There was a learning curve in using this. When I first started using it, the fan was annoying cycling off and on constantly Then when the fan was not running, I was not sure it was working. I spent some time making sure connections were seating properly and the power light was on. After a while I was comfortable it was working. At the second hotel in italy I made sure not to set up the converted next to the bed and we had no problem with the fan cycling on and off. Seems like as it was used more, it cycled less.
I bought this buck converter during my business trip, it works very well for the appliances I carry, recommend
Works perfectly when traveling, but a bit clunky. Give it 4 stars.
The product performance is perfect. The product is sturdy enough to build and wire into the wall is heavy duty.Ease of use is superb.
Worked very well both in born Morocco, and Israel.

Traveled throughout the Middle East with this unit. Very versatile.
This comes with the European plug on the cord, you can attach the American version to use it. The plugs are clever, they will take almost any input. However, the spacing between the outlets on top is too close, if you have wall warts you will not be able to plug 3 in.
You really do need to check the wattage of what you plan to use. For example most hair dryers are well over 1000W and therefore will NOT work with this in spite of what they say (I am taking a star off for this, as they need to be honest about what will run) Coffee makers in general pull at least 500 Watts, which means you will not be able to use one either.
I went and looked at my daughters extensive set of hair heating products and the curling irons/flat irons ranged from 75 watts to 200 watts.
Many things you travel with (shavers, electric toothbrush, computers) already can convert the voltage so you just need the physical plug to make it so you can plug your device into the wall. So look at what you are bringing and if they all work on 110-240 V you can get a cheap conversion plug and then buy a separate USB converter which will be smaller. But if you have stuff you need to plug in that does not convert this is a reasonable product to choose.
Photo with scale for size. It weighs 1lb 8 oz with all the parts.
Ha, I guess I must be out of touch with this type of product because I'm surprised at all the reviews saying this is bulky or heavy. For a voltage converter (and not just a plug adapter) I previously would have thought you'd need a step-down transformer twice this size and 5 times its weight.
When I read reviews for these voltage converters, I always wonder, "so how did they test it?" unless they specifically mention taking the device to a foreign country with 220 volt power. 220 volt outlets do exist in the USA, for things like arc welders, kitchen stoves, and electric clothes dryers, but none of the included plug adapters will work with any of these US 220 volt outlets. Well in my case I found an old PC power cord that fits the converter on the PC end, and I cut the plug off the other end, and made an improvised connection to a 220 volt arc welder outlet in the machine shop where I work. So yes I did test it and it works perfectly.
Except... Except for where one prong of a US polarized plug is wider than the other... the "wide" slots on this converter seem to have a molding flaw such that they are not really any wider and you really have to push and rock to force that wide prong in the first time. Once the plastic is mushed out of the way a bit it works fine, but this is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
Anyway I ran a 60 watt light bulb and a small Dremel power tool of about 140 watts off of this unit and they both seemed perfect. I also tested the output with a neon bulb type voltage tester and it checked out in the 115 volt range. And I plugged my rechargeable Bluetooth headphones into a USB port and they seemed to be charging correctly with the charging light on.
I suspect if you pushed this unit harder so that the cooling fan came on, that fan would be of limited value since it is so tiny and there are not much for vents anywhere else on the casing to allow air to actually flow freely.
If you repeatedly visit a single foreign country, I should think you could come up with a local PC power cord there and use that to run this converter. That way you could ditch all the clumsy plug converters.
For many electronic items you just need plug adapters for international travel, you don't need a voltage converter because the chargers accept 110-240v and 50/60hz. But there are a few items that don't fit that profile: my electric toothbrush for instance. For some years I've been carrying a clunky voltage converter, but this power strip style really is more convenient: you can plug in several items, and also use the USB ports to charge the phone/tablet/Kindle trio that seems to be a must-have for most of us. (In fact, this is so handy that I'm planning to carry it even for domestic trips.)
The power cable for this item has a Euro plug, so you need an adapter for non-Euro countries including the US. They provide several of them (see product description): US, UK, Australia, Italy, Israel. (Note however that they erroneously say the UK plug works in India: it doesn't, you need to get yourself a separate one for that part of the world.)
I'm not travelling yet, so can't confirm that it does work for step-down operation in 220-240v countries. I've tested it here, and it works just fine. The USB charging ports are particularly satisfactory, they clearly put out the advertised power for fast charging.
Overall an excellent and very useful product.
This is a travel voltage converter with built-in USB charging ports. The transformer measures 7”x3.75”x1.5” and weighs 15 oz. It comes with a 42” detachable power cord with a European (type E) 2-prong round plug on the end. Also included in the box is a plug adaptor kit with 5 plug adaptors including type G (UK, India, etc.), type A (North America), type D (Australia, China), type H (Israel and South Africa), and type L (Italy), as well as a faux suede draw-string storage bag big enough to hold the transformers, cord and one plug adapter, or the transformer and all plug adapters. The 3 USB charging ports are 5V, 2.4 Amps. The device has 3 North American 3-prong plugs on the top surface for output in 110V. The transformer has an on/off switch and a built-in fan. The product was made in China.
I found this travel kit easy to carry and it works well for small appliances. Most small appliances these days can take either 110V or 220V input, but a few key ones can’t. For instance, most computers, shavers, and phone chargers are fine to simply plug in the wall with a plug adapter. It’s crucial to check first to be sure—just read the tiny print on your transformer or device or check your manual. If the transformer or your manual says 110-240V input, you’re good to go and you don’t need this kit. On the other hand, my electric flosser only works on 110V, so I needed this kit for an overseas trip. It worked fine for my flosser, which draws 12.5 Watts.
Having the 3 USB charging ports on the side of the transformer is a great feature. That’s 3 phone chargers that I didn’t need to pack in my suitcase. I also really like the way the power cord is a separate piece from the charger. Most of my travel is to Europe, so I can just take the included cord and no plug adapters in my bag. The socket on the transformer is a standard computer-type 3-prong power socket, so you could use any standard desktop computer power cord at your destination to plug in this transformer—then you wouldn’t need to pack the cord and a plug adapter. Assuming, you could find a computer cord when you get there, of course.
Be careful to check the wattage on your device when choosing a transformer. The maximum wattage of this device is 300W for continuous use. That’s enough for your average curling iron, but not other heat producing devices like blow dryers, coffee machines, or electric kettles. It’s also not enough for most blenders, kitchen mixers, or a vacuum. For those devices, you’ll need a more powerful transformer. Note that the manufacturer seems to be over-estimating the power capabilities of this transformer and underestimating the requirements of devices in the product description and Amazon answers for this kit. If you try plugging in a device that draws more power than this transformer can provide, you risk burning out the device, the transformer and starting a fire, so always take the time to read the power requirements before you plug anything in. And remember that the maximum wattage output of this transformer is 300W total, so you need to sum the total watts for all of the devices that you plug in and use at the same time.
Overall, this is a capable and compact travel power kit that will work in just about any country with electrical power service. Just be careful to check your wattage requirements to make sure this light-duty transformer will suffice.
