I must be the first person to have bought this one. These are my brief notes.
First, this watch is actually a copy of a Tissot PR518, which is a massively heavy watch from the late 1960s made of hardened, crystallized, and pretty much scratchproof steel. You can bet that a $200 Seiko is made of 300-series stainless that you will be polishing for the rest of your life. It may also be influenced by a rectangular Eterna-Sonic (f300 tuning fork) watch from the early 70s.
Second, this is a big, gorgeous watch, but it is quite thick. The dial has a lovely blue color that beats pretty much any Seiko I have seen.
Third, it is very large on the wrist, almost too big for mine (6.5" circumference). You might want to put this on a 22mm strap rather than taking a lot of links out. I picked white lizard because it really brings out the 1960s-ish-ness of this piece. Though black leather would not be bad, either. Note that the thickness of the lugs means you can put some pretty heavy straps/bands on it.
Finally, this is a 7s26 movement, which means that it is an absolute tank but does not manually wind at all. That means that you need to shake it like a Polaroid picture to get it going initially, and it will take about an hour to wind sufficiently on your wrist to get up to speed. Then assuming you continue to wear it, it will probably run for 30 years before needing to be serviced.
BUT BUT BUT
This watch *does not* have luminous hands or dots. You would think this has luminous - and in fact, pretty much every Seiko in history that has white inserts has Lumibrite. But for reasons I ill understand, Seiko has decided on almost all of its Recraft line to forego luminous material of any kind - even when one is a repro of an older Seiko that had luminous -or has a dial/hands that strongly suggest it. This material costs a manufacturer almost nothing, so this had to have been conscious. Wow. You could have luminous material added to the hands quite easily, but getting someone to do perfectly round dots is a tall order.
Another Seiko stunner. The cons: The bracelet & non hack-able movement. First, I replaced the bracelet with a 22 mm Clockwork Synergy Dapper Collection-Vintage Leather band. In my opinion, the band really magnifies the beauty of the watch. The blue dial face and the orange second hand is just gorgeous! The movement isn't hack-able, but it's not a deal breaking. I also like the see through casement on the back of the watch. I don't think you will be disappointed if you buy this watch! It is quickly becoming one of my favorite go to pieces.
Great beautiful watch. The size is perfect even for smaller wrist like mine. In reviews it is said that the older trusty movement doesn't allow to stop the second hand. I found out that it is possible to stop it by a very gentle turning the crown backwards. Doing this you can even make the second hand go backwards (which is easier to achieve than to stop it). I don't know if this "feature" is intentional but it is there if you whish.
What I miss a little bit are the fluorescent dots - on this watch they're only white painted but aren't fluorescent.
Also the bracelet could have feel a bit more massive to match the higher quality looks of the watch.
What I like a lot is the very smooth sound and movement during setting the callendar - very satisfying :)
I purchased this watch online because none of the local Seiko dealers carried this specific model. I was very pleased with the purchase I made, communication with the seller about details about the watch was very easy.
I received the watch within days of ordering it despite living in the Philippines which has a notoriously bad mail system. The watch was as advertised, arriving in a pristine watch box, complete with all the manuals and tags. The watch itself looks a lot more expensive than its $150 price tag; the face is quite nicely coloured with a rich blue, although I would have wanted some lumes on the hands or numbers, but hey its a dress watch, so it's not that big of a deal.
I'm now thinking of purchasing a green face one, maybe with a leather strap this time.
It is not easy to find an automatic watch with name-brand quality for less than $200. I like the fit and finish of this watch, and it has a feel the feel of quality of higher priced watches.
I have an 8" wrist and the bracelet fit perfectly.
The crystal is beveled and stands slightly proud of the bezel. I think this gives an increased risk of scratching. The movement is made in Malaysia, but the crown feels nicely fitted and the date changes smoothly. There is no hack stop. There is no screw-down crown either which makes me slightly dubious of their claim of water resistance to 5 bar and that it's suitable for wear while "swimming, yachting, and taking a shower." That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

It reminds me of the watches I first fell in love with as a young boy. Excellent retro design aesthetics. Solid feel. Fits my wrist nicely. Gorgeous blue starburst dial. It's built like a tank. It's a SEIKO! Can't beat it! The only thing missing, as others have said, is lume. But is that a deal killer? Not for me. Many of these classic retro designs by Seiko simply don't have lume....so it is what is is. Heck...I have a MIJ Cocktail Time too and that doesn't have lume but that didn't stop me from getting it.
My Seiko Recraft is handsome, indeed, but can only be visually enjoyed with a certain amount of lighting shinning on it- lighting not included. Feels heavy after over a month. But that’s probably because I change to a different watch daily so by comparison it is heavy. I’m satisfied with the way it keeps time but I knew that of Seikos. I bought the watch because of it’s looks.
Heavy, solid feel when worn but can be too large for smaller wrists. Fine looking blue dial and interesting combination of polished/matt housing finish. Basic 7s26 movement to be expected at this price point. Solid link bracelet was much better then expected, watch would go well with some vintage leather strap though. Amazing two days international delivery by Amazon. Minus one star for missing lume. Good buy in sub 200 USD category.
It has a really good looking dial with blue in the center changing to black at the outer marks. The accuracy for my sample after a week is around +5 seconds per day. That's right in the middle of this movements range so I'm very happy with it. However the links in the bracelet are a little too large . Four links removed is too loose and three is a little firm on my seven inch wrist and there's only one micro-adjustment on clasp. It's still a 5 star watch while keeping in mind it is fairly heavy.
Didnt think I would love this watch as much as I do, it's fantastic and such a value, 7S26 is a solid movement, and this has a display back. Also super comfy and perfect fit on my small wrists.
