Pros -
I was not sure what to think as it was a brand I did not know well. However, the media quality is absolutely stunning and beautiful. Everything looks majestic on the computer. At a lower price, you definitely get what you pay for - and then some. The backlit keyboard is also very nice for the overall price of the laptop. The laptop is also very slim and lightweight.

Cons -
The computer does seem a bit slow at times, namely multiple tabs in a web browser, but it is nothing to be concerned about.

Overall -
For being a less-known brand of computer, the Xidu 12.5" laptop definitely is up there enough to compete with top name brands .

I'm a writer who needed a reliable, small notebook for writing/research/learning on the go. This little laptop is perfect for that. Wish it had a larger drive, as I don't always have access to cloud storage and want local access to large PDFs and other documents offline, but an SD card and external hard drive help. 64G is standard for a solid state hard drive, so it's the market standard, not the manufacturer's. Has enough room for Office 365, Scrivener, Aeon Timeline, and Dragon Naturally Speaking with about 25G to spare. Note that Dropbox won't sync with removable media (i.e., an SD card) so I ended up using the Multcloud online service to sync my 72G of Dropbox files to OneDrive, then installed OneDrive on the SD card to download/sync them back thru Multcloud. (Multiple backups are good in my world of not entrusting documents to only one cloud service) The backlit keyboard was a deal breaker for me, and it's beautiful. I'm also a fast typist, and the keyboard is designed to actually accommodate heavy input. This notebook weighs about as much as a thick paper notebook; it slips easily into a small backpack. Note that the on/off button is right above the backspace, so accidentally putting the notebook to sleep is a frequent, somewhat annoying thing. But you can wake it up again by long-pressing the same button again. It's not as if the notebook shuts off. Note also that the top feels fragile; be gentle with it. Battery life is 4-5 hours with heavy internet use. I've gotten as much as 7 hours offline reading / writing time. I'm glad to have this little workhorse.

Use Case
Though I have several good workstations, I really only have a Surface Pro and a Surface Book for mobile computing. What about when you want or need a more expendable machine? Is this XIDU a useful machine, or is it a modern-day netbook?

Build Quality/Appearance
Despite an appearance that looks like aluminum, the laptop is made of silver plastic. Although the laptop only weighs about 2 pounds, the unit feels pretty solid. The centerpiece of this item is definitely the screen; it's a little smaller than the average ultrabook screen, but it's a really nice 1440p IPS panel. The port compliment consists of a mini HDMI, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, a microSD slot, a headphone jack, and a power jack. The touchpad is large and the keyboard has average travel (for chiclet-style). The keyboard has backlighting that can be toggled on or off. The power adapter is a little disappointing. It's UL Listed, and the number is correct on UL's site, but the problem is the form factor... the adapter is L-shaped. It can potentially block an outlet. Fortunately, the plug is not polarized, so at least you have options on how you orient the plug.

Performance
A device like this is going to be the culmination of a ton of compromises. The Celeron N3450 isn't fast, but it's not awful, either. Web browsing, LibreOffice, and Remote Desktop all run fine. The bigger problem is the eMMC... it's slooooow. Fortunately, Windows 10 1803 is installed, so only minor patches need to be loaded. Even still, the process is I/O intensive, and takes a REALLY long time. It's definitely best to turn off the real-time AV scanning when loading updates. The WiFi (802.11ac) functions well, with an above-average internal antenna.

Conclusion
This laptop is excellent for light-duty work, especially when discounted. The screen is excellent (though the backlighting isn't completely even). Overall, the laptop is durable enough that I'm not worried about breaking it. Though I wouldn't recommend this be your ONLY computer, I definitely think this is a good secondary machine. Conditionally recommended.

I was looking for a smaller laptop for travel and came upon this. No regrets. Great screen and portable. No brainer at under $300.

I haven't had a chance to test the battery life, but everything else seems to be as described. Very lightweight - the only surprise (which I probably could have seen if I'd looked harder) was that there's only 1 USB port for the "old" type and 1 for the "new" type. I have to use a mouse, so that uses one of the ports - but nothing I can't work around.

Sleek, little, light weight, yet powerful. Small enough to throw in the tote bag. Screen is vibrant. Received very quickly after sale. Battery lift is good, not great.

I'm a professional writer and editor, and when I saw a review that said this was a great machine for Microsoft Office, Scrivener, Aeon Timeline, and Dragon Dictation I was thrilled, for those are the software programs I use for my work. The keyboard feels good to my fingers. The backlit screen is also a blessing, since it allows me to quietly work in a hotel room while my spouse is sleeping. I was thrilled to get this on a lightning deal. I looked at it carefully and saw no marks or scratches that suggested it had been used and returned (as some buyers stated). Very happy with my purchase!

Bought this for my niece in the Philippines for her Graduation from high school - she wanted something small, and light. Do minor PhotoShop and word document editing. This thing fit the bill, and with 6GB of ram and some good spec. Its a nice little machine. I would highly suggest it for portability. I love the features it has, but i would have liked to see a usb-C port with charging. for the price i can't complain.

UPDATE: So there was an issue with the power , the machine would power off it jogged around. XIDU was Very communicative and worked with us, even dealing with our special circumstances ( the laptop is in the Philippines) I have update my rating to 5 stars because of this. we should be getting the new laptop soon, will update if there is any issues with the new one. Very happy with the support!

It was just like how they describe in the description: slim, light weight, lit keyboard and everything. Also has really good customer service too!

This is a great computer for taking notes in class and the display is gorgeous for the price, I just wish that both speakers worked in the laptop as the left side didn't work upon arrival making it hard to use for videos.

Edit: excellent customer service. I'm very happy with the seller and I would recommend this product and even consider buying again if needed.
