Venture Pal Lightweight Packable Durable Travel Hiking Backpack Daypack (Purple) …

This backpack got me through a fairly intense hiking around Phoenix, AZ. I carried it on my back for about 12 hours one day, and I have to say it was pretty darn comfortable. Carried like 5 powerade bottles, a spare water bottle, a camera, pants, and a hoodie, with plenty of room to spare. I probably would've been weighed down before it got overburdened. It has a pretty thin profile too, which was helpful when my back was against a steep wall. I liked the mesh pockets on either side; I just kept switching out powerade bottles. The backpack felt really secure with the check strap buckled. It never really got in my way or felt loose other than when I had my body tilted at an angle and it started to slide, but even then it only budged a bit and didn't change my weight too much.

The fact that it easily folds up into its own pocket was very useful, as I only took a "personal item" sized bag with me on this trip and it didn't take up much room within.

There are a few tears that did develop at the bottom due to the real rough ordeal I put it through, so we'll see how that lifetime warranty is. I'll probably update and add or subtract a star based on how that's handled. Overall I'm pretty happy with this thing though!

Update: The company promptly responded to my inquiry about the lifetime warranty and I was able to order a free replacement. It should be here in a couple days and I foresee no issues with it so I'm bumping my rating up to 5 stars for the service. I'll of course update if anything goes amiss.

****I have changed my review from 3 stars to 4 stars after being contacted by the company after my original review. They let me know about the lifetime warranty that comes with the bag and offered to replace it or refund me. I opted for a refund as I still would prefer a higher quality bag rather than get replacements for this one over and over, however if you are looking for a lighter weight light duty bag, this could be a nice mid-range price option.****

I got this backpack for a Mexico trip wanting something that would offer a little rain resistance if we ended up in tropical rain storms... which we did... and it was overall ok, but I probably wouldn't buy it again.

PROS:
- There are lots of pockets which was super useful and helped keep everything organized.
* The front lower zipper pocket has a smaller separator inside and a additional zipper pocket. This was very secure and really handy.
* The upper front zipper pocket was great because we could fit a few snack bars and our sunglasses in it so they wouldn't get scratched.
* The side mesh pockets were a good size and we easily fit extra large Liter water bottles comfortably.
* The main pouch had two additional subdivisions, one against the front and one against the back, which were also really helpful.
- The bag itself was really light weight
- It folds up to a fairly small size and conveniently zips up into itself for easy packing
- The straps were comfortable and solid and the chest strap was nice when the bag was heavy
- The "water resistant" fabric did help keep the contents dry-ish when it rained or on a boat

CONS
- The material was too thin and by the end of the trip, all be it a month long trip but one trip none the less, it was ripped in several places.
- The "water resistance" was really more like a treatment on the inside of the fabric so after lots of wear, rubbing, heat, and, you guessed it, water, the treatment stuff was peeling off all over the bag
- The edges of the fabric where the zipper was sewn on weren't burnt or finished in any way so there were constantly strings pulling off and getting caught in the zipper. I'd yank off big balls of fluffy thread that had frayed off the edges almost daily.
- The zipper cover on the upper outer front pocket would get caught CONSTANTLY. The manufacturer seems to have responded by the overwhelming about of user reviews mentioning this problem, but their solution was to make that zipper cover flat LARGER... That only exacerbates the problem and make it worse. It would have been better honestly with no zipper cover at all and just using a WATER RESISTANT ZIPPER like they do on the lower front pocket.
- Sadly, this backpack really only lasted this one trip, which sucks. I wish I would have spent a little more money on a better backpack.

I got this for our Disney vacation. It was amazing. It was very light weight and had good airflow (so didn't make me sweaty). I never had shoulder pain (like my friend with a much more expensive bag did). We were caught it downpours and while it is not waterproof, the material dried so quickly overnight so that I could use again the next day. The best part, and the reason I ordered it, was because of all the pockets. That allowed me to sort my items and be able to quickly find them without taking everything out. The outside top zipper pocket held 2 cell phones and backup charger. The outside bottom zipper pocket held two autograph books and pens so my kids could easily get them when they needed them. Inside the outside bottom pocket is another zipper pocket which was great for money and ID. The two side water pockets held two large water bottles that didn't fall out no matter how much I took it on and off. Plus I could use a clip to add a third water bottle to the yellow loop on the front. Inside I stored several thick ponchos, three pairs of flip flops, lots of snacks, several medicines/Band-Aids, princess dresses, and the kitchen sink. The pockets were easy to open at the bag checks because of how wide the zipper opening is. The chest clip is adjustable so that added to being able to make it comfortable. The only downside we had was the zippers snagging occasionally on the fabric flap or some loose thread. But if we remembered to flip the fabric over the zipper up when unzipping, it did not catch anymore.

I bought this for a 7-day trip to Iceland. This was my checked bag with a week's worth of clothing and toiletries. I was able to pack more despite this backpack being smaller than my friends' bags. It held up really well for traveling, but I didn't take it on any hikes. Now I use it as my daily commuter bag into the city where it sees minimal use.

Recently the chest strap buckle fell off, and I asked for a replacement part. The company sent me a promo code to re-order the backpack for free because of the lifetime warranty. That is fantastic. Simple and easy, no fuss.

While I don't use the bag heavily, it holds up for my traveling needs and I'm grateful for the lifetime warranty. If you're looking to take this on a flight as checked luggage, it will hold up. So for me, I'd buy this backpack again.

We just got back from a summer vacation that included hikes down into the Grand Canyon. I bought two of these packs for our children to use, while hiking, but I ended up using one or the other more often as they held more gear than my lightweight REI pack does.
Although they won't stand up to very heavy use like a heavy denier nylon pack, they are a great, lightweight daypack that still handled brushes up against rough/sharp rocks without issue.
In addition, they have a good balance of features without being weighed down with useless functions. The main compartment is large and easy to access, just like it should be. The outer bottom compartment has decent space to store small objects you don't want to put in the main compartment, and the little outter compartment fits keys/wallet just fine. The cinch straps work well to minimize jostling, and the water bottle pockets hold a decent size bottle, although they are not tall enough to hold a 1 liter Smartwater bottle securely.

Description

I just got back from a plane trip and this bag was a great personal item. I carried a slew of electronics including a large portable battery pack, several USB cables, an 8in Kindle fire tablet, a Nintendo switch, a Kindle e-reader, and Bose QC 35 headphones. This bag fit all of this perfectly and even had room for a jacket, some snacks and a bottle of water. I also kept my sunglasses, wallet, phone and keys in the small pouch on the front. It fit perfectly in front of my seat with room to spare.

The bag was comfortable to carry on my back with all that stuff in there and didn't seem flimsy or tear at all.

Bought this for a trip to Denali.... wanted something I could pack in my luggage and use as a daypack once I got there... Couldn't have been happier! It packs down into a TINY pouch (built in) and when opened up it is really quite big. Had PLENTY of room for 2 lunches, an extra jacket, some snacks, several digital cameras and travel guides, and 2 water bottles and was comfortable to carry all day whilst traipsing all over Denali and on and off a rickety bus. The pockets were roomy and well placed tho there is a lack of padding for protection of items but that also makes it small, light and packable, which was what I was buying it for, so that isn't a fault of the bag (if you want a bag that will protect a laptop or something this is not the bag for you). The quality I would say it top notch especially for the price, and if anything goes pear shaped you have a lifetime warrantee.... I ended up using this as my extra carry on bag on the trip back which consisted of a train, and 2 flights and an Uber, and this held up spectacularly! It was shoved in and out of overhead bins, under squishy plane seats, through TSA X-rays and Uber trunks... all without a snag, or tear. Looks brand new. The construction is quality, and the zippers had those little cover things that prevent them from sagging on the bag or stuff inside (I cant remember what they are called, but they are great!) the straps had enough padding to be comfortable with the bag full with about 8lbs of stuff (which would be about all them more you would shove in there) and the chest strap came in handy, it even has an emergency whistle built in that I wouldn't depend on for signaling in a SHTF emergency would come in handy if you were separated from a group of people by maybe 100 yards or so and I thought it was a nice touch... This was the first of 3 VenturePal products I have purchased (I have a duffle/gym bag and the smaller backpack) after the good experience with this backpack I bought the other two and have had equally as good experiences with them. I won't hesitate to buy more of their products if needed in the future.

I am so glad I bought this back pack! I went on a month long trip that started with a 3 day stop in Venice after a long transatlantic flight. After seeing my son use only a back-pack for luggage on a 2 week trip to Ireland, I began to think that a back pack would be the perfect hands free solution for me to use as a carry-on bag. I use a cane sometimes and I have had to struggle with 2 bags in the past and it isn't fun, even if they both have wheels, especially in a city like Venice that is not very accessible.
I chose the Venture Pal because it only weighs 0.7 pounds. It turned out to be a great bag at a crazy cheap price! It has several compartments that fit my kindle, an iPad, a raincoat, a sweater, all my chargers and my medications that I didn't want to risk losing in my checked baggage.I was able to use it as a day pack for shore excursions; it is very comfortable and so lightweight, you barely feel it. Then, on our return flight, my partner and I each had overweight luggage and were going to be charged $150 if we didn't lose 15 pounds from our luggage. I still can't believe how much stuff we fit in this versatile little bag! No rips or tears and it held up great.I even carried my cane, which folds up, into one of the side pickets when I didn't need it.

I gave it to my husband for Christmas, we both love it! Lightweight, easy to pack, side pockets perfect for big bottles of water, shoulder straps are comfortable. At first when you open it, it looks small but once you start putting stuff in it you realize how big it really is. I am planning to order one for me too ;)

This is the little backpack that could!

This backpack got me through a very intense 4 day camping trip in the Canadian backcountry. I carried it on my back for around 12-14 hours each day attached to a sleeping bag through mud, tuckamore, trees, and even a small river. This little bag carried 3-4 days of clothing, a hoodie, a compressible jacket, 2 packs of granola bars, a first aid kit, and a bottle of water with room to spare. There is one large compartment, 2 smaller but sizable compartments, and 2 side pockets. When this bag first arrived, it was so compressed that it looked tiny! My boyfriend laughed when I told him I was going to bring this backcountry camping. I did and I don't regret it! It was light-weight, very sturdy and capable of holding way more than it looks!

The straps are very comfortable and the backpack only received minor damage after our long hike - it was a rough hike and I'm surprised it lasted so well.

Regarding water-proofing because it was a big concern for us: while it is water proof enough for light rains, it did NOT survive our river crossing (we didn't expect it to); the backpack kept things dry during a slight rainstorm, but our belongings were thoroughly soaked while crossing a river. Guess this thoroughly tests how waterproof this bag is!

What I appreciate most about this bag is how it can survive long, arduous backcountry hikes and be used for day hikes. It can carry a lot of things and is also light weight enough to carry a hoodie and a water bottle for shorter hikes. I'm so impressed such a lightweight bag can be so durable. Took a risk when purchasing this bag, but trusted the reviews and I'm very happy with my purchase.
