At first I felt these lights didn't respond well enough to the ambient light, coming on when they didn't need to. The trick is to flip them over, using the bottom socket, which is somewhat counter intuitive, but looks just fine.
The ambient light sensor is on what is nominally the bottom of the light, so it gets shaded if the lights are put in as shown on the web page. But put them in upside down, with the ambient light sensor showing on top, and they work perfectly. Once installed, they are pretty quick to turn on, turning off in about 90 seconds, and I like that the switch is silent - important for a night light. The light quality is very warm - not at all harsh. I've now spread 10 of these around my house, so I can wander the halls at night and in the AM without having to turn on any overhead lights. All in all a big thumbs up.
