I purchased a humidifier because the Northern air gets so dry, and then running heaters in the winter time, compounds the matter even worse. Did you know that experts have proven that, if the air gets too dry, you can get sick easier? I feel so much better when I humidify the air, I breath easier, and sleep easier as well. Plus, if the air gets too dry, you can also shock yourself on everything in your home, thats usually an indicator that your humidity is bellow 30%. I also purchased a humidity meter from the acurite brand, as I like to know where my humidity levels are at all times. Just for reference, if you can keep your humidity levels around 40% to 50% MAX, you will live happier.
I have owned this humidifier for 2-years now, and I can tell you right now, that longevity is pretty good so far. I bought this for large rooms, so that I have the output if necessary. The resovoir holds up to 1-gallon of water, and its really easy to fill. Just lift the container off the base, flip it over, remove the fill cap, fill all the way up, replace cap, put container back down onto base. On the first use, you will see lots of bubbles, while the water fills up the base resovoir where the transducer is located, that creates the ultra sonic vaporization.
This unit comes with two nozzles. The directional nozzle, and the 2-way nozzle. Use the directional nozzle when placing this unit near a wall, you obviously don't want to shoot water vapor into your wall. When used in an open space where there is at least 3 feet all around the unit, use the 2-way nozzle to get higher flow. Additionally, the on/off knob also controls the flow amount. Depending on how bad the humidity is, use 50% to 75% flow, for small rooms. For use in large rooms, maintain 100% flow unless water begins to form around the unit and surface it is on, then back off on the flow.
This is why I highly recommend the use of a humidity meter. I like being able to know where my humidity is at all times. I do not want to exceed 50%, as it will get far too humid. But I also don't want to drop bellow 30%, and would rather keep it at a happy 40% medium. Its also nice having the meter cause in the summer time, we don't want humidity, so I can pay attention to what the humidity is doing, while I run the 2-AC units. Also, this unit has a LED light mode, up to three colors can be chosen, and can be turned on by pressing the touch sensor button, just above the flow control knob.
I do wish that the max flow had a higher rate then it does, and a higher push into the air. However, for what it does do, I am pretty happy with it. This unit is also fairly easy to clean as well. I use filtered water from a Britta jug, so the deposits don't get too bad. If you use tap water, you will only breath disgusting water vapor, and will lesson the life of your unit, making cleaning more difficult. Using filtered water, I only really need to do a rinsing once a week, and a cleaning of the transducer, with the included brush. And a final cleaning with 1-cup distilled white vinegar with mostly water solution, before putting up for storage.
Keep the unit clean and you should have no problems. I highly recommend it, 5-STARS!
UPDATE Jan 7th 2019!
I wanted to give everybody an update on how this humidifier is doing. It is now 3-years old, and it is still working! I know, hard to believe, when we know how quickly things die these days due to planned obsolescence. I have the humidifier running right now infact, as after the rains stopped again, the humidity went down to 34%, and I decided to start humidifying. The unit is still in pretty good condition, I do have some discoloration within the transducer area due to wear, I don't think much can be done about that besides a straight vinegar cleaning.
Speaking of which, I have run a 1-cup vinegar to full tank of water in the tank to clean it out. I just let it sit for 30-minutes, and then cleaned it out. Now, if the deposits that form that yellow gooyness is really bad, the vinegar treatment will at least break it up to make it loose its bond, then you can fish a paper towel through inside the hole to clean off the bottom inside of the tank. Again I can't stress enough how important it is to use filtered water.
Companies advertisements always lie to consumers making them think they can use tap water. Sure, but if your tap water is hard water like ours, it will dirty up your humidifier so darn fast, you'll be cleaning it every day! At least filtered water, such as that from a Britta jug container, will at least extend your cleaning times to once per week, and then at least 1 or 2 vinegar cleanings per year of use. Cleaning is important with this product for your health, as you want to breath clean moisture in the air, but don't cause yourself unnecessary labor by using tap water please.
The humidifier is still able to push out its full power as it did in the first 2-years of use. One thing I've noticed over the years is, the colder the water is, the longer it takes to get going. We keep our Britta jug in the fridge, cause I don't like to drink room temperature water, and when the freshly cold water runs in the machine, it takes time for it to build up the moisture vapor till its going full strength. But this machine does a really good job in bringing up the humidity in the room.
One of the things I like about it as well, is that its efficient on power consumption. Since were using a lot of electricity running space heaters, since its winter and all, I am grateful for the low consumption of the unit. Anytime you have a heating device, it uses a lot of power. Its just one of the reasons why I don't like steam based humidifiers, cause your running elements in there that draw a lot of power. And cold running humidifiers, use transducers, which generate ultrasonic vibrations, which vaporizes the water instead, while a onboard fan, pushes the vapor out.
I still highly recommend this humidifier and I keep the rating at 5 out of 5!
I use it every day. It humidifies, it does not create danger of being burned, it's silent, it doesn't leak, it doesn't cause puddles, and it seems durable. These are a huge deal and I'm grateful for them.
On the other hand, I don't like the refilling process.
- Use a fingernail to pop the steam-director out of the top (may take several tries) or it can drop on the floor;
- Turn the blue reservoir upside down while water drops scatter off the bottom;
- Unscrew the refill opening (easy - good ergonomics here);
- Pour in a gallon of water with one or no hands - at least one hand is needed to hold this odd shape upside down;
- Screw the hatch back down to lock in the water;
- Turn it right-side up again;
- Replace it carefully on the stand (fairly easy but some drops may again scatter);
- Replace the steam-director on top.
This humidifier is so well designed for all but refilling that I can't imagine why the refilling isn't better engineered.
This is my 4th cool mist humidifier, and I absolutely love this one. It's quiet, puts out quite a bit of mist if needed. I can adjust the amount I want. It covers a decent area, about 400-500 square feet. (I had a different brand before this one that was a nightmare, and the warranty was a nightmare.) This one however works great, would recommend to anyone who needs moisture in the air. I could tell a difference on breathing and my skin. I live in the high desert area of CA, so any moisture I can get in the air is a plus.
Just trying to set it up for the first time I came to a conclusion that the refilling was designed by a fool and tested by a sadist. You have to balance a cone on its tip while filling it with a gallon of water and then hold it long enough to screw back the plug. This is awful amount of effort if you have carpal tunnel, elderly, sick or weak after a surgery.
Why 4 stars? Because it works well so far, steam is safe, item is stable around pets. It’s reasonably quiet and doesn’t require salt like my antiquated Vick’s.
The irritated dryness in my lungs and throat went away after about 10-15 minutes, so it does what is supposed to do superbly.
I can deal with crappy pouring desig for now, will update this review immediately if the performance fails me in any way.

I am in love with these humidifiers. I bought three (3) of them for my approximately 1450 sq. ft. townhouse. January 2018 has been incredibly dry and cold in the Chattanooga, TN, area. My nasal and bronchial areas were inflamed, and I was having nosebleeds from how dry it was. So, I decided to up the ante with these. I had a previously bought humidifier, but it only did one room. I needed to make the whole house have a better humidity level since my monitors were showing the house to be around 24%! Ideal indoor humidity levels are between 45% and 55%.
I got these on a Sunday, and I filled them with water and turned them on. I love the night light feature. I did not turn them on full blast/Max. I put them about 50% so I could see how long they would last. I'm getting about 24 hours of use between refills, and the humidity levels have returned to approximately 50-55% rather quickly. The mist it puts out is visible, and you just get a nice a clean cool mist.
I definitely recommend these humidifiers.

I own 4 of these and have bought 5 total (one for a family member). On the highest setting, you will probably burn through 1 gallon a day. I usually only run them at night, and only in the occupied bedrooms. It may take a day or so for your room to acclimate, but you will feel the difference. The unit can barely hold 1 full gallon. Don't do as my Dad did, trying to fill it from the top, making it overflow onto your desk and electronics, and then him trying to clean up the damage and not inform you about his mistake.
After purchasing each hot humidifier per year due to the hard-water damage, I decided to try ultrasonic cool mist this year. By more than 80% positive review on Amazon, the product appears Quite, Sufficient mist, and Easy to maintain (with cleaning tool). They are basic, but Vicks and Honeywell (~$30-ish models) never remember to include. After a week of usage in the bedroom, the Humidifier XL is way much quieter than 1-year old Honeywell no water filter model, mineral clogged on the heating element whom originally louder anyway. I like it has NO logo just white in the front. I don't like it has no handle to refill the water. The LED is good to have, but this could be better if I can dim the power indicator when sleep.
EDITED REVIEW: (original one below para) Great vendor.. really appreciated them reaching out and replacing my unit when they saw my original review. So far so good on the new one... everything else about this humidifier is fantastic, so fingers crossed this one keeps working well! Thanks again!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Worked great for 3 months then completely stopped working one day. Did not get any sort of warning - i.e. noises, etc. Cleaned it per the instructions and nothing changed. The red power light comes on and nothing happens. Feel like I just threw $60 in the toilet. Did not buy the warranty on Amazon and seller's return window was 1 month; the companies warranty (and only if you buy directly from them I believe) is 2 months.
This unit is much better than the regular sized version. I love it. Its not as big as it looks in the photo by the chair, but it is a nice size. It has more features than the little one. It has different color lights, blue, red or green. The little has only blue. The light switch and mist switch are separate. The mist is adjustable, you can toggle it from low to high or in between. It has two spouts for the mist. You can either have one, or two holes for the mist to come out, I use the one. Set on high all night, I can fill the water tank before bed and it still has a couple of inches of water when I get up. It is very easy to use. Just fill it up, flip it over and sit it on the base and turn it on. Its very eye appealing. Just search humidifier and most of them are unattractive bulky lumps. You can sit this anywhere in your house and its pleasant modern design looks great. Looks fantastic with the light on, I love the blue. It does make a difference, I have this one in our vaulted living room. The static is gone, its easier to breath and my legs are not itchy. If you can't decide, spend the extra $20 and buy this one instead of the little one.
This thing is amazing, I probably can't overstate how great this product is. It has a huge water reservoir, and is very easy to fill and attach/detach. It has a dial that lets you control exactly how much mist you get, and two separate fountain heads so you can aim the mist, or shoot it in two directions. The actual water tank has a handle to hold, which makes it easy to remove from the base. I would not carry the tank by this handle when it is full of water, as it is just plastic. It is -thick-, but plastic just can't support weight from awkward angles over long periods of time.
It is basically silent. I can hear it if I am right next to it, but it produces virtually no noise at all. The light that is a part of it can be red, green, or blue. Or Off. It barely produces usable light, so if you wanted it to double as a night light, it is quite a bit weaker than a standard one that you plug into a wall socket. It's plenty to see objects on the nightstand it is on, but doesn't provide real illumination on the floor or anything. It is wonderful for mood lighting though.
The one negative I can think of is that it is hard to clean. You can't take the reservoir apart other than through the intake area, so you need one of those flexible cleaning brushes. The booklet says to clean it by rinsing it with vinegar or something, but I am not as proactive about cleaning this thing as the book wants me to be, and the pink mold that eventually grows around all damp areas goes away better with some good old-fashioned physical contact and soap.
We have been running this thing basically -constantly- for months. It keeps our room nice and easy to breathe in, and really helps dry-mouth when you just wake up or if you are sick. I've had literally dozens of humidifiers over the course of my life, and this one is the best at everything. I would absolutely recommend to anyone that wants something like this, unless they don't have enough table/nightstand space for one this big.
