I never thought I would be buying something like this. This seems like the superfluous purchase or a first time mom, which I am not. But here I am writing the review. I bought this because my 6-month-old was getting around everywhere on our laminate floors and she kept falling back/forward and hitting her head. People kept telling me that her falling was just part of being a baby and that I just needed to let her learn through experience. Well, those people weren't there to experience the sound of my baby's little coconut hitting the floor. It is painful. So I bought this and it works as intended. My baby still falls and learns to catch herself, only I don't hear that terrible sound and she cries a lot less.
A friend of mine had bought this for her baby and she said that she could never get her baby to keep the helmet on and so it was a bust for her. My kid is as fussy as the next baby and what I did to get her to keep it on is simply distract her with a cool toy as soon as I put it on (without the ties). This method worked for me and she just played and then moved on to the next thing without regard for the helmet.
My son is just starting to cruise and stand and therefore falls a lot, and this product does add some peace of mind. Obviously it doesn't replace a watchful caretaker, but it has prevented a few minor bumps. I didn't expect it to work because my son never kept any hat we tried to put on him, but for reason he's actually OK wearing this around the house. I figured that must mean it is fairly comfortable. It comes with two chin straps that I cut off because I think they can be choking hazard. The adjustable velcro in the back means you can adjust the circumference to make it snug and it stays on fine without the chin straps. It also washes and dries well.
Product is as described and as pictured. A nice bonus was that the width is adjustable using velcro, good for all head sizes!
We use this in the house only. People make fun in reviews, but my precious one has saved a lot of tears and prevented numerous injuries from this. Be careful with the chin ties as they can create a loop when tied--we don't use them to be precautious--would have been better with Velcro. It's actually quite adorable when it's on and is helping a lot in the learn to cruise stages. A trip to the emergency room is a lot more expensive and traumatic. Our baby uses this hours each day--keep in mind it won't prevent injuries but helps with those minor bumps and bruises from trying to stand or tipping over when sitting.
Shipping speed is 0 stars if I can give that( ordered 12/24 and arrived 01/08). Strapping this onto a squirrel and asking it to run across a few states to my house would've gotten it here faster.
I will rate based on the product itself though. I didn't smell and strong chemical smell at all. Smells pretty normal to me.
It is Velcro adjustable which I love cause it'll grow with my baby. It looks very cute on her but sadly she is angry to wear it and screams to get it off!!! I will keep trying slowly to get her okay with it.

My daughter and I have one at both houses for my granddaughter. We have stone floors and worried about her starting to walk. At first my granddaughter tried to pull it off, but now it’s no big deal.
This helment has been awesome while baby is learning to walk. She is so rough and eager to learn that she takes many many topples but this helment is really soft yet protective. Great buy.
Nice padding for the little one! It came in handy when she had it on! Very cute as well.
Fits well. Does a good job of cushioning the falls. She doesn't mind wearing it because I let her have a little more freedom to explore the hard surface areas in our home. Just have to distract her when I first put it on. Great price. It did smell as others commented so I washed it before wearing. No more smell.
