I'm a pianist / organist and I've always wanted to play something I could carry around that didn't need movers to do it! This little instrument is just the thing. Of course, I still have a lot of work to do to actually play something recognizable but, the nice thing is, you can just play anything and it will sound great! When I played a little for my daughter, she said it reminded her of Mr. Rogers! So now I already have part of his theme song down plus my own version of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star including a little harmony.
This Kalimba is really a beautifully made instrument. It sounds heavenly. I just brought it with me on a family vacation and everyone wanted to play it. I love it so much I'm buying another one for a friend for her birthday as a surprise. The tone is beautiful and it immediately de-stresses you when you play it. Even if you don't know how to play an instrument, it's a lovely gift for someone or yourself, because it will make you want to play!
I bought 2 at first one for my niece and the other for my nephew. When they arrived I played it. Because I have never done so. The sound is so soothing. Well I showed my sister she enjoyed the sound also. So I gave her one and kept the other for me. So I ordered two more to replace the ones I kept for my self.
I forgot to order for one other nephew, so I bought a Gecko brand. I took it out and played it. It was more expensive, so I was thinking it would sound better. It doesn't. The sound is muted as compared to this one.
I bought another Tscnd today. I want to share that sound with anyone who appreciates it
I bought this originally for more of decoration, which it is beautiful and well crafted. What I've found though is that I love playing it whenever I am near it. The keys are wonderfully constructed, the sound is perfect. The packaging is also excellent coming with everything you need to maintain it as well as instructions for care and some music, in an easy to read format, to get started. I think this is a great gift for all ages and for any one interested in making music.
I've been wanting a kalimba for a long time, but this one... this one spoke to me. The beautiful carving on the front and inside of the kalimba a perfect and it came neatly and safely packaged, with a cloth case, a tuning hammer, a book that includes some easy to play songs, tape for marking notes, and a cleaning cloth. The TRSCIND Kalimba Finger Piano is an African musical instrument consisting of a wooden board (often collated with a resonator) with attached staggered metal tines, played by holding the instrument in the hands and plucking the tines with the thumbs. How To Tune kalimba Instrument
To tune a kalimba is to actually adjust tines so they have the exact sound they are supposed to, according to which note a tine is designated to play.
1: Tuner:
You can use a real tuner or download an App.
Android system app: gStrings, Apple system app: Instuner.
2. Tune with hammer:
Making tines longer (from the point where they are held down on the bridge) will lower their pitch, and making them shorter will make their pitch higher.
Note: To avoid resonance issue, we suggest you press other keys while adjusting a key

I bought this for myself because I've been looking for a small Instrument to play on our boat. I took it to visit my grandkids and I never got to play it again. They loved it and wouldn't put it down. I have a second one on order for me. The sound is unbelievably rich for such a small instrument. It's also great for little kids because even if they just pluck random notes it still sounds great.
I bought this kalimba for my daughter. I think it is very nice. It is made of great wood and fits very well in the hands. In addition, a small storage bag is there to protect it from light and dust. This is a great little musical instrument with a very soothing sound.

I have a bunch of great grand-kids that come over periodically and we try to keep thing around for their enjoyment and entertainment. I purchased the Kalimba Thumb Piano this year for a gift for all the kids that would live a our house. I did take it up to one of the families and told the kids if was for our house but they could use it Christmas day, from what I have heard the boys have not let it alone and am wondering if it will make it back to me house!!!
