I bought this to be my first ever bullet journal. I really did not want to spend so much $$$ on a notebook since I did not know if bullet journaling will be useful for me. So I search high and low for a notebook on Amazon and settled for the Hustle Co brand and I did not regret it! I’m very pleased with the notebook quality, the paper is in ivory color, thick, smooth, the dotted gride is not distracting to the eyes and are also numbered. It can lay flat when opened. It is not that heavy either. I also like the extra touches such as the book sleeve, “business card” with an inspirational quote and a 6 inches plastic ruler. Great product!
PAPER: I’m using Staedtler triplus fineliners, Pilot G-2, and the occasional calligraphy pen and brush with Noodler’s ink. Holds up excellently with no bleed, spider, smudge, or ghost. Dries a bit quicker than I expect sometimes, especially with the Pilot. Very pleased. The first and last pages don’t exactly lie flat, but this is to be expected - the rest of the notebook is really, really nicely flat.
BUILD: I love the independent spine — perfect for my kind of journaling. I’m the sort who sticks stacks of post-its in the first and last pages, and this notebook adjusts perfectly. I have no concerns about taping things in (like fold-out reference cards, as pictured on the front and back blanks) because the spine adjusts so very well. The pocket is relatively sturdy and spacious too, though I wouldn’t use it for anything more than the included ruler and a couple more stencils as it is made of paper - my only wish is for this to be of a sturdier cloth with card-size (business and/or credit) additional pockets. Pen holder is handy if I use the clips on my pens, but otherwise doesn’t fit my Pilot G-2 -inside- the band (certainly wouldn’t fit one of my Jinhao calligraphy pens). No biggie. I can keep 3 pens there by their clips just fine, and I’m finding I like that better anyway. The fact there’s only one bookmark is actually quite nice - I “label” distinctive sections with washi tape on the edges of the page, so the single bookmark keeps me focused on -today- without any confusion.
STRUCTURE: I love love love the numbered but otherwise un-labeled pages. I don’t index or future log in the typical fashion (as photographed, the future log is in the very back of my notebook and the index is a set of staggered post-its taped down to the inside front blank), which leaves all the pages wide open for their best possible use.
This is my new favorite notebook, next to Code & Quill. Well done!
This journal is very well made. I use this as a planner so I am always going through the pages and they have all stayed intact. The pages are nice and thick so the markers dont bleed through. I will definitely buy another one when I run out of room in this one.
The impressive paper in this journal will blow you away. It's taken all mediums I have thrown at it so far. Watercolor for your monthly header page anyone? I was skeptical but the only flaw I can find is that it only comes in black but a bit of personalizing fixes that.

I use this as a bullet journal.
Very sturdy. Love the numbered pages. The paper is thick so seeing the ink from the other side of the page is minimal. It is not a huge distraction like other journals I have had. The only thing that could be improved that I can think of is the pocket in the back. It does not expand enough. It is also tight. I made my own pocket to put back there. Also, even though I did not expect one, a second ribbon would be a nice addition.
I also love the position of the pen holder.
If I could give a 4.5 I would. My only negative is the construction of the pocket.
I am using this journal as a bullet journal to record weekly exercise, eating habits, errands, projects and scripture. I also highlight life events that are memorable. The journal pages are a great size with dots to help me map out sections w/o going crooked.with the right markers, writing does not bleed through heavier paper used in this journal.
Very well made, like the little ruler it comes with, and love the pen loop. It even smells good! Paper is nice and thick but feathers a bit with a fountain pen (see pictures, I used Pilot varsity) and does bleed ever so slightly with that same pen, which is the one I wanted to use and got the thicker paper for so it costs a star from me. I will see how the general construction hold up with use and update my review accordingly but it does seem well constructed and I am confident it will do just fine in that respect.
I decided to try bullet journaling after continual frustration with preprinted planners never having quite the right layout to work for me. The Hustle dotted notebook is beautiful. The cover is sturdy, but with a soft feel to it. The blue spine flexes without cracking, and adds a bit of color without being gaudy. Also, it has a pen loop and a pocket. I must have a pen loop; otherwise, my pen disappears into the bottom of my purse. When looking at journals, I was appalled at $20 and $30 notebooks that had no pen loop.
My only slight quibble with it is when I was testing my fountain pen (Pilot Metropolitan EF with Noodler's Zhivago ink) in it, it would bleed through if I colored in a square or otherwise filled in an area. Standard writing with the EF nib was fine. Gel pens, Frixion highlighters, and Tombow brush pens write beautifully on the paper, with no ghosting or bleedthrough. I haven't tried Sharpies, so I don't know how well those will work.
This is a well-made, fine quality journal and sturdy enought for everyday use.
A journal that actually lays flat, ive bought a few and havent been that impressed with them. This notebook by far is a favorite now.
I havent testes the pages with a ton of ink but I dont usually use a ton and so far no ghosting. The quality is great.
The customer service is phenomenal and they actually care about their customers feedback and how happy they are with the product and service they are providing. I always prefer to go with small companies as they are the ones that are striving to make it - they know how to treat their customers and they care about the products that they provide.
