Bosch 12-Volt Max LED Cordless Work Light FL12

Bosch 12-Volt Max LED Cordless Work Light FL12

The best portable work light, EVER. Amazing power. I used it one night to change the car battery - the magnet worked perfectly and did not need someone to hold the flashlight for me. I used it to light up those corners and underneath appliances - almost too much light. I can't believe how bright this thing is. I have almost all the 12 volt tools from Bosch and adding this to my collection was a no brainer. I have used another Bosch flashlight (FL10A) and though helpful not as versatile as this one. I haven't used the older one since I've gotten this one. I am VERY pleased with this!

PROS
-Bright
-Magnet works well
-Can be set on a shelf/floor right next to the project
-Battery life is incredible
-Sturdy and well built, good finish

CONS?
-would be great if it had an insert tray (a wish but not a negative)

The photo shows how I incorporated this tool into my L-Boxx. The foam allows it to be snug in the box. By all means buy this, especially if you need a bright light for your projects. I used it in outside (evening) with my compound miter saw - bright enough to use in the evening and did not have to lug a huge halogen light with its cord, etc. No reservations at all with this one!

Well after using this for some time, I bought ANOTHER one (needed one for under the sink, plumbing) and one in the basement for the other part of the plumbing - two lights did the job perfectly! I use this everywhere now!! Get it; no regrets at all.

Excellent light and very compact. I have a PS32-02 drill driver kit that comes with a soft case: I put the spare battery into the light and it fits perfectly inside the case in the place of the battery, so I can carry everything together: the drill, the charger, and two batteries.

Bosch FL12 LED work light: 330 Lumens makes this the second brightest light in the group and currently it is my favorite light. Not because it produces 330 lumens of light but because it is the second brightest, has the longest run time of 6 hours on max brightness, run time doubles on low setting, pivoting magnetic base with a built in carabiner that is easy to use and useful. The pivoting magnetic base with built in carabiner is made of solid aluminum and feels Very solid, it is attached to the light itself very securely. The Bases tension is adjustable using the screw on the side. As you pivot the Bosch fl12 on it’s base it is locked into place every few degrees with a detent mechanism which keeps the light from losing its position due to the weight of the light (no it’s not a heavy light). The light lense is framed in aluminum but the body appears to be a type of composite maybe even a poly-carbonite (high quality, durable type of plastic) or Reinforced Plastic. There is no mention of it’s resistance to water of fluids, however the Bosch fl12 LED work light does appear to be sealed up really well and I believe that it should survive a drop or 2 into a bucket of whatever fluid you are unfortunate enough to drop it in. The power button is a simple on/off type button however if you hold the button down it will switch the work light to it’s low setting. This low setting is not retained when you turn the light off. you will have to switch it to low every time you turn the Bosch fl12 work lighton. This is a well made light and a Good value at only $48.99 w/out battery on Amazon. One thing i should note is that the low output setting on this light puts out plenty of light for most situations, i sometimes have trouble distinguishing which power level I am using.
Things that i don’t like about the Bosch FL12 10 LED work light is that the power button is in an awkward location that i often have trouble finding without looking at the light (it will take getting used to), the low power setting is not retained when the light is turned off and requires you to switch it to the low power setting every time you use it. I don’t know if this will happen but the carabiner has the potential to become bent if you drop the light in just the right way. This has not happened to me yet and i have dropped it a few times already. Now with that said you should be able to just bend it back into place since it is solid aluminum.

I love it, but like most of my tools, it has a narrow range of uses. Just looking at the picture you can see it works great for shooting light upward, which is often blinding. So I get a lot of use out of the magnet. The whole device is of the utmost quality however, with a very affirmative and solid battery mount. No wiggle whatsoever. The bump stops are magnificent, and they make my DEWALT DCL050 20V Max LED Hand Held Area Light seem cheap in comparison. It's okay though, different tools for different uses. I'm sure you find your headlight to be the best hands free light that shines where you look, but these are great for under the counter and whatnot. The lack of battery level indicator is an obvious problem on all these lights. It's a pain to pull the battery out and put it in my drill just to see the level. I'm always trying to avoid needless and possibly harmful charges to a full battery but also not to run out when I need it. In terms of color, it's a cool white, more natural and less harsh blue than the Dewalt. So it's more like the Milwaukee. When I want a warmer light that's longer lasting and not as bright, I switch to the Makita. The reflectors around each LED emitter are also better than any of the competition's, helping to keep one LED from heating another and to diffuse the light more. It feels like it will last forever. So 5 stars.

I must admit, I've always had a flashlight fetish, ever since my chrome RayoVac when I was young. I've really controlled myself, now I only buy lights that are rechargeable. And, better yet they have to be LEDs and fit my Bosch 12 volt toolset, or my Dewalt 20 volt set. So, my collection is quite limited. Well, this light is not cheap, but it is very bright, it has two levels of output, just hold down the on/off switch for the lower level. This light is all metal, these powerful LEDs need heat sinks, that's what the metal is about. Also, this light is small, you can fit it in your pocket, or hook it on your belt. I'm very impressed with it.
Also remember, not all LEDs are of good quality, don't be fooled by that 48 or 78 led light, and if they are smd leds ,they are not all equal either. Stick with a quality name, and read the reviews.

I already have the Bosch drill/driver that came with the batteries and charger that fit this light, so no added expense besides the light. Remember that it doesn't come with the batteries or charger.

Excellent amount of light and great for hands free illumination. It can't compete with my Fenix 900 lumen hand held flashlight, but it works great as an al purpose light that I keep in my pickup truck. More of a flood light than a traditional flashlight and that's a good thing.

Need to work under the hood or the entire truck... Just stick the magnetic light to a metal part and click it on.

Working outdoors under a tree... Just clip it to a branch with the integrated carabiner

I've also used it as s task light on my work bench when I'm working on something with small parts.

Lasts a decent amount of time on one battery. I keep one battery in the charger and one in my tool bag at the ready for use in the light or drill driver.

If it's as well made and reliable as my old Bosch drill driver, then it should last a long time.

I've owned the FL12 for about 2 years now and its my favorite work light. It uses any bosch 12v battery, since I already own a bunch of bosch 12 tools I can swap batteries around. On a full charge I can use it through my work day without recharging (just recharge it at home) but I do carry a spare battery in my bag as well. The adjustable magnetic clip is really handy, since I work around steel objects most of the time just stick and aim it where I want.

There are several ways to mount this light. It has a 1/4-20 tripod screw at the base of the light itself not on the clip, the carabiner clip, a little tab you can drive a screw through to hang it from the wall, and the magnet on the clip.

I use a 2.0Ah battery and I can use this for what I would say is about 5-6 hours and probably continue using it even after that at full brightness.

Its taken a lot of abuse (dropped several times from about 3 feet) and still works fine. I did put a clear screen protector over the LEDs to keep the lens from getting scratched up since it can't be replaced. The only time the light has given me issues is working in a hot attic. the light ended shutting off after being left on for awhile (probably over heated), since i rarely work in attics its not an issue for me.

This is the most amazing led work light I have ever used. The fit and finish is excellent, and well thought out. The bezel is raised to protect the lense from scratches, and doubles as an effective heat sink. The led used is very neutral. Id describe it as being in 6500k spectrum. Battery life is as rated. The magnetic base is really useful for doing electrical work. The clip works well. I attach it to my tool belt for area lighting. If you use 12 v bosch tools, you need this! One star removal for no led indicator. The threaded mount also is a camera mount style, and not the larger diameter used in the contractor tripod for lasers. I.guess you can attach things like the gorilla flexible camera mount to it.

I have a pretty large collection of 18V Bosch tools, and I also have the heated jacket, which I love - that is my only 12V Bosch product. I have the 18V floodlight, which comes in handy when I need a lot of light, but I needed something that was bright but more flexible in placement - a work light of sorts. Reading the reviews, this seemed to fit the bill.

This light is phenomenal. It's extremely bright, yet compact. It's about the size of a D-size flashlight, but shorter. Very well constructed and solid. The stand allows is to be positioned at many angles, and the magnet on the base is very strong - I see using this easily as an under-hood light when working on the car.

For those with other 12V tools, the battery slips in and out of this very easily. I've struggled at times with the jacket holster and heard others have issue with the 12V battery being tight in certain tools and difficult to remove. This light does not seem to have this issue.

If you need a compact, flexible bright light, I highly recommend it.

I really wanted a light to go along with my new Bosch 12V drill/driver, since I found myself using the light from my old Craftsman set as much as the driver. Initially, I saw the GLI12 "stick" which looked OK to me, but one of the reviewers mentioned this FL12 was more flexible and well worth the extra $$. Despite the $60 price, I went for it. I can't compare to the "stick", and haven't used the FL12 it much yet, but I am sure I made the right decision. Love the brightness, compact size, adjustability and magnetic base. Not sure how much I'll use the carabiner clip or tripod mount, but have already found the nail hook works for hanging the light on pegboard for storage. Well designed and built. Assuming this light lasts reasonably long, I don't foresee ever regretting this purchase.
