My 12 year old is using these to block extraneous sounds while doing homework. Thought the ear cups would be larger. He is pretty small and the ear cups don't fully surround his ear but partially sit on top of them. Nonetheless, they do the job and he is happy with the results of the noise cancelling.
For the price, these work quite well. They effectively stop most low frequency, regular noise like aircraft engines, facilitating sleep and listening to music/films at lower volumes. They're less effective at blocking (though still reduce the volume of) irregular and high frequency noise. The cup is a bit small and can be uncomfortable on the ear when worn for several hours at a time. The case is nice. Comes with two cords and several adapters.
I purchased these to wear while operating a tractor. I can state they exceeded my expectations. Had been using regular BT headphones. I had a BT receiver I plugged in to connect with the phone and it was fine with the sound. When operating the tractor I turned on the noise cancelling and wish I had this setup years ago. I could hear the music better than ever and the tractor noise reduced to a low hum. Will up the rating when they prove durable.
I finally had a chance to try these headphones on a plane. I went from Arizona to New York. These headphones are amazing. It cut the noise level so much, I even kept the headphones on when I wasn't listening to music or a movie.
I tried a pair of Bose and I'm hard-pressed to detect a difference. Neither were perfect, both were very good.

I work as a closed captioner. These are totally awesome for $20. My dogs bark, and it drowns out the sound and magnifies the audio I need to hear. I would get these for ppl for christmas. Would be nice if they were wireless...but I'm totally ok with the wires.
I use this when I fly on very loud C-17s. It makes the trip much more quiet and i can actually hear whatever I'm watching on my phone. Thanks.

For flights, I don't see how you can get a better product for the money. The noise cancelling works amazingly well.
