I wanted a compact lightweight battery pack that has USB PD. For whatever reason, it's hard to find USB PD battery packs that are 10,000 mAh, which I feel is the sweet spot between size/weight and capacity. Most USB PD battery packs are 20,000 mAh. Along comes the AUKEY PB-Y22. Not only does it fit the my size/weight/capacity requirements, it even includes the ability the charge the battery pack via Lightning (as well as USB-C and Micro USB). This allows me to consolidate the number of cables I carry in my travel bag, which is always a plus. The battery pack comes in a matte black enclosure that fits comfortably in my hand. It also came with a padded mesh carrying case and a short USB-A to USB-C cable for charging the battery pack.
If you are reading my review, your number one question is probably "will it fast charge my iPhone X/XS/XS Max"? The answer is YES. You will need the official Apple USB-C to Lightning cable, since at the time of writing, no other manufacturers are allowed to make a MFi certified USB-C to Lightning cable. This means if you use a non-certified 3rd party cable, it is not guaranteed to fast charge. Using the official USB-C to Lightning cable, as you can see in the picture, my iPhone XS Max charges at 8.95V x 2.01A = 17.99W. This is pretty much exactly as advertised. Note that my phone was at 42% battery when the test was performed. The charge rate tapers at higher battery %, which is typical for Lithium Ion battery.
Just for fun, I also tested the QC USB port. I know from experience that most chargers that support 7.5W wireless fast charge requires a QC power source and will draw around 10W or so at 9V. The 2nd picture shows this in action: 9.08V x 1.00A = 9.152W. Close enough. As a reference, the same charger and same phone drew 9.10V x 1.06A = 9.646W from an iClever 24W QC 3.0 USB Wall Charger (not pictured).
I've had several other AUKEY products and have been happy with them. I wouldn't quite put them on the same level as Anker just yet, but they are getting close. So far, the battery pack has met my expectations. I will update the review if anything changes in the future.
Contrary to another review here, i did a test of my iPhone X at 10% battery, and in a half hour, it was at 60%, indicating that the iPhone X is charging at full 18W quick charge speed. You need to make sure you're using an Apple USB-C to lightning cable. No other cable at the time of this review will work to quickcharge at full speed. Also of note, the new 2018 iPad 18W chargers are conveniently 18W usb-c chargers, so it will charge this battery at max speed via the lightning input. I think this is the best charger currently on the market for any 18W compatible iphone, or ipad, given it's small size and 18W capability.
Great compact power bank that offers power deivery (pd) fast charging for your iphone x (0-50% in 30 min) or any device that supports power delivery. It can provide about two full charges to the iphone X at best. The power bank can be charged using a lightning cable (apple proprietory) as well which eliminates the need for a separate cable. Hopefully Aukey used quality battery cells and parrs in producing this power bank. Only time will tell how long it will last. Aukey’s products have exceeded my expectations so far.
I just received this product today so these are my initial impressions. That said, I usually buy Anker but I'm impressed with how comparable Aukey’s presentation and build quality stacks up to Anker’s. I have noticed some unique design elements to Aukey’s products. Here they use a variation in port connector color to differentiate functionality. I like the attention to detail. It came with a carrying case that has a an external cable pouch. It also comes with a USB A to USB C charging cable. It's matte black plastic with polished black plastic end caps, which gives it a clean look. I purchased it for the ease of use with Apple products. You can recharge the battery with a Lighting to USB C, USB C to USB C, or the included USB A to USB C cable. Since I haven't used it extensively, I can’t verify long-term durability, but based on the 3 Anker power banks I have this seems to constructed well and a solid recommend for USB C to lightning fast charging.
I purchased this due to the fact that it had a lightning port input so that i could *try* and consolidate cables while traveling. unit charged just fine with the lightning cable i already had and my first use of this was to charge an ipad pro (2018) while i was driving home from UPS after picking it up. Charged the iPad pro like a champ!

Pros: Many options to recharge the battery pack, and it's able to charge many devices via USB-C PD, including my docked Nintendo Switch.
Cons: Slightly larger than the comparable Anker battery pack.
Basically I wanted a battery pack for my iPhone X, Apple Watch, Nintendo Switch, and Samsung GalaxyBook 12. This is able to charge every device, but at most 2 devices at a time. What really sold this for me, was the fact that it can be charged via USB-C PD, Lightning, or Micro-USB. That means I have so many options to get power back into the battery pack! I like that I can charge my Switch even when docked, which I haven't found with most devices. Size wise, Anker did make a smaller one with the same rated capacity and similar USB-C & USB-A connections, but it couldn't charge my Switch when docked, and it also didn't have as many options for recharging the battery pack.
Got this for the USB-C PD capability. It works great to charge my iPhone, Switch, and anything else. It’ll charge my iPhone XS Max about 3 times before I have to charge the portable back up. It’s very portable and the included bag is awesome. Lacking in the previous power banks.
Only minor gripe is that it doesn’t come with USB-C to USB-C cable. Otherwise it’s an excellent purchase.
So I’ve used lots of different batteries over the years for myself to use while traveling as well for employees to use for traveling. This one is in my top 3 in regards of size, capacity, and cost. The big plus is the fact you can charge it from not only the usual usb c but also via a lightning cable. It’s great for use with iPhones and also will get almost 50% charge for a 2018 iPad Pro 12.9”. I would definitely recommend this one.
After a few days with this AUKEY compact 10000mAh power bank, I'm impressed. On one charge this power bank, using the Q3 or PD port, _very quickly_ charges my Moto X4 3000 mAh battery (at the same rate as the Moto A/C charger) a bit more than two times, starting each time from below 20% and stopping at over 90%.
Particularly like the low current mode for charging ear buds and the like.
I like it so much that I think that I'll pickup another.
Recommend.
Charger is awesome! This charge the phones quickly full have enough juice to completely charge our phones multiple times! I
