So far so good. We purchased this a few days ago, and scheduled a three hour time slot for delivery. They arrived 90 minutes into the time slot, and very professional drop off. Box is about 77 pounds total.
While we were waiting for installers we hired to mount the TV on the wall, we were very anxious to test it out, especially since it was refurbished. So we opened the box a few hours before the installation crew arrived.
If you don't need to mount your TV on a wall, the stand is fairly easy to install with a Phillips screwdriver. A total of nine screws, and if you watch a YouTube video that shows the installation it is really easy, taking a couple minutes.
We watch a lot of NBA so we rely on Amazon Fire Stick. Unfortunately LG does not have the NBA league pass app available native to the TV software. So we bought a Fire Stick 4K and it works just like our non-4K version.
The Amazon Fire Stick 4k remote even recognized the TV instantly, so we love the additional volume and on/off buttons on the 4k remote, since we don't have to switch between two remotes constantly. The LG remote can even navigate some of the Amazon Fire Stick screen controls, too, in case you misplace the Fire Stick remote.
We have not tested the LG remote much except to change some picture and sound settings. There is a microphone button, so you can say "picture settings" and it takes you to the right place.
We bought a LG sound bar. I didn't want to spend a lot so we got the SK6Y for about $300. I'll say what's great is that it is truly wireless if you like that, it syncs through Bluetooth directly to the TV.
**One major issue with the Bluetooth is the sync of the soundbar and the TV picture. For a movie or tv show with a lot of dialogue, the sound and picture are not perfectly synced. It's barely noticeable, a tiny fraction of a second. If it bothers you, I would use the optical or HDMI ARC connections.
The soundbar comes with an optical cable. Very thin cable so it would be pretty easy to hide. We had a short HDMI cable and most websites say that HDMI is the best sound quality. We did not do a side by side test, but find a new music video from YouTube to play and WOW, the sound is three dimensional and the subwoofer kicks in nicely. We played Pentatonix, Ariana Grande, and The Weeknd as a quick sample, and were impressed. We adjusted the bass to play a little stronger so our feet really feels the vibrations. When watching sports there is very little bass to feel, except for some of the commercials with good music.
Finally, my thoughts on the picture quality and would we recommend Refurbished to save money:
1. The picture quality is insanely good. Just like when you walk into Best Buy or Costco to shop tv's. Super bright and great colors. It almost looks better from a distance.
Make sure you take the time to explore settings. Movie and sports each have different settings for optimal viewing.
2. Refurbished is worth it from our standpoint. Save a few hundred dollars over Best Buy/Costco for a new TV that had an opened box return.
3. The Amazon Fire Stick 4k works extremely well. Indispensable. Get the 4K version.
4. Sound Bar is optional but I am glad we got it. HDMI or Optical cable over the Bluetooth due to the sound sync issue. Hopefully you can install the sound bar close to the TV to hide the cable.
5. TV is surprisingly thin, and it looks beautiful, the screen dominates with a very thin black border around the screen.
This TV produces a stunning image with incredible contrast, which is to be expected from an OLED of this caliber. If you're contemplating buying this, I highly recommend it. That said, I want to talk about some of the issues I encountered trying to get the display dialed in to my liking.
Out of the box, the TV will work fine; however, at least in my experience, I experienced a significant amount of "judder" when it came to panning motions or objects crossing the screen. This judder (shaking of the image) is typical of OLED displays.
After endlessly playing with the picture settings, I felt I finally got the smoothest image motion by setting the de-judder to 4 and de-blur to 4. This may be different from set to set, but you should know this is a feature you'll probably have to play with in order to get motion displayed in a way that's most pleasing to you. I recommend testing many different combinations of de-judder and de-blur to see what you find the most pleasing.
I also encountered issues with very dark or near black scenes becoming pixelated while in Cinema mode (the default mode when viewing over a Fire TV Stick). The GoT episode "The Long Night" was almost unwatchable due to the level of pixelation. I solved this by reducing the brightness to 45 and increasing the OLED panel to 55. This change caused a minor loss of shadow detail, but resulted in very clean blacks with almost no pixelation.
Near black pixelation is another known issue with LG TVs. Sony handles the near blacks a little better, but at this price point, the LG is a steal. Reducing the brightness by a tiny amount pretty much solved the problem. Definitely not a deal breaker.
The refurb arrived on time and undamaged. I had to re-sync the remote to the TV in order to get the pointer to work on the screen, but after that, I encountered no other issues. The LG remote is compatible with my Fire TV Stick. Everything works flawlessly.
I will dispense with reviewing the merits of the TV itself as there are tons of reviewers who have done a much better job than I could and instead review buying a refurb TV via Amazon. If you are hesitant about buying a refurb, as I was, hopefully this review will be of some use. Your mileage may vary, but here was my experience:
Shipping:
The shipping company delivering the set contacted me about an hour in to my delivery window to let me know they were a half hour away. Removal from the truck and delivery into the house was efficiently and professionally handled.
Packaging and Contents:
The TV came in its original packaging, with one superficial quarter-sized ding on the box that had been covered over with electrical tape. Totally fine. Inside, the television was neatly ensconced in what appeared to be its original styrofoam packaging and TV cover. All components were included in the box, including the stand, remote control, screws and instruction manuals. No batteries.
Condition of TV:
TV worked perfectly out of the box. The TV still had its protective clear plastic for both the screen and rear of the TV, as well as its energy rating sticker. I could detect no dings, scratches, or any other deficiencies TV. I did not check the numbers of hours it had been used prior to my purchase, but in all respects it has the look and feel of a brand new television. Would absolutely purchase a refurb through Amazon again.
Great TV. One of the better ones you can buy right now without taking out a second mortgage. And buying the refurbished model saves a lot of money. I'm very happy with my purchase.
In this price point this is the best picture quality you are going to get. I chose the amazon certified refurbished version and the TV has had no issues.

Product was exactly as advertised
Took a chance on this tv, and I was well rewarded. The delivery service was excellent (actually delivered to me early after contacting me), and the TV has been everything it was advertised to be. Excellent picture and features! It was a huge upgrade from my 58" Panasonic plasma tv.
So far so good. Shipping was well handle. Amazing image quality.
I purchased this tv back in January. And every evening I can't wait to turn something on to watch. This picture is better than I could have ever expected and better than advertised. Of course, you should know there is not muck 4k content out there. Netflix I have found is the best place to watch 4k tv. I've already watched all the Marvel series on my 8 year old 55" samsung. But watching all of these series again on this tv has brought on a whole new experience., Of course I had to compliment this tv with a marantz/klipsch 7.2.4 dolby atmos system. Regular tv will never be the same, I can never go back. If your shopping, buy it, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to get home.
We have other LG OLEDs, so we knew about the insanely great picture, the totally-gone blacks, etc. But we were hesitant about buying a refurb unit. It seems to be working fine so far.
