I've had this installed for a couple months now and I felt like it was time to leave a review. So far hands down you should buy this system! So far the only trouble I have ran into is it shut down on me once and I had to push the reset button with a paper clip to get it to turn on again. This has only happened once and unable to repeat the issue. I have had the phone call fail a couple times due to the person not being able to hear me. They call back and say all they heard was static. There also seems to be a delay in the amount of time it takes for the answered call to hear me. Now I just wait a few seconds before I start talking. This is either an apple problem or the unit.
I must say I only use it plugged into my iPhone 8 for the use of Car Play. APPLE CAR PLAY IS AMAZING! It's very easy to use while driving whether you are switching between podcasts, amazon music, traffic, or texts. The voice to text while driving is very good! The biggest problem with head units is the proprietary operating system they use. Usually I find all systems to be very sub par. With Apple Car Play it acts just like your phone and works flawlessly. Worth every penny in my book!
I also have the back-up camera installed:
ATOTO AC-4486 Waterproof High Definition Hidden/Concealed License Plate Car Rear View Camera
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XX5WVWD/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I would highly suggest installing this camera with this head unit. It works flawlessly and the image is very clear. The FOV is not as wide as some cameras I've had on vehicles. I have only noticed this when parked in a lot and not having the ability to see the cars coming from the sides as well. As long as you have sufficient back up lighting the image is fairly good at night. Day time images are very clear!
Another design shortcoming are the volume buttons at the bottom. You literally have to take your eyes off the road for a couple seconds to locate and push the volume. There are no tactile indicators to let you know you are pushing in the right spot. I wish all head units would use a small knob that was easy to locate and keep your fingers on until you get the right volume level.
Overall I'm still giving this unit five stars because I think this is the best value to get all the benefits of Apple Car Play. I have not used Android Auto yet as they require you to hook up the parking break wire to enable Android Auto before it will work.
Update: A couple issues I've encountered so far; bluetooth audio calls sometimes take a few seconds for the caller to hear you. I've had the unit go blank a few times as well. A push of the reset button with a paperclip next to the volume seems to fix it. I've had the CarPlay lock up on aps like Audible where you can't see the time progressing or press any on screen buttons. I usually use my phone to pause at that point and sometime later is corrects itself.
In all honesty, I was fully expecting to be let down by this purchase. A sub $200 headunit with CarPlay? No chance it’s good. Well I’m gladly eating my slice of humble pie because this thing is amazing. Installed it myself and it works flawlessly. CarPlay is the selling point here - no CD player on board, but who needs it? The touchscreen is responsive, the UI is snappy and well laid out and the sound quality is fantastic. Zero complaints. Over the moon with it.
This stereo is absolutely fantastic! Had it installed on my Porsche 911 and it works flawlessly. Easy install, nice pre-outs voltage, and bright screen (brighter than my much more expensive Kenwood). Operation is simple as there aren’t too many options to go through and the radio is easy to operate. Bluetooth doesnt reconnect automatically at least for me. Otherwise this would have been the buy of the year for me. Highly recommend it.
I installed the SA102 in a 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium along with an ASWC-1 to retain steering wheel controls. Overall I am happy with this headunit and would recommend to someone wanting CarPlay on a budget. The SA102 is not without its flaws but so far, two weeks in, their support has quite responsive and helpful. Originally I was leaning toward a Sony XAV-AX5000 as I like its clean, polished interface but couldn't afford it.
Tip:
You will want to manually program your ASWC-1 to Pioneer, this will allow you to remap buttons through the ASWC-1. The ASWC-1 defaults to Sony, which for me worked as long as I wanted to use the steering wheel default options. I was not able to remap through the SA102's custom settings, failed every time.
Pros:
-Price
-6.75 inch crisp capacitive touch screen
-Easy to install
-Apple CarPlay
-Quality, dedicated support
Cons:
-The interface (radio, phone, bluetooth) is cheap looking
-Occasional glitches. Some settings don’t always load correctly requiring a reboot of the unit
-Radio stations are difficult to seek & scan, especially while driving
-WAY too easy to erase all saved radio stations. Avoid the magnifying glass icon!
-Updating requires factory reset of headunit
-Boots slow, about 15 seconds
-Reboots when you go from ACC to On (probably my car)
-Support area of website does not currently have any info on the SA102
This is a great head unit! Hands down best bang for the buck or there! I have it hooked up in my 2005 Scion XB and like Ace venture it fits "like a glove!" I have it pushing 4 pioneer speakers and an 8 inch blaupunk "spelling" sub and all off it works and sounds great. The only issues I really have is that every once in awhile I'll have to disconnect and reconnect my iPhone because Pandora is glitching and it works after that. And as for Android the jury is still out on that I'm getting some new USB-C cables and I'm going to test with that and we will see. As of right now it connects plays fine and after about 1 min it freezes "the interface not the radio" and I have to disconnect and reconnect. But we will see what happens with higher quality cables. I also have the atoto back up camera and it pairs smashingly with this unit zero problem, no the feels of Vue is a bit limited but it is Crystal clear! I would but this unit again with zero hesitation! Oh and just in case I'm using the as102 unit. Oh side note I put 5 starts for ease of install but technically I had my buddy who has then 20+ yesterday install it.... But he said it was cake for what it's worth.

Description
ATOTO Year Series in-Dash Digital Media Car Stereo - SA102 CarPlay & Android Auto Receiver w/ Bluetooth, AM/FM Radio Tuner,USB video & audio, and more
Like many of the reviewers here, I wasn’t expecting much from a no-brand name head unit. I couldn’t decide at first if I should get this one or other major brands’ like Pioneer or JVC that I was initially considering. But I’m glad I chose this because everything works well as it should—to my surprise!
I’m going to address some of the issues here that other reviewers have brought up and compare them to my experience:
- Microphone not working properly: I was worried about this one since two(?) people have complained about their microphone. Mine works great, people including Siri are able to hear me clearly!
- Bluetooth not automatically reconnecting: my phone’s Bluetooth automatically reconnects to the unit. What I love about the Bluetooth is that I can have my phone connected to Apple CarPlay while the passenger’s connected to Bluetooth, so the passenger can still play their music while I have my Google Maps running.
I also had a Natika backup camera installed that works amazingly well with this unit. I purchased it from Amazon as well and I would recommend that one to pair it with this. The quality is good and has a great night vision. I don’t like how the music stops though every time I put my car in reverse, it’d be better if it just lowers the volume down.
One more thing, the lighting doesn’t adjust automatically. It does have that lighting detection option in the settings, I have it turned on but it does not seem to be working, so I always have to adjust the brightness level manually. Not sure if I am doing something wrong. It also takes awhile to boot, around 15 seconds long. I don’t mind it too much though.
Overall, for the price, I’d definitely get this one if you’re looking to add Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to your car without breaking the bank. Absolutely glad that I purchased this instead of spending my money on a $300+ head unit.
I will make sure to update my review if I experience any other issues.
I pulled the trigger on this deck 2 weeks ago, and I'm glad I did! I was looking at name brand decks that cost twice as much, to get Android Auto and Sirius XM capability.
I was hesitant to order the SA 102 because it says right in the listing that you have to do some updating to get the Sirius XM to work,(and I couldn't find any reviews anywhere of someone who had done the update) but the updates were a snap. The only issue I had was the head unit wouldn't recognize the first USB stick I tried to use to transfer the downloaded firmware files. I tried a different USB drive and the new firmware install was a snap! Amazon had the Sirius XM tuner on sale for $35, so for less than $250 I had a touch screen head unit with satellite radio and Android Auto. The SA 102 handles Sirius XM very well.
The other thing I love about this unit is Android Auto. My Galaxy S9+ connects easily. Google assistant works great via voice commands through the included microphone. Spotify and Google Maps are the apps I've used the most so far. The only thing that bugs me is that Spotify seems to take a long time to start up, but once the app is running it works as seamlessly as it does on my phone.
Install was a snap. If you have ever done any car audio work before, this will be straight forward. I installed this unit in an '04 Honda Odyssey. I bought the appropriate wire harness for my vehicle, matched up the colored wires and plugged it in. I also added a USB port to my dash rather than having the cord from the radio just laying around all the time.
The SA 102 sounds way better than my stock radio did! This is a very nice upgrade at a great price.
Wasnt sure if it will be what I'm looking for but after reading some review decided to give it a try and installed it. I also paired it with new Kenwood speakers. Works very nice and touch screen is sensitive to the touch which is very convenient. Screen resolution is fairly good and definitely enough for a car display. Rear view camera option works really good and microphone seems to be working as expected during calls. Has subwoofer connector in the back which made my subwoofer sound nice and strong. Overall I would recommend it. If anything changes I will update this review.
This is a nice head unit. I like the clean look with the controls on the bottom of the unit. The touch screen is very responsive. They say this unit will have an upgrade for wireless CarPlay in the future and that makes this a steal.
