This is a beautiful and functional lamp. I love the sleek, modern look. The brushed metal finish is classic and won't show any fingerprints.
Multiple positions make this lamp super versatile and especially good for craft work because the light can be directed over your project while the base is out of the way. The base is a decent weight but will tip if you try to position the light too far from the base. Still, if you needed to, you could put a weight on the base to extend its range.
The color temperature and brightness options are impressive. There are a total of 48 LEDs in the head of the lamp, packed into a 7.5" by 1.5" rectangular space with 19 rows alternating between 2 warm (yellow) and 3 cold (white) LEDs per row. On the warmest setting (Sleep Mode: 3000K), only the rows containing the 2 yellow LEDs are lit. On the coldest setting (Relax Mode: 4000K), only the rows containing the 3 white LEDs are lit. In the mixed setting (Study Mode: 5000K), all 48 LEDs are lit. I'm not sure I'd refer to the middle setting as "Relax" because the light color is clinical but I get what they're trying to convey. Of course, Study Mode is brightest just because all 48 lamps are lit. This mode also gives the most natural light since it's a balance of cold and warm light. Then there are the brightness options: Each of the three modes has 6(!) levels of brightness, so 17%, 33%, 50%, 67%, 83% and 100% light. It's overkill but still nice to have.
So far, I'm using this lamp mostly on the brightest settings as an office desk lamp but I would definitely use it in other rooms for reading or ambience lighting. The controls are clear and easy to use. A nifty bonus feature is the USB charging port in the base. I set my tablet or phone into my favorite stand (Elago P2 Stand for iPad and Tablet PC - Silver) right next to the base. Super convenient. Altogether a great lamp with great features. What's missing? I don't know... maybe the lamp should have voice command? I can see myself saying "Study, 75% bright" or "Sleep, setting 2" but maybe I'm the only nut job who'd want to talk to a lamp.
The lamp is securely packaged and includes the power supply, a short multi-language instruction book, and a bonus microfiber cleaning cloth of a decent size.
Bottom line: This is an excellent, versatile lamp for coloring and other close work. I received this TaoTronics LED Desk Lamp at a significant discount for evaluation purposes and am pleased to offer you my honest opinion about the quality and function. I have already planned to purchase another one of these lamps at the regular price. If you found this analysis useful, please mark it helpful. Thanks for reading.
This is a great desk lamp! I've had many over the decades, and this one is by far the best. Honestly, I'd consider it a good value at twice the price. The only reason I haven't already bought a second one, this time for my wife's desk, is that it's so inexpensive that I need to come up with a second item to avoid paying for shipping.
The lamp is designed beautifully. It's handsome and highly functional. The settings change silently with a tap of a finger, and the lamp can be adjusted easily and silently. The light can be moved effortlessly to change the angle along the vertical axis, and the lamp can be easily rotated from left to right because, even though it appears to be well made of quality material, it is not at all heavy.
The lamp has a set of yellow and a set of white LEDs, and you have the option of using one or the other, or both together. Additionally, each of those settings has 6 degrees of brightness, so it's easy to get a setting that you'll like.
There's a pinpoint red light to indicate where to tap to turn the power on, in case you're in darkness. This lamp is truly well designed.
Several years ago, I bought another attractive LED desk lamp. That one was three times as expensive, and significantly dimmer. This one is simply great value for your money. I never review products, but in this case I felt compelled because people on a budget (most of us) should know that their hard-earned money will be well spent in this case.
I bought this as portable lighting for my kids to do their homework. Both kids love using it. One kid prefers white light while the other prefers the yellow so the presence of both is great. Also, my husband and I prefer a blend of the white and yellow, but we haven't been able to get a turn since the kids use it constantly. Lightweight so very portable, but still very sturdy. No tipping over issues. Lamp is aesthetically pleasing as well. I would have given it a 5, but I gave it a 4 because the cord is a bit too short for the place I intended the kids to use it.
We love this table lamp and will probably get 3-4 more. It is flexible, very low wattage (a mere 1.7 to 5watts on any setting!) and looks very cool and sleek, great for any space you want to modernize. Folds away flat, love that you can change the shade of the lighting, and intensity of the brightness. I was looking at a comparable $250 lamp and I have ZERO regrets about choosing this one over the super expensive designer lamp. Worth every dollar!
Love it. I like that I can choose a warmer yellow-white light or the bluish-white light. I love the silent non-mechanical touch controls for brightness and on-off, and I am happy that going from off-to-on it remembers the settings from the last time it was on. I like the sleek design, its stability, and small footprint on the desk, and I also love that it has the USB connector which can charge my mouse overnight while the computer and light is off. I am so glad that I spent a little bit more money than the cheaper lamps available because the quality and features of this lamp are worth the small difference in price.

While many use these for desk or table lamps, we've found them to be excellent as bedside lighting. We have one on each bedside table. The adjustable nature of color and brightness means they work in any daytime or nighttime setting. The LED diffuser works well so no harsh lighting problems with this model.
We used the charge port, and it works fine. However now we charge wirelessly at night so we don't use the charge port any more. It's a worthwhile feature though.
The most underrated positive feature though is the fact that it folds up to a thin 1"x1.5" column when not in use or if you need a little extra space on a table.
Would buy again. Would highly recommend.
Extremely sturdy, futuristic looking lamp. Looks beautiful in both the bedroom and in the office. The hidden USB port is a nice feature (wish it was 2A though). The large circular base keeps the lamp very stable, and the ability to tuck it away when not in use is fantastic. The brightness settings are well spaced out, and at the maximum setting this thing is BRIGHT! I usually keep it at level 1 or 2 out of 5 for doing minor work on a desk like cleaning firearms, taking notes, etc. Overall, looks like something out of Deus Ex. In my opinion, this lamp is better designed than the next setup up, which has an awkward upper arm shape.
Love this Lamp. Love the 3 different light types (like a yellow light, a white light, and a combo) , and each different type has 6 settings for brightness! I love the very small red light next to the on/off button so you can see it in the dark to turn on, so helpful! None of the lights on the control panel area are bothersome, just bright enough to help guide your fingers to what you want to pick- this is important to me because I CAN'T SLEEP if i can see lights! Also this lamp saves your last light setting, so it turns the light on to how you turned it off... love love love!
My daughter bought Tao Tronic’s desk lamp TT-DL13 a few weeks ago . I liked this lamp. I think this is a best choice for a LED desk lamp for this price ($29). So I decided to buy TT desk lamp for myself but a slightly different model and chose TT-DL22, because of the metal design.
I agree with comments pros, but I wont to add few cons:
1. LED’s protected glass is semitransparent, so I can see each LED, white and yellow, and sometime it feels like it is set of LEDs and not a lamp. TT-DL13 has white frosted glass and I see a long shaped lamp which changes the colors with an even tone unlike mine lamp in which you can see which parts of the lamp (which LED) are used for different colors.
2. Power input and USB input are located too close and therefore the L-shaped power connector (I got this one) slightly obstruct access to USB port.
3. Arms are longer than I expected when I saw in the pictures from different comments.
This is an incredible desk lamp. I LOVE the way you can change the color of the light. There's blueish light for a little extra "daylight", bright yellow (like an incandescent) and a convenient low level orangeish light for night-work, when you don't want any blue light component. Note that the blue and orange lights are separate, independent strips of LED's. The lamp is brightest on the middle (yellow) mode where both strips are lit. On the other modes, the lamp is a bit dimmer, even on high.
There are also 6 levels of light, the brightest is great for work, the lowest great for a nightlight.
The USB in the back of the lamp is very convenient, although it's not a "fast" charger.
The "look" of the lamp is probably the best part - the "brushed aluminum" looks goes great with just about anything (the "inside" is brushed and a bit shineier, the outside is matte dark gray silver).
I do wish the hinge would allow it go back at the bottom - the hinge is clearly designed to allow you to lean the lamp forward, not back, but that's my only complaint. This is also a "tall" lamp, I'm 6ft and when I sit the horizontal bit is at eye level (but since it's thin, you tend not to notice it.
Pros:
- Looks great
- Three different light color choices
- Lots of light on "Yellow"
Cons:
- USB does not appear to be a "fast/smart" charger
- Lower light levels on BLUE and ORANGE light modes
Recommended: Definitely!
