Nice speedy system. One quick setup piece of paper in shipping box. Passmark top 99% percentile in the world in default configuration, not overclocked. Overclock tools appear simple to use, although I have no plans of testing the overclock ability. Graphics are stunning, FPS remarkable. System is silent even with ear near the box, nothing to hear.

Cons: I had an issue with Nvidia control panel would not function as installed, quick visit to NVidia to update drivers and software.corrected issue. Identification of sound plugs came from some alien planet, and are very poorly marked, very difficult to see.
Plan on visiting Dell site to download. PC documentation.

I have only had system a couple days, but would buy it again.

Want to start off and say, yes, comparatively speaking, Alienware can certainly be overpriced. However, as this went on sale on Amazon Black Friday for $1799, I certainly felt it was a steal. So my recommendation, if you truly want to buy a custom brand PC, and you aren't in a hurry, just wait for it to go on-sale again.

Price reference for people who don't believe:
1. i7-8700k is running 370
2. cheapest RTX 2080 is 700
*price taken from Newegg 12/5/2018
Now add the price of a 850w PSU, 16GB of ram, 256 NVMe SSD + 2TB HD, liquid cooling, case, led, cable management, and without the hassle of building it yourself. This is also without going full budget and buying a no-name brand PSU that will either fry your computer or arrive DOA (may be over-exaggerating on worst case scenarios, but you get it). For what you get, the price is certainly comparable.

Remember, you are buying this computer for its brand, the components it comes with, and the fact you want a competitive PC without having to worry about building it yourself. If you think this PC is for you, then you will definitely find it to your liking.

Nice pre built gaming computer once the kinks are worked out. Can get some nice frames depending on settings.

Ran into some issues right out of box. Command Center software unresponsive or largely not working. Fans inside running poorly or at very low speed. Lighting effects not working. CPU pump error message. White residue on case, blotch or stain on front from residue or unknown cause, had to be worked off with water and polish. After re installing BIOS and deleting some files, re installing Command Center, I mostly straighten out all of above. You might have a rough start like me if you purchase this model, however, there are solutions. It’s not what I expected for a new top of line gaming pc. Quality control issues abound, however, I did keep the computer and it is producing some good results with the latest games as of this date. Would I recommend it? If you are really into games and don’t mind some obvious quality control shortcomings, it is worth it. If not, try another model or something less pricey.

Update: Decided to return my model. Main reasons, cosmetic and mechanical flaws that either could not be fully fixed or would require repair. Performance wise, it was very good. The shame of it is the rest, too many other flaws to keep my confidence. Stain on front of plastic case, noisy fans that were not mounted properly, white residue on vents, problems with Command Center software, changing lighting non functional or buggy. Gave up on Alienware altogether. If this is the best they can do New right out of box, something is wrong. The 4 stars remains for performance only.

If you are reading this review and are wondering if this is a good system for the money it is one of the best. First I researched a ton of systems from the CYBER POWER, CORSAIR(NICE SYSTEM), MAIN GEAR(SUPER EXPENSIVE) and all the models in between. When it came right down to I wanted good components, name brand hardware, tech support and potential resale value down the road. The system is a beast and everything is easy to adjust with the Alienware FX control. Granted you will need MSI afterburner or another program to control the graphics card fans or to overclock the graphics card if you want. The system however easily overclockable, liquid cooled and is very quiet. If you add up all the items you get in the system it is actually a hair cheaper than trying to build it yourself. ALso note they have a ton of USB ports front and rear for eevrything unlike a lot of systems you are never out of ports. Now what you need to really know is the keyboard and mouse are just generic junk nothing special, invest in the Corsair K95 or the ALIENWARE gaming keyboard for something good. You will also want to get a 144hz or 240hz gaming monitor for the system I got the Predator monitor and it is great, but only 1080P (240hz) Overall this system screams on all games in 1080P and in 2K at all EPIC settings you will slow down in 4k if you aare playing in EPIC, but who is doing that anyways since all the 240hz monitors are in 1080P for gaming. There is plently of space for add ons in the unit and I installed the CORSAIR Vengenace 2666mhz RAM in place of the factory RAM simple plug and play nothing special needed at all....so I am not sure about all the people that say the RAM is such an issue no issues for me at all. I think there are just a lot of ALIENWARE haters due to the brand, but they put together a solid well designed system and down the road it is easily sellable verse buying a generic unit that no one knows and is just a paperweight. The only drawback is I wish they would have some inner RGB lights or maybe clear spot on the case to show off the liquid cooling etc...and they should update the Alienware FX it is super easy, but you are limited to only about 20 ish colors not the full spectrum to change the RGBS, but the overclocking is a click of a button to do all preset up in FX to use. Overall this unit is a 9.9 out of 10 and the only other unit I would say is close to comparable, but even more money is the Corsair Vengeance 5180, but bang for the buck is here and if you watch it, the unit has gone down to 1800 which is an insane price for what you get. Note the overclocked I7 is just as good as the new I9 read the stats and reviews do not waster money getting that as there is no benefit to the I9 over the I7.

I use to built computer back in the days with my cousin, one day my wife gifted me one of the Alienware as Christmas gift. Since then I have been fan of Alienware since it hasn't gave me any problems. I know it's bit overpriced sometimes but with this Black Friday deal it was worth it. The RTX 2080 itself was $800. I'm upgrading from 2016 model Alienware and the difference is night and day. Run full specs with 60fps for all games such as Battlefield V. I also do editing, and the processing speed is lightning fast. Since it's liquid cooled it's very quiet. This is my 5th Alienware and I'm happy with it.

Description

Evolved, inside and out. The Alienware Aurora features a meticulous, zero-fat design and is the first of its kind to offer tool-less upgrades to graphics cards, hard drives and memory. Designed to keep cool. Inspired by the thermal ergonomics of the Area-51, the Aurora provides optimal air intake on the front and right panels and an exhaust fan on top for maximum airflow and cooling of internal components. Packed with power. The Aurora is Alienware' S smallest Mid Tower Gaming desktop ever to offer both dual-graphics and liquid cooling.

I've just received this computer and spent a lot of time working to get it set up. Like other members on here, I ran into the issue that the graphics card was not compatible with Windows. I did some searching online to find some solutions to the issue and it has been resolved. My computer came with Windows installed but it was not a validated copy of Windows. I hit the validate button and everything updated and the version said it was validated. I did need to uninstall the Nvidia drivers, reinstall, and update everything but I just went through the steps from some of the online tutorials and I was able to install the Nvidia GeForce.

One thing to note which drove me crazy for a while - I was trying to get G Sync to act with a Free Sync monitor now that Nvidia supports this. I had my display port cable plugged in to the display port on the computer and the display mini on the monitor. Everything worked visually but I kept getting an error that said 'NVIDIA Display Settings are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU.' I eventually removed the display port cable from the back of the computer and put it into the same input near the HDMI input (a bit lower on the computer). This let me open up the NVIDIA Control Panel and I was able to get G Sync working.

It took some time trying to research everything but the computer is fast, has stayed cool, and is awesome so far!

Excellent computer, bought this along with and older version alienware aurora r7 with 1080 graphics card and no ssd and WOW can i say this one blew the other one out of the park! First gaming pc ive purchased and overall was cheaper than building myself.

Had a few issues upon startup but downloaded and updated all drivers through dell website and nvidia and thing has been running like a champ. Plays all games including VR flawlessly for someone like me who is a casual gamer i have no complaints.

Now to see if it stands the test of time......

Got it on sale over Black Friday. Top notch assembly (and super easy case). The Alienware Command Center cannot control the GPU fan, but third party software (MSI Afterburner) works fine so it's not a big deal. Overclocking is easy and fairly safe.

For whatever reason, when it first arrived the CMOS battery had fallen out. Pretty minor issue since it popped right back in but just be aware it can happen.

For any serious computation/gaming you will need to tune the fan curves because by default they are set to stay silent.

I had to upgrade the memory by adding 2x8GB cards. Make sure you research which cards are compatible because the motherboard is weird.

Tech support is great if you call during Alienware hours (like 8-5), otherwise you get standard Dell which is hit or miss.

Visually the Aurora is incredibly impressive and compact for its power. AlienFX, though only supporting fixed colors (no breathing), works pretty well. Command Center could use a refreshed UI but it works alright. The AlienAddrenaline macros are great for managing profiles.

Now I deal with the problem that the pc can’t use graphics card.First, download “easydriver” to check whether is your driver problem. Than check the wires connecting the display screen, make sure you connected to the graphics card’s intherface. Finally, download GeForce experience to fix your RTX bug.

It has a up to date geforce video card for the date this post is written, the 2080 gtx is comparable to the 1080 gtx ti. If you had to build this rig it would cost as much as I bought it on sale. I’ve done my own trouble shooting because dell support said my warranty does not cover my issues. Which were the free games which qualify for the purchases. GeForce live won’t install. Only the dell software update /installer is available and it won’t download my free games. Other wise the rig is up to date high performance gaming rig. I have had no issues with sofar.
