I have had my robot friend, Simon, for a week. First impressions upon opening the box was an “Oooo Aahhh”. The directions said to let your new robot friend charge overnight before first use, but of course, I ran him around immediately to just see how he works! He worked for about ten minutes. I couldn’t figure out how to get him to his home (charging station), but it turns out, he can find his own way home just fine. I recommend that you do take a few minutes to read the directions and familiarize yourself with the remote. It took about 4 hours or so for Simon to fully charge, then I turned him loose. Let me just say, I thought my floors were clean, or, at least, pretty clean. As it turns out, they were not. They were not clean at all. Simon has picked up so much fur, dirt, dust, it’s unbelievable. My floors have literally never looked better! They are CLEAN. For real clean. I’ve always had a hard time cleaning under the bed, but now I don’t have to worry about it at all, because my robot friend takes care of it.

I have all hardwood floors and tile. I also have a few throw rugs, some thick, some thin. Simon does a perfect job on the floors, and has no problems navigating over the throw rugs (though he might turn up a corner, but he will run back over it and still get it clean). I don’t think your robot friend would work very well if you have a lot of or mostly carpet. If you have hardwood or mostly hardwood, you will love your new robot friend.

Simon mostly gets from room to room okay – the “up” entry points he cannot do on his own. For example, he cannot get over the hump into my kitchen, but he can get down the hump. He also cannot get over the hump to get in the bathrooms. This is actually fine for me, because I prefer to control when he goes into the kitchen anyway so that I can shake off the rugs and/or pick up the cat food and water bowls and any shoes or other things that might be on the floor. I just put a bar stool in his way to keep him from exiting the kitchen when it’s time for him to clean in the kitchen.

Simon will clean for about 3 or 3.5 hours. He does not have a “plan” so to speak, not like a person would say go from corner to the center of the room, but he is still very thorough, and obviously, his plan is way better than mine since my floors are so much cleaner than they ever were when I was in charge. My advice is to just trust the process and let your robot friend find his way around on his own! Just make sure that you pick up any cords, especially small cords like phone charging cords, and shoe laces or the like, so that he doesn’t accidentally grab onto something he shouldn’t. Simon also has sensors so that when he comes to a piece of furniture or a wall, he will slow down so as to gently bump it before he turns off into a new direction. I have also noticed that if he comes into contact with a chair or table leg, he will often go in a circle all the way around the leg to clean around it.

Once your robot friend is done doing your dirty work for you, he will go back home on his own. If your robot friend cannot find his way home, you may not have provided him enough space. Is that any way to treat your new best friend?? Make sure that he has several feet of clear space in front of his charging station, and that there are a few feet of clear space on the sides of the charging station as well. Also, make sure to empty out his dust bin after every use.

One of the fortunate side effects of having my new robot friend, is the “give a mouse a cookie” effect it seems to have had. Give a person a clean floor, and the person may say oh, it looks so clean in here, let me pick up this shirt and put it away. The person then notices that the bathroom trash can is full; since the floors look so nice, the bathroom should be clean, too *cleans bathroom*, and so on.

The only thing about my new robot friend, which isn’t enough to bother me at all, is that he is, well, he’s not super loud, but he’s not very quiet either. So, if you are watching tv, you may need to turn it up just a bit if you are running your robot friend while you’re at home. Well worth it for the service he provides, though.

Overall, I do recommend this little robot. I am very pleased with this purchase. If you’re in the market for a robot floor cleaning wizard, don’t hesitate to click that Buy Now button.

My partner and I have pets and we both work and we have hardwood floors and we like a clean common space. We were sweeping 2-3 times a day and still getting frustrated in between. Then came Rosie. Our house is so clean, our life is so happy! We got her on sale. I can't think of any reason to get a more expensive vacuum unless you just have to have the app integration. Or maybe if you want the mopping feature, because that would be nice.

She automatically turns on every morning and goes until she gets low on battery. She then docks herself to charge. The first few runs, we had to empty the container every 20 minutes, but now. It can hold a day's worth pretty easily.

Keep it away from thinner (charging) cords! It really messed up a brush the first week we had her.

(The photo is her next to what she got over about 3 days)

Note: Definitely more effective on hardwood than carpet. She does get dust and dirt out of carpet, but she leaves bigger debris like strings and fuzz

We got this on prime day so it’s still pretty new. It does a good job getting up pet hair and dirt/crumbs on our hard floors. Haven’t tried it on carpet yet. It goes for a LONG time before needing to recharge. The cats like to chase it, punch it, bat at the bristles, and ride it. It’s pretty funny! It’s still too new to give it 5 stars yet, so I’ll update after we’ve had it for awhile.

Update: Had it for months and we still love it!

My first experience did not go well with this Bot, but after a call to customer service (great telephone customer service, by the way), I made a couple of modifications that have helped. At first the Bot (we call her 'Rosie' after the maid robot on the cartoon The Jetsons) would not climb onto two of the rugs on our tile floor. At first I thought maybe they were too plush/tall and it couldn't climb them. Then it just wouldn't go at all, just undocked itself on my command, was sluggish, circled around a bit and redocked itself. That's when I called customer service. The Rep asked if there was BLACK coloring on any of the rugs, which there was on the two rugs it was avoiding. Well, the CLIFF SENSORS read BLACK as a CLIFF!! Go figure. He suggested taping over the 3 cliff sensors on the bottom, taking care not to put tape directly ON the sensor. Well, that has worked like a charm! I just have to remember to close the basement door since the cliff sensors have been disabled. As well as the docking issue, he said it was probably weak on charge and may not have docked properly to charge (verified: after a good charge it works great). I've been using Rosie for 3 weeks now since the customer service call and adjustments, and it's working GREAT. Last night it ran for 2 hours straight and did a nice job. We have 2 Border Collie dogs that shed a fair amount, and no dog hair found. Gotta love that. I'll update this review if things change, but right now I'm happy. REVIEW UPDATE: I almost returned this and bought a ROOMBA. The Roomba arrived, was very hard to program, and it has the same cliff sensor issue as the iLife, so it wouldn't go onto my black edged carpets, which meant taping over the sensors. After one cleaning, dog hair wrapped all around the brushes and took almost a half hour to clean out. That being said, I sent the Roomba back (really hated it) and kept the iLife. That being said, the iLife is superior when it comes to price and day to day maintenance. Aftermarket filters are readily available (cheap) and I'm considering buying a 2nd and maybe even a 3rd one (since we have a split level house). Really loving this little bug!

What a deal for the price! I didn't have high expectations when I bought this so I am actually thrilled with this little robot. First of all - it was very easy to set up. Remote and timer and clock all pretty easy if you follow the directions. Having said that let's get to how the robot works. Will this replace my Dyson Animal? Oh no - it will not. Will it make me happy in the morning when I go downstairs and there isn't a crumb on the kitchen floor? Oh yes - it does! I have two large English Labs - bred for their thick coats. Hair around here is a nightmare. Every Single Day I used to wake up and go downstairs and there would be hair piles everywhere. My floors are all wide plank natural cherry wood and I would walk around with my cordless handheld sucking up hair frequently. I would never find it all and then it would accumulate again and, well, if you have Labs / dogs you know the drill. I do have low profile large area rugs and this does an ok job on them. That's what I will use the Dyson on - weekly instead of every second or third day. This robot saves me a whole lot of time.I set it for 11:00 pm and I can't really hear it if I'm upstairs and the tv is on.

Downsides? I wish the dirt cup was a little larger because, again, dog hair here is a challenge. However, it has never gone on strike because it has too much to do. It goes 'home' presumably when it is getting near capacity. I empty the cup in the morning and sometimes run it again if it's convenient. Otherwise it waits until the next scheduled cycle. It doesn't do deep cleaning but it isn't supposed to. It makes my house livable and for that I am grateful to the robot gods.

One thing - as soon as it turns on - it heads right for the biggest, hairiest dog if he is in the room. Haha. Dog waits until it is 1" away and then he will get up in disgust and relocate until robot finds him again. For that reason I run it at night when the big hairy dogs are on the bed safe from the creature that goes bump in the night.

If this thing dies - I will replace it in a heartbeat.

Today was the second day I use this vacuum cleaner. It charges maybe in four hours and that lasts for two hours of operation. That little sucker (literally) has gone all around my apartment and has made my self esteem regarding how clean I thought I was go down below the minimums. The first day collected so much dust and hair from the floor that the dust bin was full after the two hours of operation, so it is important to clean it after every use. Today in it's second round was less dust to vacuum so you can see how effective it is. This thing goes up the three carpets I have in my apartment, the thickest one being maybe six milimiter tall. It went under the bed in the room, between chairs, in the bathroom, closet and kitchen. My apartment is relatively small 70 square meters, and in two hours it easily made two runs in every room. So, very happy with the product, until now it does all it's supposed to do. I walked behind it to see how it behaved, didn't get stuck and worked on the edges and the center of the room. Finally after two hours it goes in home mode and docks in its charger without any problems. Something to have in mind is that I have no pets, so the hair laying on the floor comes mostly from my head and my chest, I like to run around with little to no clothes. I named it Rosey as in the Jetsons and I'm so satisfied with Rosey that my wife made me choose between her and the vacuum cleaner. Too bad, I'm going to miss my wife.
In a few days I'll update the review.

I sent this robotic back. Not because we didn't like it, but because it didn't do a good job on carpet. On our harwood, and the tile floors it did a very good job. It cleaned around objects nicely. Slowed itself when it came close to a wal and when it senced the kitchen cabnets kick plate.
It captures dust, loose pet har, small bits, but it can't pick up larger debris or the cat hair on the carpet. It did roll the hair on the carpet into a ball of sorts so I could pick that up by hand. It cleand in corners nicely because the sweeping bristles are long. It did run over the cats food tray where we have their dry food and water bowl sitting on the tile floor. It knocked around the food bowl spilling some of the food, but the water bowl remained stationary because of it's weight. The unit proceeded to sweep up the dry food it spilled though. .
The dust catcher is small unit and will need to be watched and emptied when full. The filter is also small and will get plugged. I used a can of air and blew the dust off of it. It came with three filters and a remote.
If iLife, at some point in the future, makes a unit with a sweeping brush that will clean carpert you can bet I will purchase it. This robot has good suction, just not brush for sweeping carpet. If you have tile, wood, lenoleum this robot is a good choice. Realize that the dust catcher is small and it will need to be cleaned a few times if doing a whole house sweep.

Money was tight and I couldn’t afford a new roomba, so I took a chance on this little dude! 1st day on the job and I’m already more impressed with it than I was my roomba! Not only did it do a great job sweeping up my darling fur babies fur tumbleweeds that developed faster than I can shake a broom at, but the real test was in the bathroom where they must throw raves in their litter pan whenever I leave for work. The roomba I had would usually assist in making sure it flung all over. Stepping out of the shower onto Kitty Litter Beach is gross. This little beauty came in and literally cleaned house. It transitioned over my hardwood and rugs without crying out for help and made it up and over the small ledge between the hallway and bathroom that the ol roomba just wouldn’t or couldn’t.

We have 4 furry pets and were having a tough time keeping our floors clean as everyone started shedding this spring. The ILIFE V3s has made a huge difference! We run it once or twice a day and it does a great job picking up dust and hair in between major weekly cleanings. Our house looks and smells better with much less effort. The only downside is that it sometimes misses areas (we now block it into certain rooms so that it cleans more thoroughly), but since we run it every day and still do a regular vacuuming and mopping every week, that doesn't really bother us. Although space in the canister is limited by necessity, we find that it can easily clean about 800 sq ft before we have to clean it out (probably more if we weren't in a heavy shedding season) and emptying and replacing the container takes only seconds. We have tile, wood floors, and low-pile area rugs and it does a good job everywhere.

For the price, this is an awesome vacuum! This was our first robot vacuum and we absolutely love it! The only downside is that she loves cables and any type of cord, see you have to make sure you put those up before she starts working. I am amazed how much is collected in the bin! It’s hard to believe our floors are that dirty… The battery life seems pretty good, and the remote is nice to control her movements, but I haven’t set up the timer so we just run her when needed. Obviously in this price range, you aren’t going to get any of the smart room mapping features like you would with other more expensive robot vacuums, so this one ends up just going around randomly until the battery gets low and then it finds its way back. It’s not super efficient but it does the job and for the price, you can’t complain.
