Perfect frames at an amazing price. Sleek black matte finish, good fit, doesn't block the plate or stickers, and comes with screws and caps. Durability is unknown but I'll just buy another set when the time comes.
I am likely the only one that ever ordered these particular frames without understanding that they are for 2 plates instead of a 2-piece frame for 1 plate. But I don't care how many times you read the description, you will only see that it is "2-pieces", which is not exactly the same as saying it will take care of both your front and rear plates.
But hey, I thought the description sounded good enough to order for just my broken cheap plastic front frame (thanks auto car wash), and if it turned out to be good, I might also order it for the rear plate. Imagine my pleasant surprise when they arrived and it finally dawned on me (big duh!) that it was for 2 plates.
These are sturdy with a great finish over non-rusting stainless steel, complete with fasteners, washers, and snap-on cover caps. What more could you ask for?
For those people complaining about the fasteners, hey...whatever fasteners you were using before (screws, bolts, nails, wire, crazy glue), there is no reason they won't still work if the included machine-threaded bolts don't work. For myself, I needed to use the same sharp screws into the soft bumper that I was already using up front, but I could use the included bolts on the machine-threaded mounts for the rear. Big Woop ! Who cares? The included washers and cover caps will work for most any fasteners, just as they did on mine. And if they don't, so what. You didn't have them before, and you don't have them now.
Now I got 2 extra bolts for my misc. fastener drawer, and two really nice license plate frames, all with the fastener heads covered with nice black snap covers. Thanks Karoad, great product (all crying wienies, get over yourselves).
I ordered the license plate frames to go with my new California black license plates and integrate with the "blacked out" theme of my Tacoma truck. The frames are perfect. The satin finish is exactly what I was looking for, the heavy quality material used makes for a very solid frame, and the ease of installation really sealed the deal for me. The front frame, which doesn't have much to attach to is very secure and solid due to the strength of the frame. The plastic housing for the screws makes for a nice touch. The caps are removable in case one needs to adjust the enclosed screws.
I'm a perfectionist and used to have to have polished stainless steel license plate covers that were twice the price of these frames. I put these on my new Ford F-150 and they just blend. No bling, but then again these are only license plate frames. My wife bought the same pair and I installed them today. Same perfect powder coat and the screw caps fit perfectly again. If you want something that looks classy and replaces your "I bought by X at x dealership" these are the perfect solution. I've had these on my Ford for almost a year in NW Washington weather and they look as good an new.
This is a cleaner and much more subtle way to frame and outline the license plates and it is a lot slimmer than most of the plastic dealer frames. It is stiff and supportive. They don't mention that they have to small "keeper cleats" in the bottom that the plate slides into. Many low cost frames don't have that and it makes a big difference. I wasn't a huge fan of the screws that were supplied but my existing screws with hex heads fit into the the retainers perfectly and the plastic caps covered them for a great finished look. The frames make it much simpler to add the yearly stickers to the plate each year since they don't have the wider plastic section on the top and bottom. When my wife noticed the finished product looking clean and sleek I knew I hit on the right solution

I don't really know why I "zone-in" on people's license plate frames. A lot of people leave their plastic dealer's plate frames on and I think it looks tacky. I like ones that are understated and aren't obnoxious or flashy. I got these frames for a silver Challenger R/T that has matte black stripes and the "blacktop package" (black wheels and trim pieces). The frames are made out of stainless that's been painted (or powdercoated) a nice matte black. They're a slim design so none of the important date stickers get covered up. They come with two different sets of screws; one with a coarse machine thread and one with a coarse "sheet metal" thread. It also comes with little plastic black caps to fit over the hardware and cover up the bolts. They fit fine and do a nice job of obscuring the hardware. They just pop off if you need to remove them; they're plenty flexible to snap on and off. They're nice plate frames and inexpensive. I think they'd look fine if you want a matte black look and a very unassuming, stealthy look.
Background: The license plate frames on my car were about 9 years old and the plates themselves were over 16 years old. The plates were starting to fall apart from age/rust/UV, etc., so I had to buy a new set of plates from my DMV. When the new plates arrived, the plates indicated that I should put the month and year stickers on the bottom-left and bottom-right, respectively, of my plates rather than the top-left and top-right as they were on my old license plates. That's when I realized the frames that came with my car from the dealership would no longer suffice -- they almost completely covered the month/year stickers on my new license plates. Law requires the stickers to be visible and I didn't want to get pulled over on account of that.
So I began looking into aftermarket products like this one and had a little trouble finding one that I was confident was thin enough all the way around the frame so that it would ensure that the stickers -- if placed at the bottom of the plate -- would be visible. Based on the product description for this item I was pretty sure it'd work, and sure enough it did.
I could have just put the new plates on without any sort of frame around them, I see cars driving around like that all the time, but I think the frame looks nice and it offers a *tiny* bit of protection against scratching the edges of the plate, thereby making it a little harder for rust to get a foothold.
Side note, I was sort of hoping to find a product just like this that also had a clear protective cover over the plate, but I couldn't find one. All I could find were ones that claimed to have a smoked finish and I'm not sure I want that as it'd dampen visibility of the plate somewhat. Perhaps the smoked thing is to reduce the reflection of headlight glare from other cars' headlights, I don't know. Anyhow, my plates are "naked" other than the frames I bought and the little black snap-on caps that help to protect the screws/bolts from rusting. That's not a knock against this particular product, just an observation based on my window shopping for something that'd work.
Bought this because I liked how it is a slim profile with only two fasteners at the top but it gives a finished appearance around the license plate instead of just a plain old license plate stuck up on the car. It comes with hex-head screws with machine anchor threads that I honestly don't know how you would use them - I simply used the same fasteners that came with the car. The black caps cover the fasteners but the caps are plastic so have a cheap feel to them, but they serve the purpose of covering the fasteners and thus giving a more finished look. I was pleasantly surprised at receiving these TWO black-coated stainless steel frames at this price, so the plastic caps are easy to accept.
Recently switched over to the old school CA plates in Black and Gold, so wanted black license frames to complement them. These not only look good, especially with the bolts caps that are black as well, but they came packaged in a very nice box with the frames in bubble wrap inside the box. Installation was a snap and I was back cruising
Nice, understated frames. I wanted something to give the license plates on my new car a finished look, and something that would protect and hold them in place. These fit the bill well. The caps that cover the screws are a nice touch however the screws themselves are not the best, hence the 4 stars. I used the self-tapping screws that were included. The front ones went in fine, but the rear ones were hard to get in and I ended up stripping them before they tightened all the way (and this was with putting all my weight/strength behind it). So the rear plate is a little loose. The screws seem to be made of cheap aluminum. I would have just used the better screws that were already holding the license plate, but the heads are too wide and wouldn't work with the caps. I will get the stripped screws out and either try the included machine screws, or find higher quality ones to use. Other than that I'm happy withe the frames themselves.
