I opened the package...the dog came running, grabbed a bully stick flew under the bed and wasn't heard from for 3 hours ( he had to go potty, otherwise he would have spent another 3 hours) !!! Need I say more...he loves 'em !!!
This is our second time buying these Bully Stick. As chocolate lab has gotten older she has become very picky on her treats. We used to buy her other Bully Stick at another dog chain store and she just never truly enjoyed them. She would chew on it for 10 minutes or so, then leave it to be thrown away.
I saw these Bully Sticks on Amazon and bought them to try them out because it could not hurt. When I lab chewed on the first stick, she stayed with it until it was gone. She loves these Bully Stick. Deliver is very quick and the price is very reasonable.
My dogs LOVE! to chew on these for hours, yes they do smell, but that means they were not treated with any chemicals. I had purchased another brand less odor not realizing they had been treated to remove that odor and both my Yorkies got sick, one so badly he had to go to vet for fluids and meds to stop him from vomiting and diarrhea .the poor little guy was so sick I thought we were going to loose him. So put up with the smell. The chewing is good for them.
First, I am a Subscribe & Save customer. I have been buying these for over a year for my fur babies. Let me tell you this... they absolutely go "bonkers" over these things. You, on the other hand... will not. The smell is, well... lets just say they won't be selling any perfume soon. :O) Don't let that detract you... no way! Your dogs are gonna love you so much & try to slather you in kisses to thank you. I would advise avoiding this until they brush their teeth... twice! HA!
You know how you find the perfect snack for your kids... no matter how rowdy they are, they all come running to get it & then are all quietly munching away. Its magical! Guaranteed! :O)
These bully sticks arrived all about the same length, but some were thicker than others. All are manageable for big dogs, as they chew on these holding them in their paws. I gave the thinner ones to my fatter dogs and the bigger ones to my hyper dogs. All took to these and took their time chewing on these. When saturated with dog saliva, the sticks retained their round shape and did not splinter. These sticks arrive as shown, wrapped tightly in clear plastic. No strong odors come from these.

My dog came running to me as soon as I opened the package. He has been chewing on it for the last 2 hours. 😀👍🏻 The only con would be the smell. It has a very strong odor. It's not pleasant at all. Personally, it smells like tonsil stones. You'd know what I mean if you've had them yourselves. Even though the odor is very strong I try to get past it since my dog really loves these sticks and it keeps him busy and I can sit back and relax and do other things around the house.
These are pretty decent for the price. They were enjoyed but my big dog’s make very quick work of these. I believe these just aren’t as dense as some others we’ve tried. The length of the chew is as described, it’s the thickness that’s somewhat lacking. Still, bully sticks aren’t a cheap treat and I feel I got what I paid for with these and I’m ok with that.
Edit.. I very rarely reassess my review of product, tho I feel it’s necessary here. I’m changing my rating to five stars and calling my early review a fluke. The rest of the bag has been great. A nice long lasting bully. Long lasting with a power chewer means 30 minutes give or take. I will repurchase these and that says it’s all really. Thank you for a quality product at a affordable price.
My dogs love these sticks. Instead of getting one large stick these are great because it is a smaller treat of something they love to keep them entertained for a little while. For my older dog who is 13 and a half it can last him an hour. My younger two dogs that are 11 months and a little over 2 years, it may take about 30 minutes.
Only NEGATIVE is once they have been chewing on them if you go to pick it up they STINK because of what they are, so fare warning the smell is horrible once they are all chewed up and left around and you want to pick it up. I usually only have to pick up my older dogs so that the younger ones won't eat his and give it back to him the next day so that he can chew on it again. That's the reason i'm picking it up to be fair to my old man! My dogs are my children and I try to help with fairness! Call me silly!
My dogs absolutely love bully sticks and as we know they can be costly but i decided to try this brand to see! They weren’t paper thin and were thicker than i expected! I actually just ordered again because these are the perfect size for my 45 pound dog and 140 pound dog. The bigger sticks my dogs never end up finishing nor do they want them later so these are the perfect size! I’ve bought a few times and
I initially found this brand via Amazon and went with it, as a test, due to its high reviews. I'd recently gotten a miniature Australian Shepherd puppy, and at the time he was teething a lot due to his baby teeth coming in.
I'd read that rawhide is generally not recommended, as it can upset a dog's stomach, cause intestinal impaction/damage/etc. I read statements by Cesar Milan and others that bully sticks were preferable to rawhide.
The bully sticks worked great; they were like a magic treat to him; I'd pull one out and his eyes would get wide and suddenly he'd be amendable to any tricks or tasks asked of him, lol. He'd sniff it from end to end, as if it were a fine cigar, then gently hold it between his teeth and trot off to his secret testing lab/toy lounge, where he'd have fun chewing on these for hours.
Do they stink? Of course they stink. To a dog, their sense of smell and hearing are paramount, so things that smell stinky and weird to us are incredible and amazing to them. That's why they work! The "smell free" variety don't work, for this reason.
There are only two problems I've found with these-one is specific to this brand; the other is to bully sticks in general:
1) I noticed that on rare occasions, the dog can pull at thr side of the strip and tear off stringy bits that are probably unsafe to swallow... Furthermore, when the stick gets down to the last 1-2 inches, it's no longer possible for him to hold it properly with his paws and naw on the end, so occasionally he chews the entire portion in his mouth. I have seen my dog, as well as several of my friends dogs, do this exact same thing. Occasionally, while chewing on the last "nugget", they will simply swallow it. This almost always induces vomiting. Both of these things pretty rarely happen, but it goes without saying, if possible keep an eye on the dog while he's chewing on these, especially when it's down to the end, just in case.
2) Specific to this brand, as others have stated, there is no real information provided about origin. No clear stamp of "Made and manufactured in the US from US cows" etc. Instead it says something about Argentinean beef, and leaves one to asssume it is a US-based company simply importing these from outside North America and labeling them with the legally meaningless label "all natural", etc. I still buy these from time to time, due to their availability on Amazon, but whenever I can find truly US-made (held to US processing standards) bully sticks, I go with those instead now.
