I gave this to my 2 young nephews at Christmas age 4/5 and 9 - both were excited to open it and get to work on it.

Stem, yes! But may be it's just my kid but my 9 yo couldn't do it without my help because it requires a certain level of dexterity. So it was a good bonding time to figure out how to put all the tiny little pieces together with him. The final product came out so nice and sturdy, very worth the time and effort.
Note: Be prepare to put in a good amount of time, AND a clear table for these little nuts and bolts!
I bought as a gift for my soon to he y year old nephew. I have not used yet but arrived nice. Box is sturdy and color sticker to show what's inside is bright and was in tact. Can't wait for him to build it
