it out and cut a clean hole with water lubrication and a slow drill speed. I used only a slight pressure to avoid cracking the pot, and I was pleased with the result. FYI the shaft diameters of the hole saws vary from about .2 to .33 inches and don't seem to be in any particular order; sometimes a hole saw has a smaller shaft size than the a hole saw that is smaller.
Item is for extremely light use. Not intended for heavy or medium use. Something small and quick, this will get the job done. Otherwise look somewhere else. The metal on the bits is extremely light.

Note:
If you smell burning, back off! Either your speed is too high or the pressure you're applying is too much.
You're drill bit should never be hot to the touch, not even warm.
●Slowest speed

These Granite Stone Drill Bits has 15 different sizes that can satisfy many work situations. The size prints on the body of each drill bit which let you tell them very quickly. When I test it on a tail, the drill bit works very well. It just drills through the tail without any feeling. One thing I should mention is that these drill bits do not have a central bit to fix position. So, make sure follow the instruction and it still an easy job. The price is reasonable and does not miss it.
These are cheap tools, don't expect something that will last a lifetime but they are good and do do the job. Obviously anyone experienced in tile cutting knows to keep it very wet. It will only make one cut if not kept wet.
However after using the same bit for more than half a dozen tiles they are getting worn out. But be realistic. Unless you are a pro a single bathroom needs a few holes for shower heads etc so this set cost less than a couple of tiles. So it isn't your lifetime set but it worked exceptionally well just starts losing the coating after half a dozen cuts. Consider it a consumable not a lifetime tool. It's cheap and as a part of a project cost it is perfect. Plus the sizes you didn't use are there for next time.
Great item for the price. It will only cut one or two holes before it wears out but for the price you can not beat it. Not an item for someone who is a contractor or is going to cut multiple holes using the same bit but if you need a couple of holes cut out per size, it does the job well. I cut a hole through a regular thickness porcelain tile and it worked great. Unfortunately due to lake of a center bit that would create a pilot hole, the initial start up is a bit rough as the bit goes allover the place. I surrounded the saw bit with heavy pavers on three sides which stopped it from moving in all directions and with that I was able to easily start a scored position to finish the cut with.
Definitely not for contractors since these bits are for only several cuts, then the diamond dust is spent. That is exactly what I expected and that is what we get. The price is right!! I surely recommend to other DIYs who only have one or two projects for these bits. Make sure you keep the bit wet and cool during use, and do NOT press down on the drill. Use discretionary patience, and you will reward yourself with a most excellent tile cutting. I am using on porcelain tiles and having no problems. Thumbs up
Used mine on ceramic tile with great results. Because there's no center bit to stabilize the hole saw, you need to be careful when starting the hole. Once you get some bite in the correct location then you can apply pressure to finish the cut. These are well-made hole saws that maintain cutting effectiveness after multiple uses. Also, a wide range of hole sizes are included. Good purchase.
