Although I purchased this set a while ago, I waited until after a trip to the zoo to gift this to my preschoolers. They absolutely loved it! They spent several hours setting up zoos and having people visit the animals.
I dropped a star because the animals are not very realistic, nor are they remotely to scale. The large giraffe and the fox are roughly the same size. But since I'm not using this for scientific purposes, but merely to keep my children entertained in a somewhat educational way, it meets our needs. The included information booklet is very handy when it comes to answering some of their animal questions.
Also, the plastic accessories are cheaply manufactured, leaving some rough edges where the gates connect. Still, my kids enjoyed it immensely and have carefully set the pieces aside to continue playing with tomorrow.
Do take note that the description states unique animals. While no two are exactly the same, several are mommy-baby pairs of the same animal.
My daughter likes to play with these and does so frequently, so I am giving it 4 stars instead of 3, because she obviously likes them. The sizes are weird, though. They are not relative to each other and that might cause confusion with learning. Some of the pieces were a lot smaller than I expected, so I just removed those for now. The legs and antlers have broken off a few of them, but my daughter doesn't seem to mind. I just threw away the small broken part and filed down what was left so it isn't sharp. She still plays with them without hesitation.
My son loves them! Just like the picture. He looks setting up all the extra little Trees and animals. Also love that it comes with a little booklet naming each animal and gives a little paragraph on each one. My son has been obsessed with animals lately and he loves for me to read it to him.
Package was a little damaged, but did not affect any items. There were a couple of repeat animals, but not many, and they were different sizes/poses so no repeats. Couldn't get a couple to stand up by themselves, but most could. Paint is very bright, and not as realistic looking.
Liked the little encyclopedia booklet that came with it, and appreciate that there are animals in this set that weren't in others. (Meercat, pangolin, stork, jackal, gazelle. We're studying Africa) Found some animals in the package that aren't in the encyclopedia, however. Not all of the animals in booklet are in the package as well.
Overall pleased with purchase.
I live near the San Diego Zoo where my grandson can see almost any animal known throughout the world. I bought this set so that when watching animal videos/music videos on the internet, he could pick up the correct animal and tell me the name. He loves this grouping and we play with it often. Very safe and just right for smaller hands.

For the price, I definitely like it. I got it because it also included a pamphlet of info on the animals which was unique. The funny thing is, there are more animals in the pamphlet than are included in your bucket, so there will be animals you can read about from the pamphlet but that you will not have in the bucket. Also the lizard is NOT included in the booklet for some reason (??). Other than that, the bucket itself is not good quality, and mine came damaged and with a few items dumped out into the box, but since all the items were accounted for and I didn't care too much about keeping the plastic bucket as it's carry case forever, I thought removing 1 star was sufficient enough. I like the animals themselves, and I do not mind the size discrepancies but if you want them to scale then this is NOT the bucket o' animals for you (for example, the hippo and the squirrel are about the same size, scary). Also the trees are cheaply made, but again I think for the price it is fair. In a way there ARE repeats of animals, BUT it is because for example you get a big giraffe (mommy?) and a small giraffe (baby?), but I kind of liked this but wanted to clarify that yes while technically no repeats, there are (only a few) duplicates of the same animal but of differing size. And yeah, not sure why these are called "safari jungle animals" kind of makes me laugh when they include a polar bear, think of this bucket as wild animals instead, maybe a zoo, and that would be a better description. A nice range of animals.
I bought these for my 2yr old son. He loves building things and this is the perfect set! The pieces are large enough for him to handle easily and it’s a great opportunity to work on dexterity. And it’s amazing for imaginative play.
My grandson loves these animals! He uses them in the bath, carpet playtime ,the only reason I didn't give a 5 is that 1 of the giraffe's has 1leg is off and it isn't able to stand up on its own. Frustrates my grandson but ...out of the whole tub it's the only one that is damaged.
My three-year-old is obsessed with safari animals so this was perfect for him. He can tell you what every animal is. He loves his toy, completely worth it.
I purchased this animal safari set for my students to play with during indoor recess. I had them decide between a few different sets and they settled on this one. The animals are nicely made and students enjoy playing with them when the weather does not permit them to play outside. They look forward to using their imagination to play with these various animals. Great product.
