Decent picture quality in day and night. Connected properly, the rear view does come on automatically with gridlines. Keep in mind the gridlines are only a guide. The lines will vary on the angle you install the camera. Both front and rear do have wide angles. The mirror has a greyish tint and is very clear. The downside to having a wider than stock rear view mirror is that it blocks your sun visors. I don't blame the camera for that. I did deduct a star on this for a few things. First, my initial rear view camera was defective. I notified the seller and a new one was sent to me. That one worked fine. Second, I can barely see the video with polarized sunglasses. Regular sunglasses work fine. The last and the least is that this does not record both front and rear out of the box. I had to contact the seller. They emailed me the files to update the firmware on the device. The old firmware is from Nov 2017. So they've had this new firmware all along and didn't update the cameras in production? Since the end result is that it does exactly what I bought it for, to record while driving and be a good backup camera, I'm still overall happy. At $72, it's not the cheapest one available but it's a good one.
This product is awesome. The picture quality is great, and the menu for set up and video review is clear and intuitive. I installed it myself and did a hard wire for the possibility of motion detection when the car is parked and everything works as described.
