Google Pixel 2 XL Case, SUPCASE Full-Body Rugged Holster Case with Built-in Screen Protector for Google Pixel 2 XL 2017 Release, Unicorn Beetle PRO Series - Retail Package (Black)

I ordered two of these cases for the wife and I when we got our pixel 2 xls. One black, one blue. Having owned these cases for our old g3s and g4s I knew this product could take a beating.

I ripped the screen protector out of my case and replaced it with tempered glass. I know screen protectors are subjective, but I still like the added protection.

Be warned, removing the supcase screen protector is pretty tough and requires patience. The edges are the tough spot since that's where the adhesive is. I ended up soaking the case in warm water and carefully used a small flat head screw driver to remove the rest. Make sure to clean the edge with rubbing alcohol when your done to remove the remaining adhesive. If you don't it may interfere with your new protectors touch sensitivity.

These cases are rigid! I'm a Millwright and work in some big mechanical rooms and have dropped my phone onto concrete from ladders 10 feet in the air. Nothing happened but my elevated heart rate. I trust these cases with my expensive phones.

One glaring difference between the black and blue case is the speaker cut out. I think supcases initial design partially covers the call sensor on the black models(see photo) The blue model has a split cut out that comes nowhere near the sensor. I've had the "I can't hang up the phone" black screen on my black case but my wife has never had the issue with her blue case.

I don't know if the other colored cases are similar to the blue case cutout. Supcase... Do you care to comment ?

All in all these are amazing cases and I recommend them to anyone buying a new phone. Save your cash and avoid over priced OtterBox!!!

I've had a few cases now by SUPCASE and haven't been let down. The build quality is fantastic. After recently acquiring a Pixel 2 XL, I felt like I really needed a case. I'm not an idiot. I would never by something at a brick and mortar store, especially a case. After having worked for Verizon myself, many moons ago. I know the markup is horrendous. This is way better than the comparable Otterbox cases in my opinion. Those are severely overpriced and I have had issues with their customer service in the past.

As for this case itself. I am very pleased. It's exactly as I expected. There are no issues for me. I had read numerous reviews of people having issues with the proximity sensor and immediately tried a phone call as soon as I was able to put the case on my phone. NO ISSUES. The cut out is fine. No unwanted screen black out. When I remove the phone from my face, the screen lights back up and everything works normally. As it should. The charge port cover is firm. This case is NOT water resistant. There WILL be occasional dust and what not under the built-in screen protector after normal use and being in the pocket. (Clearly, taking this to the beach is asking for unwarranted deposits) It takes maybe 3 minutes with a microfiber cloth to take the case apart and clean. I've also found, for a more thorough job, running just the case under hot water and wiping with that microfiber cloth can also work wonders for smudges and odd debris wiped inside. Obviously, let the thing dry before replacing your phone.

This is a high quality case for a budget price. Well worth the cost. I will continue to buy these cases for future phones.

I just received this case today. Just as nice as the one I have for my Nexus 6. A few things are different, though. The case is much easier to open, this time around. The "bumper" surrounding the outside of the case is more pliable, making it easier to open. They also have a spot setup in the bottom right corner for you to easier start the separation process.

The problem with the covering of the proximity sensor had been fixed!! They actually have a cut out for it, so you won't be stuck with open phone calls. Other than that, it's the same thing you'd expect if you had one of these cases, before. My only gripe is the lack of colors. I had a green case before, but had to settle with Black this time.

The case does make the phone a bit bulkier, but coming from my massive Nexus 6 of three years (with the same case) I had a hard time keeping the pixel 2 xl in my hand due to muscle memory (I literally dropped the phone twice on cement, and only had it two weeks). It feels a bit easier to handle, now that it's closer to the same size.

Anyway, if you want the case, don't worry about the proximity sensor problem anymore. It's been sorted out.

Pros: Built in screen protector, very durable,
Cons: Bulky, rainbow effect on screen(see photos), small holes near buttons.

Supcase Unicorn Beetle cases are my go-to cases for phones. I have the same case for a Nexus 5x and the N5x looks like new (after over a year - image included). If you are clumsy like me, then I highly recommend this case. It is bulky and definitely makes the Pixel 2 XL feel bulky, but I know it will be durable and protect my phone! The squeeze feature works just fine and buttons feel great. I did notice that there are small holes around the buttons (you can kind of see it on the side view image i posted). This was not the case for the Nexus5x version of this case.

My favorite feature about this case is the built in screen protector, although it does have a rainbow effect(see photos), but it isn't too noticeable under most lighting conditions.

If you are looking for a durable case to protect your phone, buy this case!

I originally found Unicorn Beetle cases because my boss was too cheap to buy an OtterBox Defender for my S7 work phone. I wanted something with a built-in screen protector like my OtterBoxes but under $20 so that he would agree to expense it. That led me to Supcase, and much to my surprise, I have found it to be far superior to the OtterBox Defenders in almost every way and I haven't looked back since. From the materials and construction that don't stretch or fade or hold smells over time, to the lack of "stickiness" that makes it hard to slip some cases into my pocket, and the ease of installation and removal of the case, these can't be beat. They're heavier and bulkier than more basic cases, but the protection they offer is incredible and they have saved my phones many times.

Description

Strong, affordable and defensive. Without a doubt, the Unicorn Beetle Pro by SUPCASE is a smart choice when it comes to choosing a Google Pixel 2 XL cover. This case not only looks good, but it sports a myriad of convenient features, protective aspects and a life-altering design. Fold-out port covers ensure dust and debris don't enter your device, a fully touch compatible built-in screen protector adds convenience and functionality and a highly durable multilayered design ensures military-grade drop protection.

I just purchased a new Google pixel 2 xl and wanted a protective case with a belt clip. The ability to withstand drops was important to me. While I have only managed to drop my phone once since getting the case I was pleased to see that it did protect the phone as I hoped. I do a lot of outside stuff so protection was high on the list. It fit the phone perfectly and the built in screen protector works fine. The screen protector does accumulate fingerprints but does not detract from the image. The google assistant "squeeze" function works just fine. The price point was great saving me money over other options and the quality does not appear to have suffered. My wife says OMG this is a huge phone and case, but that is what I like so the bulky appearance is not a negative for me. I do not carry my phone in my hip pocket as is the common custom. After spending considerable dollars for the phone I appreciate that my investment will be safeguarded.

I have used these unicorn beetle phone cases for an HTC 10, Google Pixel, and now Google Pixel 2 XL. They are amazing cases and I recommend them to everyone around me. I am in the military and, as the pictures demonstrate, put a lot of wear and tear on my cases. The wear from my previous case was about 8 months of being thrown around and shoved into bags. I rarely uses the belt clip but I'm sure if I had the screen protector would have been viable much longer. I wish the built in screen protector were a little more heavy duty or scratch resistant but this case hardly breaks the bank and if I need to purchase a new one every 6-9 months due to a scratched screen protector that's okay with me. I have been using the belt clip since I purchased the case agaim, even if just throwing it in a bag, and the screen holds up much more to scratches.

I just got a new Pixel 2 XL and wanted an Otterbox (I work in construction) for it. The case Otterbox makes doesn't have a screen protector (so why bother?) This case fits perfectly, the buttons very easy to use through the case, it has a full screen protector that doesn't interfere with the touch screen (actually makes it work better, it was a bit too sensitive without the protector). The whole case just feels good in the hand. The belt holster has a nice big clip to hang on to the belt, and grips the case well. The only problem with the holster is it doesn't rotate around the belt clip and keeps the phone in the vertical position which can be uncomfortable for some while sitting. I don't use the holster so it's not an issue for me. Other than the clip, it's a great case at a very nice price!

I got this case when I first got the Pixel 2XL about 10 months ago and loved it. A big selling point to me in particular was not needing to use a separate screen protector. I take pretty good care of my phone but the screen on the old case did eventually get a few scratches that became mildly annoying so got another one and it's like having a new screen again. If I can make this one last another year before replacing it because of screen issues I am OK with that. Still debating if a case like this but more like a wallet case with a cover would suit my needs better, but for now this case is solid. Oh, I did have 2 drops with the same case ( my old one ) from about 4 ft onto concrete and narry a scratch both times. Maybe got lucky a bit, but I feel like the case did it's job both times. I've never had any real issues with the touchscreen with this case, or button accessibility. But it's the only case I've ever used for this phone so not much to compare it to . Also it was fairly easy to take the old one off and put this new one on once I knew which corner to pry out. 5 stars except 3 in durability and 4 in quality because of the screen . But perhaps thats not really fair as I think any screen might have had the same issue I had. I have cracked screen protectors on other phones too so ... Anyway. I recommend this case. Good stuff.

This phone case really does wonders protecting my phone. I have had it on for quite some time oh, and I am not very gentle with a phone. I am in construction so it is always very dusty sometimes gets dropped and it seems to hold up pretty well. I somehow cracked the back of my phone right where the flash is. If you look at the case, this would seem quite difficult. But hey, I guess I'm an overachiever. One problem I noticed very early on was that it blocked the proximity sensor and I could not hang up phone calls and when I would just look at my phone my screen was blank even though I had it set to always on. Once I discovered what the issue was, I just learned to live with it. It never gave me many problems after the first two weeks, however in the last few weeks it has gotten much much worse. I don't really know how that could happen, but my blood quickly boils when I can't angrily hang up on a Spam caller. It has also been the cause of many awkward voicemail of me just saying sorry, didn't really want to leave you a voicemail but I can't hang up. and then I'm sure they hear me in the background cursing and cussing out my phone saying all sorts of stupid crap while I'm trying to get this stupid phone to light up to hang up. While I've had these problems in the recent past and in the very beginning, I am still pretty happy with the case. At this point it is so beat up that I'm just going to order a new one. I will compare the two cases to see if any changes were made to the proximity sensor location, but if it has not been changed I may take a drill bit and ream it out a little.
