In August I reviewed the Govee Bluetooth Smart Hygrometer/Thermometer, on my website, cigarcraig.com, but I really wanted more from it. Recently the WiFi version has become available, so I jumped on it and picked one up to test out side by side with the Bluetooth version. With the bluetooth version, I found that I had to be in the same room as the unit, which is fine if I wanted to know the conditions inside a given humidor without opening it up and looking in, or get alerts if things are going out of whack. This is all well and good, and the historical information that the unit logs is nice to have also. I did wish for a longer range solution, then along comes the WiFi version. The only difference is a small WiFi symbol in the lcd screen. The free app is the cool part, and I can only speak to the iOS version, but I was able to add both units, and I have no reason to believe that there's no reasonable limit to the number of units you could add, assuming you name them differently in the set up.
I did fumble a bit with the setup directions, they weren't quite as concise as they could have been. I had to read through the Q&A to find the directions to connect to my home WiFi, but once I did find it, it couldn't have been easier. I would suggest that the company might put documentation on their website as a resource as well as I actually looked there before reading further into the printed manual. If the documentation is the only downside I'm not going to complain.
For ease of use, this gets a thumbs up, and the unit appears to be reasonably accurate, compared to both its Bluetooth sibling and other digital hygrometers. Also, the cigars in the humidors that the hygrometers are in smoke fine, the ultimate test, in my opinion. As far as price goes, the WiFi version is almost twice the price of the Bluetooth version, which is a bit steep, but the functionality is worth the extra cash. Are there cheaper items on the market that do the same thing? Sure there are. Maybe they don't provide the data logging that these units do, nor do they have a family of other home automation products that work with the same app like lighting and doorbells and other fun stuff if you're into that.
This thing exceeded my expectations. I need the WiFi aspect for remote monitoring, and was concerned about the range of its WiFi connection: I need to track a detached garage we’re using for storage. The nearest house WAP is not close to the garage. I set up the device easily per instructions, right next to the WAP to ensure it connected correctly - then moved it out to the garage. Works perfectly. The app is simple, intuitive, and informative. I haven’t tested the alerts yet. My only quibble is a nit: whoever wrote the manual is clearly not a solid English speaker....but the manual is plenty readable for what you need. This thing is great; I expect I’ll be buying more and eventually replacing most of the old style wireless (radio) thermo/hygro transmitters I have around.
I am not going to lie, and I originally wanted to get one of these to monitor the temperature in my server room an office. So that I know when to turn the fans on or off in my room. However, at first, I didn’t know how well this device would work, because it was a new device, to my surprise this device works pretty well for what it does. The setup is easy to understand, which at times the device would not pair with the app. I’m not sure if it was something to do with my phone or if it was the app. However, after I got it paired, I set it up and forgot about it. Which since I’m in the winter months, my room doesn’t get that hot, so I never have reached the max temperature limit to see if the notifications work. However, I can say the device has never disconnected from my network, and it syncs all its data as it should. The device itself doesn’t have much to it. It has a display that displays the temperate and humidity, and a single push button, that acts as a power/reset button. Then we have the battery cover, which the device takes 3 AAA’s which are included in the box. I think the only three things that are missing from this device is Alexa support, it would be nice to ask Alexa what the temperature in the room is, and then a rechargeable battery would be nice, lastly a backlight for the LCD Screen, so you can see it in the dark. The app works great, and it's easy to navigate and setup. Overall, I’m impressed with this little device. So I won’t have any issues recommending the device.
This was perfect for my needs. I have a 12x12' reptile room with a humidifier. I was tired of worrying/checking the room multiple times each day just to figure out the temperature/ humidity and make it consistent. Now I can check temp/humidity on my phone anywhere with the app and know my lizard is happy. My only wish is for future Alexa compatibility. If a future model has that someday I will buy it too.
I recently bought a greenhouse, and I was looking for a product to remotely monitor the temperature within the greenhouse. This product is perfect because it allows me to do just that, but also provides so much more! I love the app for this product, it provides a lot of great information. In addition, it monitors humidity, which is awesome. I have used it for about a week now and I love it and have no complaints. I love the feature where you can set notifications if the temp/humidity drops or exceeds certain levels.
So far, it is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a remote thermometer.

Description
I love this product since it's super accurate. The best part is that I can monitor the temperature through my phone, which is super convenient. The design is nice, and only three batteries needed. Looking great in my room. As an engineer, I would expect if there is any connection among devices as I can set up air conditioner on/off according to the temperature during a specific time period each day.
My 16 month old baby girl is very particular about room temperature, particularly at night and no matter how much we tried we could never get it to the right temperature. Result? She would get up 2-3 times at night and be either cold or sweaty.
My wife and I decided to purchase this device to monitor the temperature and find the ‘sweet spot’. After using it for a couple of weeks, I’m pleased to report that this thermometer is not only accurate but consistently accurate. It maintains a stable connection to the router so no qualms there. Past data is available as well.
One minor drawback is that it doesn’t support 5GHz wifi band that is faster and more stable but then again I haven’t really had any issues with 2.4GHz band either.
Well built and super easy to use.
Pros:
- Accurate temperature and relative humidity readings compared to my other accurate devices.
- Temperature and relative humidity can be easily calibrated. I don't need to calibrate mine.
- Very easy to set up mobile app which works great on my Nokia 6.1 phone/Android 9.
- The app shows battery level on the device.
- Push Notification for "Alarm me" setup works and deliver a notification almost instantly.
- Graphs are very well present, easy to use, just tap on any area to see measured values (2 decimal points resolution) with date and time.
They are dynamically scaled based max and min values. You can see peaks and dips clearly.
Graphs are also colored codes, blue - normal, red - alert (if "Alarm me" is set)
- Reliable WiFi connection. So far the device has not lost WiFi connection since it was installed 2 weeks ago.
- "Alarm me" setup allows a range of low and high values.
- Data upload interval options: 10 or 30 minutes interval.
- Uses 3 AAA batteries (included).
Cons (minor):
- No back-light button on the device. It is hard to read the display in a dim light room.
- "Alarm me" temperature/RH values can only be set from the app when a phone is in the WiFi range (i.e. at home). Once set, the values can not be changed remotely (away from home).
- Data refresh using buttons on the home and graph screens would be great.
Tips:
- I replaced the original 3M tape with 3M Command tape (rated for 3 lbs weight) so it can be easily removed from a wall without paint damage.
- App home screen shows the temperature and RH values of the last measuring interval. You need to refresh the screen (swipe down) to see the updated values.
I purchased this thermometer to monitor the temperature of my insulated garage. The setup process was simpler than other smart devices I have set up, only require me to connect my phone to the Wi-Fi network I intend to use the thermometer with. I think it uses Bluetooth to communicate with the thermometer, and pairing with my home network only required me to input the password.
Once it was paired, the app was able to see the thermometer instantly and I've had no connectivity issues yet. There is an option to update the refresh interval between 10 and 30 minutes presumably for battery life, but it appears that it forces a refresh whenever you go into the data graph in the app. The information is quite detailed, and the tools in the app make it easy to set up alarms for both temperature and humidity. So far I am very impressed, will update the review if anything changes.
I absolutely love this monitor. I have it in my chinchilla room fo keep an eye on the temperature in case of a power outage while I'm at work. My favorite part is that it will alert me if the temperature goes above a certain point, I have set it to. God willing not, but it could be a lifesaver for my fur babies!!!
